Yes your 2005 Jeep Wrangler does need a supplemental braking system to flat tow in California, and the best option for that is a portable braking system. Not only is it the most economical, but if you wind up changing your towed vehicle at some point, you can still use it. Here is what you need for that system, as well as the rest of the parts to flat tow your 2005 Jeep Wrangler:
- Base Plate Kit: etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit # e98946

I have a great braking solution for you. Unfortunately, when flat-towing a vehicle, you need a completely different braking system than a brake controller. This is known as a supplemental braking system, and it is designed specifically for flat-towing applications. I went ahead and linked a FAQ article that goes through all of the different variables of the systems.
One of the most common supplemental braking system is a proportional system. This means that the system applies the brakes... view full answer...
The Curt Echo # C51180 is a wireless brake controller for trailers, not flat towing. The Echo will activate the electric brakes on a towed trailer but for activating the brakes on a flat towed Jeep behind your Winnebago View you need a supplemental braking system such as the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System, # BLU37TR. You can use one or the other depending on what you are towing. view full answer...
A weight distribution system allows a vehicle to tow a heavier trailer as it spreads the tongue weight out among several points as opposed to all the weight sitting on one point. As there is little to no tongue weight when flat towing a vehicle (all 4 wheels on the ground), a tow bar is not supporting the hitch or towed vehicle in any other way but pulling. Most will also have several pivot points which would negate any kind of added support.
The braking system will also not increase the... view full answer...
A trailer brake controller like the Redarc # RED24FR Tow-Pro Liberty is intended to actuate trailer brakes, not the brakes of a towed vehicle. This being said, we DO offer braking solutions for flat towing a vehicle.
For a vehicle being flat towed behind a motorhome, you'll need to use a supplemental braking system that's specifically designed to actuate the brake pedal in your towed vehicle.

According to a Certified GMC Tech I checked with, your 2020 GMC Sierra will not register the towed miles if your dashboard is not "live". Meaning, if you do not have the ignition on or in the accessory position when flat towing there will be no power to the electronic items that register the rotation/movement of the wheels.
To flat tow your 2020 GMC Sierra, you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, a lighting solution, and a supplemental braking system. If you need some... view full answer...
A portable braking system won't drain the battery in your 2021 Jeep Gladiator so long as you go with a specific system:
- Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524
The Brake Buddy Select 3 does plug into your Gladiator's 12 volt outlet, however this system is different than others because it comes with a 15 amp charger that will run to the 6-way wiring connector at the front of your Jeep, and when it is plugged into your motorhome's connector, it will constantly... view full answer...
All states, besides Missouri, have varying weight requirements for braking systems. If you could provide the state you're planning on towing through I can find that specific state's requirement or you can check with your local DOT. That being said I HIGHLY recommend using a braking system to ensure the safety of you and your motorhome and towed vehicle.

You will want to check the owner's manual or with a dealership when you consider flat-towing the Honda Fit. Some manufacturers have restrictions as you mentioned for automatic transmissions versus manual transmissions. From my research I found that many people are flat-towing their Fits but the owner's manual from Honda does state the vehicle is not towable.

I took a look at the online owner's manual for a 2020 Ford Fusion Hybrid, and it stated it can be flat towed with four wheels on the ground, or on a trailer with four wheels off the ground, without mention of a tow dolly, so it does not seem to be an option. If you do decide to flat tow your Fusion Hybrid, here are all the recommended parts you need:
- Base Plate Kit: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-524458-5
- Tow Bar: Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar... view full answer...
The general reason a battery needs to be disconnected for flat towing is because there are certain functions that need to be disabled to prevent your vehicle's battery from draining. You wouldn't want to get to your destination and unhook and then have a dead battery and not be able to move your vehicle. You should always follow your vehicle's manual to the letter to prevent damage to your vehicle.

What I think you are asking is if your 2017 Chevrolet Sonic with RS trim is able to be flat towed. We always suggest that you refer to your vehicle specific owners manual for most accurate information as the OEM should be final authority on vehicle specs. However, from the information available to me, it does not appear that the RS trim package equipped models can be safely flat towed.

Miles are not added onto the odometer of the 2021 Jeep Gladiator when it's flat towed. The odometer is electronic, not mechanically driven off the transmission or differential so miles will not accumulate when the vehicle isn't running.
In order to safely flat tow your Gladiator, you'll need base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, a taillight wiring harness, a supplemental braking system and possibly a high/low adapter if the installed height of the base plates has a +/- 3 inch difference... view full answer...
I did some research on the Hydralift site and found that you can flat-tow when using the motorcycle lift. Using an extension in a trailer hitch reduces the capacity of the hitch by 50 percent and I do not recommend that. From the site it appears no extensions are used in the hitch and when the motorcycle is lifted will provide enough clearance to flat-tow, but I cannot find any information about clearance using the Hydralift.

For a 2022 Chevrolet Colorado you only flat tow four-wheel-drive vehicles that have an N (Neutral) and a Four-Wheel Drive Low (4 (n) setting. Look for knob on the dashboard. First apply the parking brake and start the engine. Then shift the transfer case to N (Neutral). Verify that the vehicle is in N (Neutral) by shifting the transmission to R (Reverse) and... view full answer...
