Reduced axle sag with Timbren suspension enhancement

Just like the rear of your vehicle will sag under the weight of a fully loaded bed, the front of your vehicle will sag when under the burden of heavy equipment such as a snowplow. In this case, the front axle is handling not only the weight of the equipment, but also more of the vehicle's weight. Overall vehicle handling - traction, steering, and braking - is negatively affected. But the resistance from Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System works with your factory suspension to keep your vehicle level and improve your driving experience.

Install diagrams of Timbren hollow rubber springs

The Timbren system comes with custom-fit brackets that are bolted onto each frame rail above your front axle. Hollow rubber springs are bolted to the bottom of the bracket and hang down so that the bottom of each spring touches the axle. Because each spring is making constant contact with the axle, it is always working to cushion and support your factory suspension.

Animation of a standard Timbren rubber spring

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems are designed to work progressively. When the hollow rubber springs are compressed, the convoluted design causes them to quickly collapse along the folds. Once the folds are compacted, the stacked barrel shape increases resistance, stiffening the suspension and keeping your vehicle level.

Timbren suspension system works to prevent body roll

Each hollow rubber spring works independently to support the driver's-side or passenger's-side of your vehicle. This is helpful when you swerve or make sharp turns. Each spring is activated when it is needed, so body roll is greatly reduced. The independent action also works well when you're carrying off-center loads.

A snowplow mounted to the front of the truck will require extra suspension support for the front axle.

Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System will help raise the front end of your vehicle when you're using heavy equipment like a snowplow. This ensures that your headlight beams will be pointed in the right direction and tire wear will be reduced. If the plow is off-center or has an extension, the springs will automatically compensate for this as well.

An empty truck on a bumpy road without Timbren

Another great feature of the rubber construction is that the springs absorb most of the road shock, creating a smoother, more stable ride overall. Wear and tear on the factory suspension is also lessened because the rubber springs work to prevent bottoming out on rough roads.

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Compared to the Competition

Timbren's Suspension Enhancement Systems are much easier to install than air springs - there are no air hoses to run, no compressors or gauges to hook up, and no manual adjustments to make. The rubber construction makes Timbren's springs more elastic than similar products constructed of microcellular urethane. More elasticity allows for a more comfortable ride because the rubber has more travel.

2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500

Immediately helped with ride quality and front-end porpoising under load. Better steering quality also.

2019 Ram 3500

What an addition to my 3500 chev. Front end is way more stable in turns and corners towing a 16000lb fifth wheel. Wish I had discovered these before I spent the money on air bags on the rear as I would have bought the rears as well instead of bags.

They work very well. I have a heavy snow plow and they add a lot more stability to the front axle.

I plow snow alot with my truck and the timbren are holding up very well

by:

Excellent product I have it on the rear already put them on the front made the truck very stable and secure would highly recommend putting them on any vehicle you’re towing they seem more stable than airbags and it’s nice not having to air them up.

2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Great product!! Great price!! Great customer service!! Fast shipping!!

These front suspension enhancements are always in contact with the control arms and thus make the truck ride terrible. They do stop the front from dipping when I lift the plow however. The ride beats me up and I bet it beats up the truck too. I am going to take them off next chance I get, before my dashboard falls out.

I am sorry to hear that these suspension enhancements are riding too hard for you. We suggest changing from the Timbrens to an Air Helper Spring Suspension, like part # AL57538. You will also need a compressor system, like part # AL25856 in order to switch over to the air bag system. You can contact our customer service department and they can assist you in getting this ordered.

These are a must have for any plow truck. I run these on the front and back and it’s completely changed how my truck handles with a load. I recommend them to anybody that uses their truck for hauling heavy loads or plowing. I found the easiest way to remove the old bump stops is to drive a long screwdriver straight through them and then you have the leverage to twist and turn to pop them out.

by:

I first put the Timbrens on the rear to help stop bouncing and porpoising on highways and bridge ends when towing. The rears have a gap and do not touch the springs until the truck is loaded, working great and keeping a smooth unloaded ride. The front Timbrens fit snugly and touch all the time. The ride is firm and a bit harsh with my unloaded truck having a snow plow spring option. When my trailer 30 ft trailer is hooked up, the front of the truck is slightly lighter. Towing with the Timbrens is nice and the bounce and rebound porpoising is very controlled. I would like the front Timbrens to be a little softer when the truck is unloaded, but I think these units are a nice add-on for better control, safety, and preventing damages. I had the fronts installed at the shop when rotating tires and a front end alignment. The rears installed easily.

They have worked out great when towing my 30 ft trailer. We took a coast-to-coast trip across the northern USA and into Canadian Rockies and excessive bouncing was controlled. I still would like the front to be a bit shorter and not always touching, so the unloaded ride would be less harsh.

2021 GMC Sierra 2500

Excellent product put Timbrens on all my trucks. I got them for front and the last year did the back. I own a landscape business and they are a must have for hauling and for snow plowing.

We just purchased a new 5th wheel camper so I decided to change out the bump stops on my 2014 GMC 2500 HD 4X4. I purchased the proper Timbren system for both the front and rear of my truck.

They arrived in less than 10 days and I immediately set out to install them.

I was eight weeks out from a neck fusion so I knew I needed to be careful. I used a floor jack, long flat bladed screwdriver, hammer, a short 2x4, small wood shims and liquid soap.

The floor jack gave me the distance between the frame and axle after popping out the factory bump stops with the screwdriver and hammer. I soaped up the top of the Timbrens and positioned them, placed the 2x4 or shims to level the bottom of the Timbrens in place and lowered the floor jack. Just as advertised, they seated right into place.

The install was NOT a pain in my neck as I had anticipated.

The ride when loaded with the camper or farming material is cushioned and more level. Great product!!

2011 Ford F-350 Super Duty

I have used Timbren products on multiple vehicles over time. They work great! The last 2 applications were on a 2011 Ford F-350 and now a 2015 GMC Sierra 3500. I have a snow plow installed and these help to keep the front end from sagging. I have also noticed that they help keep the truck from swaying in a turn, kind of like installing a heavier sway bar on the front end. This is noticeable even without carrying additional loads. Ride quality remains unaffected too. It took me about an hour to install, although it took a good deal of effort to get them seated.

2016 Chevrolet Silverado

I run these on my 2016 Silverado 2500. I have a Western MVP3 plow that is pretty heavy. Before I put these on I would drop over 3” when I raised the plow. Now it drops around 1”. It handles the load better. Like anything, there is a sacrifice. When not loaded, it does ride rougher than before. It’s not horse and buggy rough by any means. It’s just noticeably not as smooth. I am happy with these and if I got a different plow truck tomorrow, I’d put these on it.

by:
2015 Ram 3500

Arrived fast and installed in about an hour.

Removed the old bump stops with couple screwdrivers.

For the new install, don't waste your time with soapy water (I tried it)...just use liquid soap without the water...worked way better. Coat the entire top and 1/4 inch down the side to the first indent.

Once you get it in partially, lower the truck to help seat it the rest of the way.

I used a flat 15 inch pry bar to help push it in initially.

Installed on a 2021 Chevy 3500 4x4 dually.

I ordered these for my 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD diesel to help support the front end while plowing, and boy do they work. Front end sag was greatly reduced without adversely affecting ride quality too much. The ride is a bit stiffer, and the truck does sit about ¾" higher, but nothing objectionable. Overall, a great addition to my truck.

2015 Chevrolet Silverado

I put these on the front of our Chevy Silverado 2500HD to help support the snow plow.

This product was great for my snow plow. I’m very happy
