2011 Honda Civic - Hollywood Racks Express 3 Bike Carrier - Fixed Arms - Trunk Mount

  • 3 Bikes
  • Non-Adjustable
  • Hollywood Racks
  • Hanging Rack
  • 6 Straps
  • Frame Mount - Standard
  • Does Not Fit Spoilers

The easy to use Express lets you carry up to 3 bikes on the trunk of your Honda Civic. Sturdy steel rack features dual arms, rubber cradles and easy-to-operate adjustment hubs. Six straps anchor it securely to your car.

Features:

  • Trunk-mounted rack carries up to 3 bikes on the back of your vehicle
  • Sturdy cradles with soft rubber straps secure bikes to rack
    • Rotate to better fit bikes of varying sizes
    • Slide along arms, allowing you to adjust bike spacing
    • Won't scratch or scuff your bike's finish
  • Dual arms provide excellent bike support
  • Interlocking adjustment hubs with hand knobs ensure a proper fit to the contour of your trunk
  • 6 Adjustable cam buckle straps with hooks anchor the rack to your trunk
  • 4 Foam pads on rack base help protect your car's finish
  • Rust-resistant, sturdy steel construction with black powder coat finish
  • Folding design for flat storage

Specs:

  • Carrying capacity: 3 bicycles
  • Weight capacity: 35 lbs per bike
  • Distance between bikes: 6"
  • Distance between arms (outside to outside at cradles): 16"
  • Carrier weight: 13 lbs
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

Express Bike Rack on Trunk

The Express rack puts the fun in functional by letting you carry up to three bikes on the trunk of your vehicle. So you won't need a hitch or have to lift bikes over your head to load them on a roof rack.

Adjustment Hubs and 6-Strap Attachment System

Express Hubs

Two interlocking hubs with hand knobs ensure a proper fit on your vehicle. Just twist the hand knobs to open the hubs, and unfold the base of the rack. Then place the rack on your trunk and adjust the base's support arms to the desired angle. To secure the base in that position, line up the teeth on each hub and tighten the knobs back down.

Express Straps

Six adjustable straps with rubber-coated metal hooks and cam buckles secure the Express to your vehicle. And four foam pads on the rack's base help protect your car's finish from scratches and abrasions.

Dual Arms with Cradles

Express Arms and Cradles

Dual arms support your bikes and better accommodate women's, children's and alternative frames. Rubber cradles with straps firmly grip your bike's frame. The cradles rotate and slide along the arms, so you can easily adjust them based on the type and number of bikes you're transporting. And you can use the integrated safety strap to help keep your bikes tied down.

Folding Design

Express Folded Up

When it's not in use, the Express can easily be folded flat for storage.

A security strap and a cable lock (sold separately) are recommended to deter theft of the rack and your bikes.

2016 Subaru Forester

Installation was straightforward. The rack sits high up on my 2016 Subaru Forester so lifting bikes onto the rack requires effort. Getting 3 mountain bikes on the rack was a bit tricky. When loaded rack was secure and stable.

It is very common that its pretty difficult to mount three bikes to these hanging racks. I have done it before and there is definitely some maneuvering that needs to take place. More often than not, an adapter bar, like part # HRBA-PRO, for the womens and childrens bikes can help eliminate some of the difficulty. Besides that, only way to make it simpler, would be to get a hitch mount, platform rack like part # RKY10223. These eliminate the maneuvering and trickiness that comes with the tight spacing on a hanging rack.

2014 Toyota Corolla

Seems like a sturdy, reliable product so far. Components are solid and well put together. Fits great and carries well on my 2014 Corolla. Excellent value considering the price tag on other racks out there.

And the prompt delivery was great!

This bike rack is great. Very easy to put on the car and holds the bikes just fine. Quick and easy. Love it!

by:
2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse

You answered my question correctly, in that the straps were long enough to reach. However, it's a good thing I got the three-bike rack since due to the shape of my car I can only use the cradles furthest from the car. It works, though. Had a successful test over the weekend.
I would rate your customer service, "Excellent". Thanks!

I was wondering if the trunk is still usable while the rack is in place? Especially if there are bikes on it. Would I be able to hold the bikes up or have someone else to pop the trunk and access the inside? My mom said doing this would relieve the tension holding the rack on, but it looks like the straps only hook to the trunk lid itself and not any other part of the car so it seems possible. I was just wondering if I could still open the trunk with 1 or 2 bikes on the rack if I needed access to something in the trunk during a trip. Thanks!

Patrick B.

5/15/2013

We do not recommend opening the trunk with the bikes still mounted. The trunk lid simply was not designed for it. If the bottom support rests on the bumper, then the bike rack would shift when you open the trunk. If the rack only touches the trunk lid, then you still end up putting more load on the trunk struts and hinges, plus the trunk gets some of its strength from how it fits to the rest of the car. If you need to access the trunk, it is best to remove the bikes.

Can this be used on a Honda CRV 2013 with the hatchback because the picture you provide only shows this being used on a Honda Accord or other small car with a trunk Not a CRV ???

Patrick B.

8/5/2013

I double checked the Hollywood Racks fit guide and they confirm that it will fit a 2013 CRV.

Will this carrier work for a girls bike? Also, is it as sturdy and easy to use as the Thule Passage 2?

Patrick B.

9/13/2013

It will work with a girls bike, but will probably require the use of an adapter bar. Check out part HRBA-PRO. The Passage will be somewhat easier to setup on your car. Thule has numbered fitting system for the Passage. You look up your car in the instructions, find the dial number, and set the Fit Dial on the rack to that number. No more guessing as to how and where the base should sit.

This bike rack held my bike on a 3 day long move from PA to Texas. I never once worried about my bike falling off the back or running into any issues with it. It's sturdy and is easy to put on the trunk of your car. I would tie my bike down with the extra space on the straps just for my own piece of mind and to make sure they didn't trail behind the car while I drove on the highways. I highly recommend this bike rack. You don't need to spend $120+ on a bike rack to have a good one.

by:

I cannot tell you how pleased I am with this bike rack! Because I have a mountain bike and my husband’s is a hybrid, I don’t think we could fit a third adult bike on here, simply because of how are bikes are shaped. However, it perfectly suits our needs and gives great peace of mind. We have used this traveling on highways for 7+ hour trips and have never had any issue or concern. It fits on my Toyota Camry perfectly and because of the cushions and shape, it could literally never damage my car. Spectacular product and customer service. If I ever need another, or one for another car, I will certainly use etrailer!

2010 Volkswagen Golf

Bought this rack for my 2006 VW Golf.

I
couldn't be more pleased with this product and this service.

The rack was very affordable even with shipping costs compared to racks that require a hitch.

The rack came assembled in the box and the instructions were so easy that I had it on my car in 10 minutes after unboxing.

I have used it three times now. It is incredibly easy to put on. It is very secure (i'm using 2 bikes on my rack), and it is very easy to store.

I also received a courtesy follow up email with more info on how to use the rack a day after it arrived.

5/5 would buy this rack from etrailer again.

Hyundai Elantra

Works well on my Hyundai Elantra. Easy to setup and remove, low profile when not in use. Holds our 3 bikes well, one bike being a child's bike. 3 adult bikes could take a little work getting them to fit, but looks like it can be done. Overall, very satisfied with the product given the limit of options for a trunk mount 3 bike rack out there. Highly recommend.

by:

I bought this to haul three adult bikes on vacation. I didn't want to spend several hundred dollars on a rack that would only see occasional use. I was a bit concerned about what quality I was going to get for $70. I opened the box and was happy to see this rack was as good as it was. In ten minutes I had the rack installed and the bikes loaded. Every stop along the way I checked the straps and not once were they loose. I'm very pleased with this rack and would highly recommended it.

by:
1998 Toyota Camry

The product shipped quickly and installed easily on my car, A 98 Toyota Camry. While it is intended to be a three bike carrier, it will only hold two as the first set of bike mounts does not extend past the trunk deck. They could be adjusted outward, but then the spacing would be too close together. I am not particularly bothered as I only need to carry two bikes anyway. I think the three bike rack is still a better purchase because it comes with the extra set of side straps for stabilization.

by:
Chevrolet HHR

We have kept the bike rack on the car all this year. It worked well for us. It fit the odd shape of our Chevy HHR. We had no problems with the rack. It was a little difficult to get the hard rubber latches together, but it became easier as time went on. We carried an adult bike and a child's bike.

by:

This bike rack is INCREDIBLE!!! Absolutely GREAT quality! EASY to install/remove!!
Amanda L. was AWESOME in her customer service representative capacity!!
I also purchased a roof rack system to transport my new kayaks. I AM looking forward to installing this unit, with anticipation of TOTAL SATISFACTION, which I've found with the HRE3!!!!

2012 Ford Focus

This racks my 2012 Ford Focus SE perfectly. Was able to fit two beach cruisers and a mountain bike with minimal effort. Ordering process could not have been more smother and they even upgraded my shipping method for free....nice! Unfortunately, we already took the bike rack down before I wrote this review so I could not take any pictures.

by:

This rack was easy to install on my 2003 mini. The first test of carrying a bike kept it firmly attached. The straps stayed tight. I can recommend this rack to mini owners.

by:

We have had this product a year now and have used it about 10 times. I am not a handy person, so the first time took me some time to understand how to put it on, but I checked the videos on youtube and that helped a lot. Now, it's easy and I am super happy with the quality. The only real challenge is getting the kid's bike on b/c of the smaller size, so I have to refigure that out each time. Once he grows some more, it'll be easier.

by:
2014 Toyota Corolla

I just installed the rack on my car and it fit well. I was able to secure the bike onto the rack without any problem. I drove my car onto the freeway for a test run and no problem.

by:
2017 Honda Civic

This carrier is easy to install and feels sturdy once strapped down. It can also be folded to take up less space when no bikes are on it.

by:

After reading enough reviews and seeing their tutorial videos I'm quite happy with my purchase. I was able to fit 2 kid bikes and 1 adult bike without issue.
With the proper precautions everything is nice and safe from scratching. So far I've taken it out for 2 spins, but I have no concerns. You can feel it's solid.
For my needs this has been a happy investment. Called customer service do get some details - no issues (other then a 30 minute wait time, but I feel that's the new standard...)

Would recommend to friends and family.
Thanks for the great service.

by:

Have had this for a year now and I love it. Easy to take off Amd put back on. Handles 3 bikes no problem. Sturdy and very dependable! Would recommend to anyone

2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser

I own a PT Cruiser and the site said this rack was compatible with my vehicle, but unfortunately the back strap that goes vertically is not long enough to clip in. All of the horizontal straps fit nicely though.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Bike Carrying Options for 2011 Toyota Camry
I'd recommend going with a hitch and a hitch mounted bike rack for a few reasons. First, the hitch would provide a convenient attachment point for other hitch mounted accessories like a cargo carrier such as part # C18110. Once the hitch is in place, the bike rack can be installed in seconds, but with most trunk mount racks, there's a series of straps and buckles that need to be adjusted every time the rack is installed or removed. A trunk mount rack would be in direct contact with the...

Since you have a spoiler, this will not work for you. We don't have a 3-bike trunk rack for your Cougar. Due to the softer bumper on your 1994 Honda Del Sol I would recommend only carrying 2 bikes as a max. For that I would recommend the Thule OutWay Trunk Rack part # TH45JV as it would fit the best. What makes this rack far superior to the others is the attachment system.
