  • Where Is the Brake Controller Plug On a 2019 Ford Explorer
  • The brake controller port on a 2019 Ford Explorer should be located behind the glove box on the passenger side or underneath and left of the steering column near the emergency brake pedal. That said, I say should because the location of the brake controller port is not always as exact as one would think and can vary between vehicles. Please note, they are usually taped to other wires in a harness and have some sort of foam wrapped around them. Furthermore, there can be a plug in the end...

  • How To Install Tekonsha Trailer Brake Controller On 2013 Ford Explorer
  • In order to install a Tekonsha trailer brake controller on a 2013 Ford Explorer with factory 7-way you'll simply need the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers part # 3035-P. The factory plug is located underneath and left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal. If you want to make things easier you can remove a panel to give you more room which is covered in the video attached.

  • Brake Controller Connection Port Location Under Dash of 2014 Ford Explorer
  • You can install a Tekonsha trailer brake controller like the Prodigy P3 # 90195 or the Draw-Tite Activator IV # 5504 in your 2014 Ford Explorer with factory 7-way by using wiring adapter part # 3035-P. This connects either controller to the port under your dash which has a gray plug. You can refer to the linked installation video at the 9:45 mark (showing a 2013 Explorer) to see where this connector is tucked away up behind the dash trim panel.

  • How to Add Wiring Kit to 2016-2017 Ford Explorer Configured for Firefighter Use
  • According to my research all 2016 and 2017 Ford Explorers have provisions for the tow package so there should be a connector for the T-One # 118540. With that being said, if these vehicles were designed for fire department use then there could be modifications that were done which took that connector away because from your picture your connector clearly doesn't match up with the T-One as you stated. If you can't find any other connectors then your best bet is to hardwire your trailer wiring....

  • Tips and Tricks for Installing Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs In 2013 Ford Explorer
  • When installing the Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs # AL60821 you were looking at in your 2013 Ford Explorer you will need to unbolt the shock and the sway bar link to allow the spring to decompress enough to get the air helper spring in. In addition to this you will also need to remove the cap from the fill valve on air helper spring and roll it up to remove all of the air, then reinstall the cap to keep it from filling back up. This will make it small enough to fit in between the coils. I...

  • Do Both Power Wires of Atwood Carbon Monoxide Detector Have to Be Ran
  • The second power wire for the # RS94FR does not have to be completed for it to function but it really is a good idea to run it to a secondary battery so that in the event of a primary battery failure the secondary battery will allow it to function and potentially prevent you from not realizing you are in danger.

  • Will 2014 Ford Explorer Without Tow Package Have Socket To Install 7-way Trailer Connector
  • Even though it doesn't have the tow package, the 2014 Ford Explorer will still have the rectangular connector located under the vehicle behind the passenger side rear wheel as shown in the linked install video for the Curt # C56278. On some vehicles, there are two identical connectors. If this is the case, use the black, not the gray connector. You'll also need the # PK12711U bracket as well as the # 18136 if the hitch you use doesn't have the mounting stand-off. Speaking of hitch, I'd...

  • Connector Location for the Curt T-Connector # C56278 on a 2014 Ford Explorer
  • You are correct that the plug in your picture is not the right one. The one that you want to use will have a connection looking like the female side of the Curt T-Connector # C56278 that you referenced. We installed a similar harness, the Tekonsha T-One # 118540, on a 2014 Ford Explorer and found that there are 2 connectors on the passenger side at the rear but you only use one. If you check out the linked installation video you can see the location that I am talking about.

  • Where Does the P3 Brake Controller Plug Into on a 2016 Ford Explorer with Tow Package
  • The factory plug location to plug in a brake controller on a 2016 Ford Explorer is up above and behind the brake pedal. You will likely have to remove a panel to access it. The P3 # 90195 is an excellent choice. The wiring harness you will need to plug it into the vehicle is # 3035-P. We do not have a video showing this particular installation on a 2016 Explorer but the question has come up enough (because the instructions for 3035-P say the factory connector is behind the glove compartment)...

  • Brakes, Hubs, and 7-Way Plug for Viking Popup Camper
  • We can most likely help with what you need but we need more info from you to pick out what you need. For hub/drum replacements I need to get the bearing numbers from your old hubs or the dimensions of the spindle on your trailer axle. From there we will be able to determine which brake assemblies you'd need. Then for wheel and tires I need the bolt pattern of your wheels and the tire size that's on the sidewall as well. Do you have a 4-way or a 7-way connector?

  • Installation of a Trailer Wiring Harness on a 1997 Ford Explorer Without Factory Tow Package
  • First, you need to find out If your Ford Explorer is equipped with a tow-package port (90 percent are). If so use, item # 118241, which is much simpler to hook up. The plug is usually located in the rear of the vehicle on the driver side. However, the plug can also be found on the passenger side and sometimes even on both sides. The small grey plug is usually covered with a red nipple, but the colors and styles of caps do vary. If your Explorer is not equipped with the factory tow package...

  • 7-Way Trailer Connector and Brake Controller for 2017 Ford Explorer
  • According to the folks at Tekonsha, you'll want to use the # 118272 7-way connector that you'd looked at. The harness is compatible with all models of the 2017 Ford Explorer, but you might need to install some fuses in the fuse box under the hood and in the passenger compartment if they're missing in order to fully activate the tow package. For the 12-v power feed to the trailer connector, you'll need to install a 30A fuse in location 27 and a relay in location 37, if there isn't one there...

  • How Does Blue Ox Patriot Braking System Work On 2016 Ford Explorer with Ignition Turned Off
  • According to the owner's manual for your 2016 Ford Explorer, the vehicle will need to be turned off by turning the ignition key past the accessory position. The key position will be between the accessory and off positions. I highly recommend checking your copy of the owner's manual for any other restrictions or guidelines, as these can vary between specific vehicle models. For your Blue Ox Patriot Braking System like # BLU37TR to receive power, you will just need to add the 12 Volt Outlet...

  • Does the Engine Need to Be On So Brakes Work Properly While Flat Towing 2010 Ford Explorer
  • No, the vehicle motor will not need to be running while towing the vehicle in order for the brakes to work. When checking the owners manual for an Explorer, I found that if your 2010 Ford Explorer is a 4WD vehicle, Ford recommends that an accessory neutral tow kit be installed on the vehicle in order to flat tow. If a neutral tow kit is not installed, Ford has determined the vehicle should not be towed with all four wheels on the ground. This accessory kit is available through your local...

  • Where Is Brake Controller Install Harness on 2012 Ford Explorer
  • For your 2012 Ford Explorer with the factory 7-way the harness you need to install a brake controller is the part # 3035-P. We had a customer come back with a 2012 Ford Explorer and tell us he found the harness under the dash right next to the hood release level. Two screws and an odd plastic push on is all that hold the black plastic cover to gain access to the Explorers cables.

  • Location of Brake Controller Connection Port on 2004 Ford Explorer with Tow Package
  • Your 2004 Ford Explorer with factory tow package and 7-way socket will have a quick-connect port for a brake controller behind the glove box, as you noted. It is quite possible the wiring and connector could be taped to another harness and/or tucked out of plain sight. It may take some doing to find it, but that is where it should be. We unfortunately don't have a video of the Primus IQ # TK90160 being installed on a 2004 Explorer with the wiring adapter # 3035-P otherwise I'd be able...

  • Since your 2004 Explorer was not equipped with a factory 7-way, the brake controller will need to be hardwired. To wire your controller, you will need: 25 feet of # 10-2-1 duplex cable Either a 20- or 30-amp inline breaker (# 9506-P for 2-4 brake assemblies or 38630 for 6 brake assemblies) 40-amp breaker, # 9510 for 12-volt accessory circuit (if needed). • Where is Brake Controller Install Port Located on a 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum
  • On a 2016 Ford Explorer the brake controller port is located by the steering column near the steering wheel. Brake controller wiring harness # 3035-P is indeed the correct part for your 2016 Ford Explorer with the factory 7-Way trailer connector and a Tekonsha brake controller such as the P3 # 90195. The port should be located above your left knee (as you're seated in the driver's seat). It may be necessary, according to my technical contact at Tekonsha, to remove a black plastic appearance...
