Rugged, Matte Black Finish

The sturdy steel construction is protected with a matte black finish for added durability. This unique powder coating gives etrailer hitches a carbide-like appearance and a rugged look that sets them apart from traditional glossy hitches. In addition to being rust and corrosion resistant, the tough matte coating hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than a glossy finish.

I am very pleased with my purchase. The etrailer hitch is a perfect fit for my 2015 Toyota Highlander. This company went above and beyond to assist me with finding a location to install it.

Ive had my hitch for an year and I have not had any problems. It is very well made the color hasnt faded and theirs no rust. I will be purchasing another one for my next vehicle.

Arrived quickly and undamaged. A really solid purchase. Installed (professionally) easily on my vehicle and has a nice look. Blends into the vehicle and looks like it could have been an original install at the time of manufacture. Matte finish is a really good look. Used for 4-bike bike rack and has been a great performer. Secure and easily holds the load. Very happy with this purchase and glad we went with this brand and style. Would definitely purchase again and will certainly look at this hitch should we need to install on a different vehicle in the future.

A year later I am still very satisfied with this purchase. Continues to be a solid product and have had absolutely no issues with this purchase or install. Definitely a good purchase and would highly recommend to others who are in need of a hitch that will allow you to transport multiple bikes long distances. Still looks new after a year installed on my vehicle.

Dear Etrailer.com
Taking a moment to
write a review of my experience with your company. It is shocking to actually have a totally positive experience dealing with a company! Your customer service is exemplary , starting with George J that took my initial call, to Jaime B that took my order , to Quinn that gave me some crucial insights into how to overcome an obstacle installing my hitch receiver. Customer service is a lost art , if other companies and particularly monopoly mega corporations would adopt even a portion of your business ethos and acumen , everyone’s life would be a lot less frustrating! Can’t thank you enough!

The hitch receiver fits perfectly and looks good. The instructional video was very clear and helpful. Instructions said that installation difficulty rating is "moderate", the only extra effort I experienced was pulling 86 foot pounds while lying on my back at 83 years of age (I should have used an extension on my torque wrench). In my opinion the installation was easy.
On another subject, you recommended several nearby shops that could install the hitch receiver. One of those shops was Brown's RV center in McBee, SC.
I have had some experience with Brown's. My experience and opinion is that they provide the worst service I have ever come across. I would certainly never recommend that shop.

Straight forward installation. I used two jack stands spaced equally apart from the square receiver tube. This allowed me to easily support the hitch and rotate the flat portion up to sub frame and get the first bolt started. The bolts could use being 1/2" longer. I used the OEM bolts when I reinstalled the tow hook on top of the hitch.

by:

Couldn't be happier with my purchase. I had it installed at U-haul and have been towing a Kuat 3 bike rack assembly. Was initially wary that the receiver would throw off the weight balance on my car, especially when driving through snowy conditions and on snow (I live in the Pacific North West and drive through a mountain pass to get to my local ski resort every weekend), but that hasn't been an issue so far.

I just got receiver hitch installed on wife's 2019 Highlander. Went pretty good. I opted not to drop spare tire to install it. The installation video on the website was great help also. I did it on floor with assistance from a jack and my wife. On a scale of 1 to 10 on difficultly i would say maybe a 3. I have not used it yet but seems to be make very sturdy. I do like the way it kind of hides and dont stick out.

Been very pleased with the Trailer Hitch Receiver. I only use it when we go to the beach for a cargo carrier, Thats why i wanted one that fit tight up against the car. Blends in and looks factory.

Watch out if your car is not made in the US

The Hitch works perfect, it works how it should. The heads up here should be before buying it... I'm from Mexico so I bought it to a suite I have in the US... I brought it over to Mexico, followed the tutorials to install it, cutted what was needed to cut and assembled it to find out that the spare tire was not able to be placed in its place... searching for an answer I found that the spare tire for Highlanders in Mexico is a regular size tire, but in the US it is a thinner spare tire. Once you put the make and model in the site, it gives you the compatible hitch, not imagining that a Mexican would buy it.
At the end I had to buy a thinner spare tire to make everything work... extra expense!

The trailer hitch was easy to install on my 2017 Highlander with accurate instructions. It required a slight modification to the plastic undercarriage cover which was easily completed. I’ve used it a few times and it has worked well.

Very simple to install. I did in my driveway without dropping spare. Had a little help holding up side while installing bolts on other rail. Only tough bolt to put in was one right above muffler. Very happy with the way it fits and looks. Highly recommend

A year in use and no complaints or worries. Functioning very well. Very good product

Hitch fit perfect. Took about 20 minutes to bolt hitch to frame. About 45 minutes to remove and trim plastic cover. If you’re working alone recommend using floor jack to hold in place while installing bolts

Trailer hitch is good quality and the install video was helpful. I installed this on my 2016 highlander with no lift, there is plenty of room to do the work.

by:

Product is very well made. It fit exactly as describe.
I really liked the the extremely helpful installation video.
It saved me for having to look up YouTube videos.
We are primarily using it for a bike holder but plan to get a small trailer as well since we lost our truck to old age.

Its been over a year since I installed this hitch receiver onto our 2015 Toyota Highlander. We drove across the country, from Florida to California and were very pleased with the towing capacity of our hitch. The only thing I would change is the square bar that you attach the chain to. A round bar would work better for us. Otherwise, its perfect.

Instructions were easy to follow.(watched online video) I backed my 2016 Highlander XLE up on ramps for easy access to install. I used a BOSCH oscillating multi-tool to cut the plastic undercarriage guards - worked great and fit perfectly around the new hitch once it was reinstalled.

BOSCH 18V impact driver with a 9” or 12” 3/8 wobble extension made quick work of the bolts around the exhaust. Very easy 45 min start to finish job if you have a few tools.

by:

Trailer hitch was a perfect fit for my vehicle and the instructions on installation were concise and easy to follow. Very happy with the product.

I have used this trailer hitch for a year now. Great product and company. I took it to a friend to install. Afterward he chuckled saying that it took him about 10 minutes and that I could have easily done it.

I used a DeWalt oscillating multi-tool to cut the plastic undercarriage guards - worked great and fit perfectly around the new hitch once it was reinstalled.

by:

The hitch is doing its job I have had no problems.i feel it was well worth the amount and I will order again thank you

by:

Fit as it said it would. Video was on the spot. For someone like me and no garage, laid on my back in driveway and successfully put it on.
Price I couldn’t find any better. Shipping to my house was awesome.
If I had to buy another for other vehicles Etrailer is my first stop!!

Great Use it for aluminum wheel chair carrier

by:

Rep was friendly and helpful in making sure I got the right hitch. Quick delivery. Hitch mounted quickly/easily. Kit contained all bolts, etc necessary for installation. Good price, too.

by:

The box was torn in transit, but the product was fine and all the parts needed for installation were still intact.

Perfect fit. Easy to install. Only challenge was finding the bolts and instructions. Lol. Didn’t know that they were hiding inside taped hitch.

  • Best 2-Inch Hitch For 2019 Toyota Highlander
Yes, you have a few options to choose from when it comes to hitches for your 2019 Toyota Highlander but it does not need to be a complicated decision. The etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98844 is my recommendation for a few reasons. The matte black finish blends in perfectly with the bumber and undercarriage of the Highlander as you can see from the included example from a customer. In addition, the finish is more scratch resistant than the glossy finishes of other hitch choices....

  • How to Determine Correct Trailer Wiring Harness for 2019 Toyota Highlander
Take a look at the rear of your 2019 Toyota Highlander in the spare tire compartment. You should be able to find a white connector like you see on the right hand side of the picture I've attached. If there is nothing plugged into that connector then you don't have the tow package. If there is something plugged into it, it should be a wiring harness with a converter (like is shown) which means you do have the tow package. If you do have the tow package I recommend the Hopkins harness,...

If your question is can you use a ball mount with 2-5/16" ball with your 2018 Toyota Highlander Hitch, yes you can. The etrailer brand Class III hitch you referenced, part # e98844 is indeed a confirmed fit for the 2018 Toyota Highlander unless the spare tire is mounted on an aluminum rim which would make the tire wide enough that it would interfere with installing the hitch.
