  • How to Install Tire Cable Chains on a 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon
  • I am not sure I understand what you mean by split connector. If you take a look at the attached review video, you will see how the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains part # PW1046 should be installed on your 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon with 225/60-18 tires. You will first start by draping the cables over the tire and then aligning the opening towards the ground. Once you have the opening towards the ground you can then connect the cables on each side and pull to tighten them. Once they are tight...

  • I can help you find the parts you will need to install a Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 on your 2016 Forest River Forester on a Sprinter 3500 chassis. The P3 will need to be hardwired since there is not a custom wiring harness available for the 2016 Sprinter 3500. The parts you will need to install the brake controller are: Approximately 35 feet of duplex wire # 10-2-1 30 amp circuit breaker # 38630 A 5 pack of 10-12 heat shrink butt connectors # DW05745-5 2 yellow ring...

  • Would Redarc Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1225D Cause Backfeeding Problem with Vehicle Wiring
  • The Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1225D that you referenced would not allow amperage or voltage to backfeed onto the vehicle trailer wiring to the point of causing any issues. With DC power it's okay to have more than one power source connected on the same circuit and there won't be any problems. AC power is a different story but that's not something you'd need to worry about.

  • Taillight Converter Needed for 2012 Mercedes Sprinter
  • You're going to need a taillight converter. A taillight converter will take three lighting circuits from your Sprinter, the right turn, left turn and brake lamp and combine those into two circuits that the trailer can use, right turn + brake lamp and left turn + brake lamp. I'd recommend the # C59236. You'll also need a length of extra 16 gauge wire which is sold by the foot, part # 16-1-1. You'll need about 16 feet of wire, which is what our installer used in the video I've linked for you.

  • Where Does Safety Bolt of Trailer Valet 5x Install
  • It sounds like you are referring to the security bolt which is part 21b in the attached diagram. The security bolt was designed to keep the Trailer Valet part # STC-V211 in place when the device is rotated to the stow position, and as an extra safety precaution to prevent theft. It does not inhibit the device from being used properly. If you plan to remove the Trailer Valet after every use then you have the option of not installing the bolt and keeping it somewhere safe. Should you choose...

  • Installation of Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar # RM-1209-131 in 2015 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
  • There is no set number of washers that should be left over after installation of the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar # RM-1209-131 on your 2015 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Roadmaster does not specify this in their instructions since vehicle manufacturing tolerances can vary among production years and even between different vans of the same year. The linked photo shows the installation point for the 9/16-inch washers. You will install one on the outboard side of the end link and as many as needed...

  • Alternate Hardware to Install Roadmaster RM-1209-131 Anti-Sway Bar on 2015 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
  • I typically do not recommend folks deviate from the manufacturer's installation instructions because all the development, testing and engineering work has been done with a given product installed in a particular manner. I spoke with my contact in the tech services department at Roadmaster, who told me that they haven't had ANY reports of this occurring. Changing to a grade 8 bolt and using a thicker washer would be fine. He's guessing that in this particular instance the bolts started...

  • Can Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller be Mounted Backwards
  • The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 that you referenced( and also the P3 # 90195) can be mounted backwards so that the display is facing the front of the vehicle as long as you also mount it upside down for it to work properly in this orientation. With that being said, I don't recommend mounting a brake controller beneath the driver's seat like you mentioned. In addition to not being able to see the display screen to look for current settings or error codes, the manual...

  • Adding a Brake Controller to a 2012 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter with 7-Way Trailer Connector
  • Since your 2012 Mercedes Sprinter does not have the wiring to plug in a brake controller but does have a 7-Way trailer connector you will need to do a little hardwiring to install a controller such as # 90195. You will need installation kit # 5506. From the kit you will use the wire, 30 amp circuit breaker, and ring terminals. On the brake controller the white wire will ground to the negative battery terminal. The black wire will connect to the positive terminal via the 30 amp circuit...

  • Does Brake Controller Manual Override Get Used with Normal Braking or Emergency Situations
  • The manual override on a brake controller is used independently of the regular braking function. It can be used for emergency situations, which is why it has to be within easy reach of the driver. Or if you have a controller that only applies trailer brakes if it senses movement and need to hold the trailer, such as going up or down hills, the manual override should be used.

  • How to Adjust Electric Drum Trailer Brakes with Video
  • On electric drum brakes there is a star wheel at the bottoms of the assemblies that you can turn using a flat head screw driver or brake adjusting tool # W80630. Turning the wheel one way will bring the shoes closer in and turning it the other way pushes the shoes out more. You will adjust the brakes using that wheel until there is a slight but constant drag of the shoe pads on the drum. I have included a link to a video and at about the 4:39 mark our installed begins adjusting the brakes.

  • Installing A Brake Controller In A 2012 Winnebago Itasca With Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Chassis
  • For your 2012 Winnebago Sprinter Itasca, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller # 90195. This is a proportional brake controller meaning that your trailer brakes will be applied at the same time and the same intensity as you hit the brake pedal in your motorhome. This controller has an easy to read LCD screen that sets it apart from others because there is no code deciphering necessary. Due to the wiring system of your vehicle, you will need access the wires located under...

  • To find the cold side of the stop light circuit on a vehicle like your 2014 2014 Mercedes Sprinter you need to use a circuit tester like the part # PTW2993 to test all of the wires going to the brake switch. You will want to find the circuit that sees 12 volts when the brakes are applied and none when the brakes are released. It SHOULD be a pink wire with a green stripe. It sounds like you may be installing a brake controller so I attached a link to a page on how to install brake controllers...

  • Wiring a Brake Controller to a 2015 Mercedes Benz Sprinter with Brake Controller Harness
  • On a brake controller like the # 90885 the black wire is the 12 volt power wire, the white wire is the ground wire, the blue wire is the brake output, and the red wire is the stoplight switch. You would need to test the green harness you have found to determine what the functions of the pins on it are. The one with voltage all of the time would be for the black wire, the one with voltage when the brakes are applied is for the red wire. Ground the tester to the constant 12-volt power...
