Troubleshooting a 2013 Ford Edge that Keeps Blowing Taillight Converter Boxes
Question:
2013 Ford Edge with aftermarket trailer hitch. For the second time after using my trailer, The fuse for my vehicle brake lights is blown. After the first time, the installer replaced the converter box. Now it seems the converter has failed again as the vehicle fuse blows immediately even with no connection between the vehicle and the trailer. The only way I could restore my brake lights was to disconnect the t-connectors behind the tail light assembly. Hitch installer believes the problem may be a short in the trailer wiring Hope to find problem before installing another converter.

Usually when trailer wiring causes fuses to blow it is because there is a short somewhere on the trailer wiring. Before you replace anymore wiring components you need to track down that short and fix it so that you don't have to buy any more converter boxes than needed.
I attached a couple FAQ articles that should help you troubleshoot and find the short.
