There are a couple of things that can lead to the tires wearing on the inside only. Basically what is happening is the top of the tire is leaning in towards the trailer causing most of the weight to ride on the inside. This pretty much means the axle is bent, especially if both sides have the same problem. If it were just one side, there is a chance that is just the spindle that is bent. It will keep wearing on the inside until the issue is resolved and that could mean a new axle.

I hate to say it, but the company who installed your harness is probably right. We see what you are describing pretty often and the problem is almost always a short on the trailer. Or its that the lights on the trailer draw too much amperage for the converter and it shorts out like that.

There could be a couple of issues here. The more lights you add, the more power they draw. If the combined amperage draw of the lights exceeds the amperage rating of the vehicle side wiring system then either some lights will not light up or you could blow a fuse on the vehicle side.
