Recommended 7 Way Wiring Harness for 2004 GMC Savana Cutaway
Question:
Looking to add trailer wiring to my 2004 Savana Cutaway Cube van. Want to make sure I get the correct wiring harness. to the best of my knowledge it does not have a factory tow package. If possible I would like to add the wiring for a brake controller, too. Thank you

Since you don't already have the factory wiring for a towing package on your 2004 GMC Savana Cutaway 3500, you'll first need to add a 4 way connector; to do this I recommend using the Tekonsha 4-pole Hardwire Kit with Circuit Tester # 18252 which will need to be hardwired into your vehicle electrical system.
From there, to add the appropriate wiring for a brake controller, you need to add the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 , which will put a 7 way connector on the back of your 2004 Savana Cutaway and give you the connection for a brake controller- you'll need to run the blue brake controller wire to the back of your vehicle and connect it to the new 7 way. You'll also need to connect the 12v power and backup lights to the remaining wires but this will give your 2004 Savana Van a functional 7 way connection at the back of your vehicle. This will allow you to tow trailers with brakes as well as those needing auxiliary power.
If you need a brake controller to go with the new 7 way connector in your 2004 Savana Cutaway Cube Van, I recommend going with the Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 and wiring harness # 20127 which will provide an easier installation of your brake controller.
You may need some additional wire for this project; you can purchase 10 gauge wire by the foot with part # 10-2-1
