Hi Fred,
It's possible there is a 5th wheel hitch for your 2022 Ford F-250 that can give you a bit more clearance, but you'll need to compare that to where your current hitch sits. What may work for you is the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w Slider for Ford Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3370.
The # BWRVK3370 has arms you can reposition, and when they are in the position furthest from the cab, the kingpin will be 1" in front of the axle. I'm not certain where your kingpin sits... view full answer...
Since your 2024 Ford F-350 does not have the factory 5th wheel prep and Reese does not offer an under bed rail kit at this time(5/22/2024) you are going to have to install a standard 5th wheel Rail Kit # C26ZV. Then you will be able to use the Curt PowerRide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C22ER which fits the rail kit. We have no way to use the Curt PowerRide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ford Towing Prep Package # C48BR without the factory under bed. If you already have this 5th wheel hitch we... view full answer...
There isn't one all encompassing kit that I'm aware of, so I'd recommend using a two camera setup like the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System # RVS-770614 and adding a third camera with # VGR84VR.
This kit comes with a 7" LCD monitor that can support up to 3 cameras so you can watch your 5th wheel, tailgate, and the back of your trailer. view full answer...
Hey Laverne,
You can use some brake cleaner to remove any dirt/grease/debris build up on the springs and then lubricate them with a white lithium grease # RM-747 to lubricate without attracting more dirt. If the latches need to be replaced you'll want to reach out to Stromberg Carlson to avoid having to repurchase the entire tailgate. view full answer...
Hey Gary,
To install a Curt 5th wheel trailer hitch in the bed of your 2021 Ram 1500 with a 6.5' bed you'll first need some base rails. For this I recommend the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Ram # C16307-204. These will place the first base rail 28 7/8" from the tailgate end of the bed so that the jaws of the hitch sit over the axle to properly handle the weight of the trailer.
Since you have a 6-1/2' bed I highly recommend going with a sliding 5th wheel hitch to give... view full answer...
Hi Jim,
The rails will have specific measurements for their placement that could be slightly different between brands/models so you'll really want to determine what you have first and look up their specific directions. If you don't have rails yet then you can use the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50140-58. The first rail of this kit will need to sit 24-1/4" from the end of the bed (tailgate side). view full answer...
Since your 2023 Keystone Cougar 24RDS has the MaxTurn Radius front cap you would not have to worry about turning clearance as that front end was designed for short bed turning clearance without requiring a slider. So with a Goose Box like the RP85FR and the offset ball part # GY83XR you'd have plenty of turning clearance and you'd never have to mess with a heavy fifth wheel hitch again. view full answer...
For a 5th wheel trailer up to 25K the Curt Kit # C16430-204 will have the custom fit brackets to fit your frame and industry standard rails for most all 5th wheel hitches. If your 2014 Ram 3500 is capable of towing over 25K and you plan to then the Kit # C25BR is rated up to 40,000lbs. This also contains custom mounted frame brackets and the industry standard rails to work with most 5th wheel hitches.
Be sure to pick up a 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness # 41157 so you can... view full answer...
Hey Chris,
There are a couple options for you to carry your bikes in the bed of your 2020 Ford F-150 with the tonneau cover open, but the Thule Bed Rider Pro # TH38YC requires the use of the inside of the truck's rails, which is how your roll-up tonneau attaches to your truck. One thing you can do instead is use a couple of the Thule Insta-Gater Pro Truck Bed Bike Rack # TH93VR.
The # TH93VR attaches with set straps that go through your tailgate opening, so you just close your tailgate... view full answer...
Hey Charlene, it sounds like you're looking for a 5th wheel cover for your 2013 Keystone Alpine Fifth Wheel. If that's the case I recommend checking out the Adco Olefin HD RV Cover for 5th Wheel Toy Haulers up to 40' Long # AD79ZR.
This 5th wheel cover will fit 5th wheels from 37'1" to 40' long, measures 40' 6" long x 9' wide x 10' 6" tall, and is made of triple layer polypropylene which provide protection in all weather. view full answer...
To add a set of 5th wheel rails to your 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500, I recommend the Curt item # C16429-204. This set of rails is industry standard which means it will work with most 5th wheel hitches on the market. The brackets are custom fit and install in pre-existing holes in your Silverado's frame.
To make towing with a 5th wheel easier, I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness item # C58FV. This harness puts a 7-way connector in the bed of your Silverado... view full answer...
The B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch w/ Custom Installation Kit - 30,000 lbs item # BWGNRK1320 you referenced is a confirmed fit for your 2020 Ram 2500 without the OEM prep package. The turnover ball system does work with the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch item # BWRVK3500-5W. This system will work great but you will need a rotating pin box like the Reese Sidewinder. Without the rotating pin box you will not have the clearance for towing without hitting your Ramboxes.... view full answer...
Hi Jaime,
So it sounds like you are wanting to replace the pin box on your 5th wheel trailer with an adapter that connects to a gooseneck ball. That is definitely something you can do, but there isn't enough information here for me to answer what would work best for you. Reason for that is the specific pin box model and your trailer weight is needed to get the right adapter.
For example, if your 5th wheel trailer has a Lippert 1621 pin box, weighs no more than 21,000 lbs, and has a 2,500... view full answer...
Hi Geoff; normally we need to know the bed length and whether or not you have the prep package to find out what is required to install a 5th wheel on a truck. Since we know the 2011 Silverado 2500 doesn't have a prep package you will need to install rails and then choose a 5th wheel hitch.
I personally recommend getting a B&W 5th wheel hitch for your setup. B&W is known for their quality and makes a hitch that will give you a nice smooth ride. If you go with the Patriot you get 3/4" thick... view full answer...
There would've been a package that whoever was the original owner could've selected that gave them in bed rails to tow a 5th wheel. Seeing as though that's long gone, you're going to have to add them yourself with the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC # C16418-204.
I also recommend adding the 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Plug # 50-97-410 to the bed of your truck. This is going to make hooking and unhooking your 5th wheel so much easier and... view full answer...
Hello Mike, thanks for reaching out. You are certainly going to be cutting it close with the 16K hitch. Knowing the exact loaded weight of the 5th wheel would be nice, because if you do have it loaded to over 16K, you are taking a huge risk by using a 16K hitch. If it were me, I would definitely upgrade to a 20K just for the peace of mind alone.
It sounds like your truck already has a set of 5th wheel rails installed in the bed, and if so, you will not need to change them out. Most 5th... view full answer...
I do have an option for you as with the Lippert Turning Point Pin Box you cannot use a 5th wheel hitch like the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3400-5W. This is due to the single attachment point of this particular style hitch.
If you wish to keep the same clean bed style as the B&W with your short bed(5-1/2') 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 you will need the Underbed Rail and Installation Kit # DM8551008. This will allow you to use their Demco Hijacker UMS Series Gooseneck... view full answer...
Congrats on the new trailer! It looks like a 2023 Keystone Cougar 31' 5th wheel trailer tops out somewhere around 10,000 lbs depending on which model you're getting. A 5th wheel hitch like the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter for Recessed Ball item # DM8550046 or the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter for standard gooseneck hitches item # DM8550045 would both have plenty of capacity. These hitches max out at 21,000 lbs so you would be good both... view full answer...
Hey Gary,
The rule of thumb with towing is to only use about 80-85% of the total capacity to leave a 10-15% buffer for safety. Using this method a 20k rated fifth wheel hitch would be good for trailer's with a GVWR up to around 16,000 - 17,000lbs. I would check the white sticker that should be on the driver's side of the trailer at the front for the GVWR.
Since you have a 6-1/2' bed you'll want to go with a sliding base hitch like the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider... view full answer...
