  • How To Install 7-Way Trailer Connector On 2006 GMC Sierra
  • The 2006 GMC Sierra's all come with a US Car Connector which is a pigtail used to install a trailer connector. Once you locate this, you'd simply plug-in a trailer connector which uses the US Car Connector like the Custom Multi-Tow 7-Way and 4-Way Trailer Connector part # 30955. I have attached a video which shows the location of the pigtail. If your model does not have the pigtail, you'd had to hardwire a different harness like the 4 to 7-Way with 4-Way Adapter part # ETBC7 which requires...

  • Review for the BAK Roll-X Hard Tonneau Cover # BAK36100
  • I attached a review video for the BAK Roll-X Hard Tonneau Cover # BAK39100 that you referenced that shows how it opens and closes. It's a really nice cover that I think you would really like and is confirmed to fit your 2009 GMC Sierra 1500 with a 5-1/2 foot bed.

  • Need for Charger on Battery on Trailer Break-Away System
  • I strongly recommend using the charger. The charger, like part # 20011 will protect the break away battery from overcharging or charging too quickly. The charger is a small investment, and it is easy to install. If you should decide that you are interested in the charger, it would wire as follows: the black wire would connect to the 12-volt supply circuit off of the 7-way, the red wire attaches to the positive terminal of the break away battery, and the blue wire connects to the break...

  • Can I Install a 30amp and 50 amp Plug In with the Progressive Dynamics RV Power Control Center
  • I don't recommend doing this when you're installing the Progressive Dynamics RV Power Control Center with AC/DC Panel and Converter/Smart Charger - 75 Amp # PD4575K18LS8 since a 50amp plug can be used on 30 amp service with an adapter like the Mighty Cord RV Power Cord Adapter - 50 Amp Female to 30 Amp Male - 12" Long # A10-3050FBK. You'll simply run your 50 amp cord to the RV plug as normal and then install the adapter on the service end. If you don't already have a 50 amp RV power cord,...

  • Where is the Brake Controller Port Located on a 2005 GMC Yukon Denali
  • The brake controller port on your 2005 GMC Yukon Denali will be located in the black junction box, which is under the dashboard and to the left of your steering column, right above the carpet. The plug in point will be the second port from the left, on the top row. I have included a link to instructions for a brake control wiring adapter # 3015-P that plugs in at this same point, if needed. If you do not already have a brake controller, I would recommend the Prodigy P2 # 90885, which...

  • How to install the Etrailer Class III hitch part # e98849 on a 2011 GMC Sierra
  • The bolt closest to the front of the vehicle in the photo you sent, once it's removed the hole does not get used with the Etrailer hitch Item # e98849. The hitch will actually use the two rear most holes on each frame rail and the two holes in the bottom of the bumper. The reason one bolt is facing up is because the hole closest to the rear of the vehicle is a pre-existing weld nut that the bolt actually threads into. The bolt facing down will use a spacer block to keep the head of the...

  • Installation Of Hopkins Tow Bar Wiring For 2011 GMC Sierra Pickup Truck
  • I pulled one of the Hopkins Tow Bar Wiring Kit, part # HM56101 from our warehouse to take a look at the installation instructions. It can be confusing since they show the junction box that can be used on either the driver side or the passenger side. If you look on the frame at the rear of your truck on the driver side it will be adjacent to the spare tire. There will be 4 connectors plugged into the junction box. You will need to find the blue connector and disconnect it. Then plug the...

  • Will I Install a Draw-Tite Activator the Same Way on a 2006 GMC Sierra as a 2005 Chevy Avalanche
  • Physically installing and mounting the brake controller # 5504 will be the same. As always, before you drill your mounting holes, check for clearance so that you do not pierce any wires. If you use a plug-in harness for your brake controller, the two trucks should have the same brake controller port.

  • Advice For Installing Leaf Springs on a Double Axle Trailer
  • The easiest way to accomplish this would be to start on one side of the trailer and get the springs in place before bolting the axle to the springs with the u-bolts. Have the axle up on jacks or blocks so its weight is not bearing on the springs. Once the springs are in place on both sides, the shackles will be in the correct orientation so you can attach the axles. The key is to do one side of the trailer at a time. I have included an FAQ article on double eye and slipper springs below.

  • Installation of a Reverse lockout Circuit or Brake Controller on a 2000 GMC Sierra
  • I believe we can help. We will need to determine whether you have a trailer with surge brakes or with electric brakes. Surge brakes on trailers are not electrically activated, they are activated by the pressure created between the vehicle and trailer when the vehicle slows. Many times surge brake couplers have an electric lockout, so the trailer can be backed without applying the brakes. This electrical connection is spliced into the vehicles backup light circuit so the lockout is activated...

  • How to Install a 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector on a 2007 GMC Sierra Extended Cab 4X4 Pickup
  • You can connect the 4-Pole 48 inch Long Vehicle End (with 4 Wire Taps), item # 118001, to the existing trailer wiring harness behind the plug that is located above the spare tire on your Sierra if it is not equipped with a factory trailer connector. To do so you will need to use a circuit tester to identify the wires that right turn and brake signal, the left turn and brake signal, and the tail light signal. Once you have found these wires and labeled them you will connect the white wire...

  • Can I Install a Reese 16K Slider 5th Wheel on Both a 2003 Chevy 2500 and 2006 GMC 3500
  • Yes. The 16K Reese 5th Wheel hitch will fit in your 2006 GMC Silverado 3500 with 8 foot bed. But a slider 5th wheel is not necessary for an 8 foot bed ,it can still be used of course! You can lock it in place if you wanted with Pull Pin Lock Plates, # RP58093. You will need to install Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Custom Installation Kit with Brackets and Rails, # RP50064-58, if you do not already have an installation kit on the 2006 GMC. I have included a link to the instructions below. You...

  • To install the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 in your 2003 GMC Sierra 2500 series, you would use the Wiring Adapter, part # 3015-P. This adapter features a connector on each end, one side plugs in under the dash, the other end would plug into your Prodigy P2 brake controller, with no cutting or splicing required. The adapter would plug into the wiring block located behind the emergency brake pedal. The black cover on the junction box would be removed, and the adapter plugged...

  • Yes you are correct. On your 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD there is a stud for the 12 volt circuit located at the front left corner of the power distribution box (if standing at the front of the truck looking at the motor). I have included a picture that shows it (as a red wire, the actual wire is likely black) and the fuse associated with it. I have also linked a help article, part of which will help with the 12 volt circuit.

  • How to Remove Existing Damaged 7-Way on 2002 GMC Sierra and Install Replacement Part # PK11916
  • It is a bit easier to detach the socket from the 7-way if you remove the assembly from the bracket first. Twist the assembly to the right, and pull toward you. Once the 7-way is free of the bracket, you will see a clip on the top of the connector. Simply depress the clip, and pull the damaged socket apart from the connector. Push the replacement onto the connector until the clip clicks into place, and replace into the bracket. I have a video that will also show how this is done. The video...

  • Will the K Source Towing Mirrors # KS62093-94G Work with Memory Setting on 2008 GMC Sierra
  • The memory setting feature in OEM vehicles is a patented feature that aftermarket manufacturers are not allowed to duplicate. This means the K Source Custom Towing Mirrors, # KS62093-94G will not work with the memory settings. I spoke with my contact at K Source and he told me that there are instructions on how to disengage the memory settings for the mirrors included in the box. If the memory setting is not disengaged when you install the K Source Custom Extendable Towing Mirrors, #...
