Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch and Rails for a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500
Question:
I have a GMC sierra 1500 sle truck and a small 5th wheel travel trailer. Is there a package for my type of truck to tow the 5th wheel trailer? Also. What are your thoughts on towing a 5th wheel with a sierra 1500?

There would've been a package that whoever was the original owner could've selected that gave them in bed rails to tow a 5th wheel. Seeing as though that's long gone, you're going to have to add them yourself with the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC # C16418-204.
I also recommend adding the 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Plug # 50-97-410 to the bed of your truck. This is going to make hooking and unhooking your 5th wheel so much easier and present a cleaner look.
It looks like your truck has towing capacities ranging from 4,100 up to 9,000 pounds, so I don't see any issue towing a small 5th wheel just as long as you're not overloading your truck.
If you're looking for any hitch recommendations as well, I recommend checking out the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30047. This hitch has a nice 16K capacity, so it'd be much more than you're going to need, has a 4K vertical load limit and has 3 1/2" of height adjustment.
You're also going to need to use a rotating pin box like the Reese Sidewinder # RP34FR in order to get the clearance needed when turning.
