The plugs on the # 118457 and the # 118551 are identical, so technically the 118457 would work on the 2008 Escape, but there's a good reason why the Engineering folks at Tow Ready specifiy that only the # 118551 should be used on the 2008 Ford Escape.
In the opinion of the engineers, the wiring system of the Escape didn't have the capacity to feed the vehicle lamps AND the lights used on a trailer. If a powered converter like the 118551 is used, the power to actually illuminate the trailer... view full answer...
Yes, you can use Curt cargo carrier # C18110 on a Class I trailer hitch to carry your scooter as long as it fits on the 20 x 48 inch carrier.
Also, the hitch and the vehicle will have to have tongue weight capacities that exceed the combined weight of the scooter and carrier. The carrier weighs about 45 pounds so combined with the 100 pound scooter that would be 145 pounds. All of the trailer hitches for the 2014 Ford Focus have a 200 pound tongue weight capacity so the hitch would be... view full answer...

The Curt Trailer Hitch # C11158 is a Class I hitch, like each of the hitch options for your 2012 Ford Focus. While there are high-quality bike racks that will work for you, the Yamaha HoldUp # Y02445 is only compatible with Class II hitches so it would not be a fit.
A premium rack similar to the HoldUp that I highly recommend checking out is the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 # SH12G. The Sherpa is a hitch-mounted, 2-bike rack with a weight capacity of 40 lbs per bike that uses ratcheting hooks and wheel... view full answer...
On your 2003 Ford Focus SE Wagon it does not require any fuse box. What they might have been telling you is on some of the newer model cars that use a 3-wire system (separate turn and brake lights) they will use a powered converter box that protects feedback from going from the trailer back to the vehicle.
Your 2003 Ford Focus SE Wagon uses a 2-wire system (turn and brake lights are same circuit) so there is no need for a converter.
You can use a powered converter system like the Wiring... view full answer...

The Tow Ready # 118457 T-One connector you referenced is not compatible with a 2007 Focus, as the taillight assemblies were a bit different.
For the 2007 model, you'd need to hardwire the trailer connector, using part # 18252. The installation is pretty simple. All you'll need to do is use the circuit tester included in the kit to determine which circuit serves which lamps, and tap the green wire into the right turn circuit, yellow wire into the left turn circuit and brown wire into the... view full answer...

Then you should run the power wire between the positive post and battery disconnect.
I also asked SMI about the braking system being activated when the turn signals are used. They said it was likely that this was happening because the sensitivity knob is set... view full answer...

Rarely would I say a Class III hitch is overkill. Even if it technically is.
A Class III hitch is much more versatile with accessories than a Class I or II. It's a lot easier to find things to fit the 2 inch receiver than the 1-1/4 inch. Also, if you have an accessory that doesn't fit the hitch you have it's easier to get a reducer for a lower rated accessory than an expander for a higher rated one. If it's rated higher you then have to worry about whether your hitch has the capacity.
