Hi, I'm Shane with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at showing you how to install the Putco Punch Bumper Grille Insert on our 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. On our newer trucks, this hole right here is actually open. So this insert, you can see it fills it in very nicely. It's going to help give our truck an added look to it. Nice style.
It's going to be stainless steel construction, so we're not going to have to worry about rust or corrosion. It's going to have a nice black powder coat finish. Installation is going to be very simple. It's held in place with four bolts. You're going to have two on the bottom and then two up in each corner.
The hardest part about it is you're going to have to take out your grille to get it inserted behind the bumper, because it will not fit in front.A couple of things that I really like about this insert. One, it kind of hides our radiator. Two, it fills that hole in, so if we have any flying debris or anything, it's going to help protect our radiator so we're not going to have to worry about the radiator getting damaged, and it's going to finish off the look of our front bumper. We're not going to have that big hole there anymore. Now that we've gone over some of the features, let me go ahead and walk you through how to get it installed.Now, to start our installation, this is not going to fit down in here.
So what we have to do is we're going to have to go up top inside of our engine compartment to remove our grill. We got to slide it in from the back. We need to remove push pin fasteners holding this panel on. Your fasteners are going to look like this and to get them out, you're simply going to pull up the center in the base. Now we'll remove our plastic cover and set it aside.
We'll take a 10mm socket. We're going to have one, two, three, four bolts to remove.And when pulling your grille off, there are metal clips that hold it into place. Your grille is plastic so don't just pull it off. I would suggest reaching down inside and popping each clip off as you go so you don't damage the grille. Then take a 10mm wrench. Around the backside here, you're going to have one bolt here and one bolt on this side. Those need to be removed. You're going to come up to this edge and notice this hole right here. If you don't have factory hardware, your kit's going to come with a clip to put in there so you can put in new hardware.We're going to take our clip. You want to make sure that this long end is facing out towards the front of the vehicle. We're going to slide it over and line it up with that hole. We're going to do that same thing on the other side. We'll slide our insert back behind our bumper into place. We're going to line it up. We're going to take hex bolt lock washer, and we're going to put it into the top holes and then thread them into the clips we just installed. We're going to do that on both sides. Take a 1716 socket, and we're going to snug our top bolts up. Now we can reinstall our lower ones.Once you get your insert tightened down, you can go ahead and reinstall your grille and reinstall your plastic panel under your hood. Now that we have the front of our truck put back together, we're ready to go. Again, I'm Shane with etrailer.com. Arrived quickly and took about 20 minutes to install. Fits like it’s OEM. Every hole matched up to the mounting point on the truck. Looks much better than the gap tooth smile that was there.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado 3500
Product arrived well packaged. Watched the installation video. Installation went as demonstrated. One exception, I had to crawl under the 2019 truck to reinstall the bottom two bolts. I think it looks good and should help with blocking some of the road debris from hitting the transmission cooler. Still need to tow with the grille installed to see if there's any significant changes in transmission temperature. I like the looks.

Installation was not hard, nor complex. A little fiddly lining up the two bottom bolts. Patience! Looks good and will add some protection for the trans cooler.

Product arrived slightly damaged. Holes in grill are somewhat larger than I expected but it should provide some protection for the exposed cooler.

Fits perfect and looks great. Installation however took about 45 minutes. Did not remove the front grill. I was able to get hand barely through to tighten top bolts and long extension and swivel socket for the lower 2 from bottom.

The grille fit in exactly like it should. I drive a lot of highway miles and I’m happy to have the radiator protected and not exposed. It was more difficult than I anticipated but the instructions from Etrailer were great!

Works good at protecting lower radiator fins . I wish they maid them to match the different factory grills and for the two bottom air holes in the bumper.The fit is good and easy to install.

No directions with package, but figured it out. Installation process described on here isn't close to the way to install product. Box was taped up, but everything was in the box. Grille itself is nice, but isn't shaped to match original, it says that it will form, how I have no clue.
