Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Just got it. Haven't installed. Already though it arrived with many scratches and parts of the coating chipped off. About 20 or so dime size pieces of the rust proof coating were chipped off. I'm really surprised/annoyed that the packaging is just the hitch and no supportive/protective foam or really anything else to keep it from bouncing around inside the cardboard box. I already bought some rustoleum spray paint. I'll update this once I've installed it.

When the hitches are shipped to us they are shipped stacked together in large pallets which means that at times they arrive in less than pristine condition. You have already done what I recommend by touching up the affected areas with a rust resistant paint. It is beneficial to have the paint on hand for regular hitch maintenance.

my grandson is in auto school put this on for me and was very impressed
After installation, which was not very difficult, he said it looks like it was put in by the factory or the dealer so I take his word that it’s a very good product

Put a hitch on the Subaru Outback to pull the boat and it does fine.

  • Hidden Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon
The most hidden hitch I would recommend for your 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon is the Draw Tite part # DT94YR which will only have the lower hitch opening below the rear bumper. This gives the most hidden look and also helps with ground clearance. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well. Then for trailer wiring the Tekonsha part # 118467 is easiest to install and most reliable.

  • Recommended Hidden Hitch for a 2020 Subaru Forester
Thanks for reaching out! The closest hitch design we have to something that sits in the bumper on your 2020 Subaru Forester is the Hidden Hitch by Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT24YR. The crossbeam is installed behind the bumper and then there is a removable receiver so you can retain that OEM look when you aren't towing or utilizing a bike rack. If you'll be towing with this hitch then you'll also need the T-One Wiring # 118467 and I recommend the Eclipse Magnetic Mounting Bracket...

  • Do I Need to Remove My Bumper to Install a Hitch on my 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon
We actually have a few different hitch styles that fit your 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon and they come from Draw-Tite. If you go with the hitch # DT94YR then you'll have a cleaner looking install when you're done, but you will need to remove the bumper. If you go with the hitch # DT73RR then the install won't look as clean because you'll be able to see the crosstube, however you won't need to remove your bumper for the installation in this case. I personally like the # DT94YR because it not...

  • Recommended Hitch for a 2023 Subaru Outback That Does Not Require Trimming
None of the hitches for a 2023 Subaru Outback require you to trim the bumper. To install the Draw-Tite Hitch item # DT94YR you will need to cut a small portion of the trim that is underneath your car. I have attached a screenshot below I took from the instructions that shows this step. You would need to be lying beneath your car to see the trimmed area. If you do not want to make any cuts to your trim you will want the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch item # DT73RR. This hitch hangs down below...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendations for a 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon Wilderness
The Curt # C67JR and Draw-Tite # DT73RR and # DT94YR trailer hitches do all fit your 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon Wilderness but I actually recommend going with our etrailer version part # e25TR because it has the hidden crosstube for increased ground clearance like the other options, but more importantly it has a matte black finish that is more subtle but more durable than the classic glossy black finish the other options have. For wiring we'll start with the T-One # 118467 for the basic...

  • Recommended Wiring Harness for a 2023 Subaru Outback
The best wiring harness for your 2023 Subaru Outback is going to be the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # C56040. This is a custom fit wiring harness that plugs into existing wiring behind a panel in your rear cargo area. It will provide you with a 4-way connector. I recommend using the No-Drill Mount Bracket item # 18136 to secure the 4-way connector to your hitch. This will put it in an easy to reach spot and prevent the risk of it falling onto the road. • Comparison of Available Trailer Hitches for 2022 Subaru Outback
Both hitches offer higher capacities than the maximum towing and tongue weight capacity specified in the owner's manual (3500GTW/350TW for 2.4L or 2700GTW/270TW for 2.5L equipped models) so the slight differences in capacity between the Curt # C67JR and the Draw-Tite # DT94YR are irrelevant. You're correct, both hitches would be mostly concealed once installed with the receiver tube opening and safety chain loops being the only visible portion of the hitch. Because the hitch is manufactured...

For the EcoHitch part # EH34FR we have an install video on a 2021 Outback which is very similar. We do not have an install video for the etrailer hitch # e25TR at this time (June 2022) but I would assume we will have one soon. This hitch installs very similarly to the # DT94YR though. • Is the Draw-Tite Hitch # DT94YR Made in the U.S.A.?
While we do have a great U.S.A.-made solution for your 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon, the Draw-Tite # DT94YR is manufactured overseas. With that being said, if you are looking for the next-highest weight capacity hitch we carry for your vehicle that was manufactured in the U.S.A., I recommend the EcoHitch - 2" # EH34FR. With the EcoHitch, you receive the advantage of a concealed crosstube and looks more like a factory accessory than the # DT94MR. If you wish to have a more economical U.S.A.-made...

  • What is Difference Between Draw Tite Trailer Hitches that Fit 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon
The two Draw Tite hitches that fit your 2022 Subaru Ouback Wagon part numbers # DT94YR and # DT73RR have different advantages but the best in my opinion is the part # DT94YR as it has a mostly hidden appearance due to only the hitch opening hanging below the rear bumper which also helps with ground clearance. But it's doesn't install quite as easily as the # DT73RR which also has the higher towing capacities.

We have actually installed both Draw-Tite hitches on a 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon so I've added a photo and installation video of each for you to check out! The Draw-Tite # DT94YR is what I recommend going with because it has a hidden crosstube so the finished look is really clean. • Comparing Class II and Class III Hitches for a 2021 Subaru Outback
Yes, regardless of weight capacity class III beats out class II because of the larger receiver tube opening, 2" vs. 1-1/4". The reason larger is better is because there are much more hitch mounted accessories to choose from like ball mounts or if you ever want to switch things up, bikes racks and cargo carriers. It can be a bit daunting especially if you've never done anything like this before but there aren't any other alternative installation methods. The Draw-Tite # DT94YR is specifically designed to fit the 2021 Subaru Outback Wagon. I included an install video for you to check out as well. As to the ball mount. The vast majority of U-Haul trailers will have a coupler height of 18 inches. As the # DT94YR will sit at 15 3/4 inches on a stock 2021 Outback Wagon, I suggest going with the Draw-Tite Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 2-3/4" Rise, 4" Drop - 9" Long - 7.5K - 10K # 2753. This actually includes the pin and clip, so you would only...

  • Which Draw Tite Hitch is Best for 2020 Subaru Outback Wagon
Between the Draw Tite hitches that fit your 2020 Subaru Outback Wagon the best option is for sure the # DT94YR as it has the same capacity as your vehicle but mainly because it only has the hitch opening visible below the rear bumper whereas the other option # DT73RR is going to be much more visible. The measurement from the ground to the upper inner tube of the receiver is 15-3/4 inches high.
