How Does One Use Part # PC3 In Conjunction With A Trailer Hitch Cover

Question:

I recently purchased a MSU Spartan Trailer Hitch Cover as a gift for Christmas. The Customer Rep on the phone suggested a Pin and Clip to hold it in place. For the life of me, I cannot figure how the two work together. As I said, this is for a gift for a friend who asked for the Hitch Cover, so maybe they know. It seems to me like there should be hole drilled through the Pin, so that the Clip has something to slide and lock into to keep it from falling out. Maybe Im overthinking the whole thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The Clip that is included with the # PC3 hitch pin is made of spring steel. The spring action of the clip holds it onto the grooved end of the hitch pin, keeping the hitch pin from sliding out of the hitch receiver tube. There is no weight bearing on the clip so it is not subjected to forces strong enough to remove clip. When installing the Michigan State Spartans hitch cover, item # AMG100277, you will insert the cover into the 2 inch reciever hitch on the vehicle and secure it with the hitch pin, then, secure the hitch pin with the clip.

If you are thinking you would like to provide your friend with a more secure option for securing the hitch cover, I would recommend the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, item # e98880. This locking hitch pin is one of our best sellers.
