  • Troubleshooting Trailer Error When Using Curt Echo Under-Dash Controller on 2020 Honda Ridgeline
  • Thank you for all of the info! The Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 just requires the trailer lights and 12V power pin to operate properly but the Curt Echo Under-Dash Trailer Brake Controller # C27JR and Custom Wiring Adapter # C51392 require your 2020 Honda Ridgeline to have the tow package so all of the wiring exists on your 7-Way - especially the brake control pin in the 5 o'clock position (see attached). If you grab a tester and put it on that pin and then apply...

  • Troubleshooting 4-Pole Wiring on Re-Wired Boat Trailer
  • The best first step is to isolate the problem to either the tow vehicle wiring or the trailer. Disconnect the boat trailer's 4-pole. Use your vehicle battery (or a spare battery) to directly test the trailer lighting on its own by connecting the 4-pole ground pin to the battery negative terminal and one by one connecting the battery hot terminal to each of the other pins on the trailer's 4-pole. If the trailer lights behave properly when connected in this manner, then you know the problem...

  • Troubleshooting A Malfunctioning Pop & Lock Tailgate Lock On A 2017 Honda Ridgeline
  • Since it's all of a sudden not working that leads me to believe that you may just have a loose connection for your wiring or possibly some corrosion. The actuator for the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock # PAL8600 uses bullet connectors so they could have loosened up over time from bumps in the road. Depending on how you ran the wiring harness you could also have it pinching the wire and could have cut through the casing. I recommend checking the wiring starting at the lock and working your...

  • How to Remove Cap on 2017 Honda Ridgeline to Install Wiring Harness
  • In order to remove the cap to install the # 118778 you need to remove the dark blue fastener from the housing by sliding it rearward. Unfortunately I do not have a picture of the locking tabs but they are on the side of the connector. Pressing down on these tabs will allow you to remove the protective cap on the tow plug. Along with the Tekonsha instructions I have also attached the written instructions for the Curt # C56365 wiring harness which may help you figure this out.

  • Troubleshooting Dim Trailer Lights
  • One of the most common causes of dim lights, is a weak ground. If your ground is rusted or loose, that can affect how lights work on your trailer. The best way to check for a weak ground, is to disconnect your trailer from the vehicle and apply 12 volts directly to the trailer connector. Then apply the negative terminal to the connector ground, and one by one check the pins by applying the positive terminal. If after these checks, your lights are still dim, you'll need to focus on the...

  • On a Trailer Towed by 2008 Honda Ridgeline Trailer has Running Lights but No Turn or Brake Lights
  • If your 2008 Honda Ridgeline has a factory trailer wiring harness, check the owner's manual for any fuses and relays related to the tow package wiring that may need to be replaced. If everything checks out or if you have an aftermarket wiring harness like # 118400 then use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 if needed to test the pins on the connector. If the pins on the connector do not show the proper signals, then you know there is a wiring issue with the Ridgeline wiring that needs to...

  • Key on the Pop & Lock Manual Tailgate Lock is Hard to Remove
  • I spoke to my contact at Pop & Lock about the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock part # PAL6102 on your 2014 Honda Ridgeline. They stated that one of the connecting rods or linkages may or is coming loose. What you will want to do is remove the trim panel on the tailgate and then inspect the locking mechanism in the rear. Place the key into the keyhole and turn it back and forth while making note of the square cutout on the linkage directly behind the lock core. This connection between...

  • Troubleshooting A Pop & Lock Tailgate Lock Installation That's Causing The Remote To No Longer Work
  • Pop & Lock does show the red and green being paired and the yellow and blue wires being paired, but in my experience it's always best to test the wires for their function. Most likely you're spliced into something else and will need to do some testing to find the correct wires in for your specific model. To do this you'll need a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 and will bite into the wires and press the unlock/lock buttons until the tester lights up. You'll also want to check your fuses...

  • Troubleshooting Low Voltage To Trailer Connector On a 2007 Honda Ridgeline
  • The first place that I recommend starting is the battery inside your 2007 Honda Ridgeline. You will need to test the battery voltage with a Multimeter # PT89ZR. Be sure to test the battery in the same condition that you tested the lighting circuits on the trailer connector. Depending on the age and condition of the battery it will typically drop voltage as power is pulled from it. The wiring can also cause a voltage drop depending on the condition of the wiring. Repeat all the tests that...

  • Troubleshooting Turn Signal Issue with Wiring Harness 118400 on a 2007 Honda Ridgeline
  • I would check a few things first, before replacing the unit. First, you should check the ground wire at the screw you should have installed and make sure that it is firmly connected to a clean piece of metal, i.e. a location without paint, rust, or buildup. I also recommend checking the ground wires on your trailer, including the ground on the trailer connector, and any trailer lights. If your trailer lights are grounded through the mounting hardware, make sure that no rust or buildup...

  • Curt Echo Coming Loose From Honda Ridgeline 7-pin Connector
  • I would definitely check that the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 is installed so that the tab on top of the Echo is engaging the tab on the 7-way connector per the included example. These tabs aligning is a security factor to help hold it in place. The Echo requires a good push to make sure it's all the way in the connector and tabs are aligned.

  • Troubleshooting A Pop & Lock Tailgate Lock Actuator That's Constantly Running On A Honda Ridgeline
  • I spoke with Pop & Lock and their tech said that this definitely sounds like you're spliced into the wrong wires and that the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock # PAL8600 is receiving constant power once the vehicle is on, which is why the actuator is constantly running. You'll want to make sure that the wires you splice into are only receiving power when the switch/button is pressed to lock and unlock the tailgate.

  • Troubleshooting Curt 7-Way Wiring Harness Kit C56365 Installed in 2017 Honda Ridgeline
  • Thank you for your purchase of Curt 4-Pole Wiring Harness # C56365 which is a confirmed fit for the 2017 Honda Ridgeline. If you have installed this and found that there is 12V power going into the converter box but nothing is coming out of it then this does tend to suggest it is internally damaged. But you can check the plug both on the harness and on the vehicle side, just in case there is a contact in either connector that could be bent, which would prevent proper contact. The unit...

  • Reverse Lockout Not Working Using 4-Way to 7-Way Adapter on 2008 Honda Ridgeline
  • A 4-Way trailer wiring harness such as # 118400 has the basic lighting functions but does not have a reverse light function and that is what you need to activate an electric reverse lockout on a surge coupler. Since you already have the 4-Way plugged into an adapter to use the 7-Way on the trailer connector you just have to activate the reverse light circuit on that 7-Way adapter. To do this look on the back of the 7-Way adapter. There are likely some wires not connected to anything....

  • Troubleshooting Height Adjustment for Reese Weight Distribution System
  • The Reese Weight Distribution System w Shank - Round Bar - 6,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW # RE34FR is 49911 you referenced. It definitely doesn't sound right that there is more than 4 inches of difference from the base of the hitch ball when inverting your weight distribution shank with closest settings. I'm attaching an article to assist. If you need something that allows more of that middle adjustment, I recommend the Curt Adjustable Weight Distribution Shank - 8" # C17100.

  • Missing Towing Module on 2007 Honda Ridgeline
  • I am not sure what towing module they are talking about. If your 2007 Honda Ridgeline came with the factory tow package that included a 7-Way trailer connector at the back then the only reason any part of the towing package would be missing is if someone removed it. It is also possible that the 7-Way on the vehicle is not a factory 7-Way. So it would appear that you either need to have that missing part installed or hardwire in a different 7-Way connector. It is probably less money to...

  • Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock Stopped Working On 2019 Honda Ridgeline
  • If you're having issues with the Pop & Lock # PAL8600 I would say first check the wires that you routed from your tailgate to under the truck. Make sure that the wires have not been pinched. If it seems to be fine, continue to check the wire to make sure it is still in good condition. In the engine bay you may see that heat may have caused the issue over time. If the wire is fine. Go to the panel under your hood release and test the yellow and red wire when locking and unlocking. You...

  • Brake and Turn Signals Are Not Working On Trailer Towed by a 2006 Honda Ridgeline
  • If your 2006 Honda Ridgeline came with a factory 7-Way trailer connector and it was working before but now it is not, check the vehicle owners manual for the fuse/relay locations related to the tow package wiring to see if any need to be replaced. That is the most likely cause. If the trailer wiring was added aftermarket then there could be a ground problem or a dirty/corroded connector. Check the grounding location and make sure that it is attached to a clean and corrosion free bare metal...

  • How To Gain Access To A Pop & Lock Tailgate Lock When You Have A Tonneau Cover In The Way
  • Since you have a cover it's going to be a bit harder to gain access and open the tailgate. You can try to see if you can get your hand under the cover since there should be a bulb seal at the tailgate that you could probably get your hand in through and unlatch the cover to get access to the inside of the tailgate. You could also try removing the trim panel around the tailgate handle and seeing if there's enough access with it removed to get your fingers in there an actuate the lock yourself....

  • Troubleshooting No Power on 4-Way Harness for 2006 Honda Ridgeline
  • The Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118400 referenced in your question is indeed confirmed to fit your 2006 Honda Ridgeline. If you are receiving no power on any of the circuits of the installed 4-Way, I recommend completely removing the wiring harness and simply re-installing it. It's possible that you may have missed something during the initial installation that you will catch when going through the steps again. Sometimes there will be a couple of ports, similar in design,...
