The important thing to consider is that any towing system is only as strong as its lowest rated component. According to my research, the 2004 Rendezvous is rated to tow 2000 pounds, 3500 pounds for the Ultra model. If the hitch with the 5000 pound capacity is indeed the correct one for your vehicle it can certainly be used, but the towing capacity of your Buick will be limited to the 2000 or 3500 lb manufacturer stated towing capacity.

Your trailer tires work out roughly to be the same size as a 225/70-15 tire or a 215/80-15 tire. By my calculations the 225/70-15 tire is 27.4 inches tall and 8.9 inches wide and the 215/80-15 tire is 28.6 inches tall and 8.5 inches wide.

They told me if the Class ll hitch you currently have installed is part # 36425, the Class lll Draw-Tite hitch, part # 75430 should line up the same. The tow package on your vehicle does not utilize a plug, you do not need one. The tow package wires are located under the dash, and can be accessed by removing the two screws that hold the trim piece on the bottom edge of the dashboard. According to my research, the 2003 Buick Rendezvous cannot be flat towed unless a transmission lube pump has been installed. This would hold true for either the FWD or the AWD model.

I went out to the warehouse and pulled a Recessed Trailer D-Ring Tie Down with Backing Plate and Hardware, # RR5K. The ring has an inner diameter of 1-1/4 inches and an outer diameter of 2.108 inches. The ring is approximately 0.427 inches thick.

The best spot to install the transmission cooler is in front of the radiator, where it will get maximum air flow. If necessary it can be mounted behind the radiator, if there is sufficient clearance for installation.

The 3000 lb rating for the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System refers to any load carried in the cargo area of the vehicle and applied to the rear axle, not the towing capacity. The only effect that towing would have on the Timbren system would be any tongue weight exerted on the vehicle by the trailer.
