There are a few things that you can do to troubleshoot the tow bar or dinghy wiring on your 2016 Ford Edge.
The first thing that I recommend you do is check in the owner's manual for specific instructions. Some cars have special instructions to ensure that the lighting works and nothing happens to the vehicle's engine while being towed.
The second thing that you can do is use a Circuit Tester, like part # PTW2993, to check the wiring harness on the RV to make sure that it is actually sending power to the harness. If it is not then you will need to follow the wiring that is not working along the frame of the RV and check for any places where the wiring is exposed, corroded, or damaged.
If everything is working fine on the RV end then you will need to use the circuit tester to make sure that a signal is actually getting to the plugs on the Hopkins Wiring Kit # HM56011. If the signal is not getting to the plugs then you will want to follow the same procedure for the Hopkins Kit.
You might also need to install the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit # RM-88400 if you are seeing issues with the brakes activating when a turn signal is used on the RV.
