For a stainless steel hitch pin I recommend the Master Lock Pivot Lock Hitch Pin for 2" Hitches - 5/8" Diameter - Stainless Steel # ML1465DAT.
The Master Lock pin is really nice because it doesn't need a separate clip, it has a rotating barrel at the end which you turn to keep the clip securely in place.
For a hitch pin and clip with a rubber grip the best option is the Curt Pin and Clip For Class III, IV and V Trailer Hitch Receiver with Rubberized Plastic Grip # C21510.

To get the clip of the included pin and clip of the Curt Hitch part # C11124 you will need to basically just need to try various angles of the pin while trying to insert the clip so that you can eventually find the right angle/orientation of the clip so that it will insert all the way into the pin.
You may even try running it up from underneath the safety chain loop if there is access there.
You should also note that you don't have to fully insert the pin. You just need to get it to the... view full answer...
With a threaded hitch pin, a clip is just a fail safe. When the threaded pin is properly tightened down it will not come out and so the clip is not required. I made a short video that demonstrates putting a clip on hitch pin that might help. view full answer...

On the Swagman Trailhead Hitch Bike Rack, # S63360, the hitch pin is a threaded bolt (no nut) and uses a clip. The hitch pin will thread into the shank of the bike rack and then after it is tightened down the clip is inserted through the hitch pin.
We also offer a Swagman Locking Threaded Hitch Pin, # S64029, that will allow you to lock the bike rack to the receiver hitch.
I am sending the instructions on the bike rack and it shows the hitch pin and how it connects. view full answer...

A hitch ball and a hitch pin and clip each serve a different purpose. A hitch ball, like # 19247, attaches to the ball mount, like # C45010, using a large nut that threads on from the bottom, kind of like a nut and bolt. This ball is what the trailer coupler attaches to.
The hitch pin like # PC3 goes through the ball mount and the trailer hitch and the clip keeps it from coming out while traveling. There are also locking hitch pins that use a lock and not a clip like # e98880.

The Clip that is included with the # PC3 hitch pin is made of spring steel. The spring action of the clip holds it onto the grooved end of the hitch pin, keeping the hitch pin from sliding out of the hitch receiver tube. There is no weight bearing on the clip so it is not subjected to forces strong enough to remove clip. Hitch pins do not carry a specific class rating. Typically, if it is the correct length and diameter for your hitch (6 inches long x 5/8 inch thick) it will automatically have a rating appropriate for its application. Usually hitch pins have a shear strength rating far in excess of their load requirements.
I did pull one from inventory and take measurements with a precision caliper. The diameter of the clip hole is 0.28 inch. The diameter of the pin itself is 0.18 inch.
