The brakes on your trailer are electric brakes. That oval piece towards the bottom is the brake magnet and is what ultimately controls the brake action. The 2014 GMC Savana does not have a brake controller installation port under the dash, but certainly one of the other connectors under the dash could easily resemble one. A brake controller wiring adapter will have 4 prongs that carry 12V power for the controller, the ground connection, a brake light switch input signal and a 4th that carries the controller output to the trailer connector on a blue wire. If you had to install a 4-way trailer wiring harness on your 2015 GMC Savana for trailer wiring you would not have the brake controller wiring port under the dash and would need to hardwire the controller in.
