When using the Curt hitch carrier part # C18110 in a 1-1/4 inch hitch you'd need to take off the 2 inch hitch adapter on the end of the shank. This will allow it to fit the smaller hitch size. If the leveling of your brake controller isn't working properly that wouldn't indicate a problem with the vehicle. Instead that would indicate the controller is either not level side to side or has an internal problem. This is actually the second Voyager I've seen in the past couple days with this exact problem. We are talking about 2 different animals. A motorcycle carrier does not reduce the tongue weight capacity of a trailer hitch like a hitch extender does. So if the tongue weight capacity of the hitch AND vehicle is greater than the combined weight of the bike and motorcycle carrier then you are within the capacity and will be good to go.

Most likely what would cause the sway control plate to bend is from backing up your trailer in a tight situation. The sharp turning when backing up would cause the friction sway control to be completely compressed and then put the strain on the sway control plate and cause it to bend. With the trailer being 28 feet long that would probably put you in more situations where you might encounter sharp turning when backing up.
