Curt Echo Coming Loose From Honda Ridgeline 7-pin Connector

Question:

We just bought the Curt Echo and it keeps coming loose from our 2019 Honda Ridgeline’s 7-pin connector, thereby losing all power to the trailer. The Curt only goes into the connection shaft about one inch. What can we do to insure the unit stays linked to the connector?

I would definitely check that the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 is installed so that the tab on top of the Echo is engaging the tab on the 7-way connector per the included example. These tabs aligning is a security factor to help hold it in place. The Echo requires a good push to make sure it's all the way in the connector and tabs are aligned.

The Curt Echo connection to our Honda Ridgeline does not remain into the Honda 7.pin connector. There is no way to keep it engaged on the Honda side. The trailer side stays connected.

The Curt Echo # C51180 is designed to have a spring loaded 7-way cover hold onto the tab integrated in the design. If your 7-way doesn't have that cover, you can either replace your 7-way on your Honda with the Mighty Cord Replacement 7-Way RV-Style Trailer Connector for Factory Tow Package # A10-7072VP or # HM40975. These options connect to your factory harness but will give you the spring door and latch that will keep your brake controller in place.
