Hidden Cross Tube for a Clean, Factory Look

The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is designed to be as inconspicuous as possible. The hitch's cross tube bolts onto your vehicle's frame, behind your rear bumper. No drilling or welding is required. Once the hitch is installed, only the receiver will be visible beneath your bumper. This means that your vehicle can maintain its stylish, from-the-factory look, and you won't have to do any major modifications to its body or frame.

Eco-Friendly Material

With a combination of aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, each EcoHitch is made of a strong metal alloy that will withstand the test of time. The lightweight alloy is composed of recycled materials. Traditional steel hitch manufacturing can use coal or oil, which can contribute to harmful gas emissions. The EcoHitch's recycled materials limit the carbon footprint during manufacturing, so you get a sturdy trailer hitch while also helping the environment.

Rigorous Strength Testing Ensures Durability

This EcoHitch trailer hitch is tested for durability and sturdiness. Using Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), individual points of stress on the hitch can be detected and remedied. Designers can accurately test the hitch to ensure that it will meet or exceed SAE J684 standards. The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is carefully researched and strength tested for a durable, high-quality hitch that can resist damage while on the road.

I installed this on my wife's 2015 Golf TDI 4 years ago and LOVE IT! The install is a little more involved than some others, but this thing is FAR sturdier, FAR nicer looking, and fits perfectly. With it installed and no drawbar inserted, it's almost like it isn't there at all. After 4 years and 80,000 miles, this thing still looks like new after repeated use. We've used a small aluminum hitch basket and towed both a 4x6 Lowe's trailer and now an Alma 4.5x8' utility trailer frequently.

Does not fit very well. Had to make a few modifications to both my metal bumper support and also to the hitch receiver. Supporting bars on reciever were slightly bent when I received it. Luckily I have a big impact gun and torch

Installation was straightforward and instructions were clearly written. I will say that one of the bolts needed to bolt to chassis was very hard to get in and it seemed to be due to the hole being just barely too small. It was close enough that i was still able to install it. Instructions could have been more clearly printed, as the pictures were not very easy to see. The product itself has been amazing otherwise and looks super clean on my '17 GTI. Highly recommend!

I believe this is a weld nut issue. Sometimes debris and rust can fill the weld nut making it seem small. Heavy cleaning with a lubricant and wire brush will fix the problem. Sometimes tapping it out is needed. Here is a help article regarding this:

A few years ago I installed a Curt trailer hitch on my VW GTi. It was the only hitch available for my car at the time, it was easy to install, and served well. It did, however, hang a little lower than I preferred and was known to drag.
This past Winter I bought myself a Christmas present: an Eco-Hitch hidden receiver hitch and installed it in late April. (Too cold for working in the driveway up to that point.) It was a way more involved installation than the previous hitch and took me pretty much all afternoon. Fortunately there are both print and video installation guides available.
The results are worth it. The new hitch is naturally braced in multiple planes and pretty much does not sway. It sits a few inches higher, so the dragging problem is gone. If I were starting from scratch I would buy both the hitch and the bike rack in 2”. My otherwise very nice 1-1/4” Kuat rack does twist some on bumpy roads and the larger rack body should pretty much eliminate that.
You should also be aware that you will lose the foam spacer that protects your rear bumper from minor damage. Not a big deal for me but for others, who knows? FYI.
Service, as always from etrailer.com , was quick and installation support excellent. If you’re in the market check them out.

Installed the ecohitch 306-X7310 on my Son's 2016 VW Golf GTI. The installation was made easy by the detailed instructions included in the box and the link to an installation video for visual reference. I will recommend E-trailer to anyone who asks about my hitch. Thank you.

  • Is EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch A Class II Hitch for 2017 VW Golf?
I am happy to confirm for you that the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch # 306-X7310 is, in fact, a Class II hitch! That means you can carry three bikes with your Thule bike rack on your 2017 VW Golf whenever you like. I have added a link to a video of this hitch being installed on a '17 Golf for you to check out as well.

  • EcoHitch Trailer Hitch Receiver Fit For 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI
We do have an EcoHitch trailer hitch receiver that fits your 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI, though it is a different part number than the one you mentioned. For your GTI the EcoHitch that will fit is the following part: - EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7310 You mentioned E trim and I was unable to find any reference to an E trim on a '15 Golf, but there is a 4-door SE trim, which may be what you meant. And if so, I can confirm that yes, this hitch will fit the 4-door SE trim...

  • How to Carry 3 Bikes on 2015 Volkswagen e-Golf Convertible
While you can carry a trio of bikes on your 2015 Volkswagen e-Golf convertible, there is no way to use a trunk-mounted bike rack on the vehicle, so to carry three bikes you will need to add a trailer hitch receiver and 3-bike rack. For the hitch receiver, there are two options from EcoHitch, with the only difference being the receiver size; one with a 1-1/4" receiver # 306-X7310, or my recommended option, the 2" receiver EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7309. • Recommended EcoHitch Trailer Hitch for a 2017 Volkswagen Golf GTI
No, the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7332 you're looking at will not fit your Volkswagen Golf GTI. This hitch is only designed to be used with the R models, so for your GTI you'd want to use # 306-X7310 instead. The only difference between this hitch and the one you were looking at is the receiver size. This hitch has a 1 1/4" class II receiver, while the # 306-X7332 you originally looked at has a 2" receiver.

  • Hidden Trailer Hitch for a 2015 Volkswagen Golf TDI
I do have some trailer hitches that are hidden for your 2015 Volkswagen Golf TDI but # 306-X7332 will not fit. I recommend going with the EcoHitch # 306-X7310. Once this hitch is installed only the receiver will be visible. This is a 1-1/4 inch Class I trailer hitches. If you want a 2 inch hitch then I recommend # 306-X7309 instead. If you go with the 2-inch, you will have more accessories to choose from. If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier...

  • Can the EcoHitch # 306-X7310 be Used to Tow with a 2017 Volkswagen Golf GTI
The EcoHitch # 306-X7310 has a 2,000 lb trailer weight rating and a max tongue weight rating of 200 lbs. As long as your loaded trailer motorcycle doesn't exceed these limits you can use this trailer hitch for your trailer. Something else you will need to check out is the weight capacity of your 2017 Volkswagen Golf GTI itself. You should be able to find this on the door jamb of your driver's side door. You also need wiring and a ball mount with a hitch ball to complete your towing setup....

For your 2017 Volkswagen Golf GTI, we have the # 306-X7309, # C11412& the # 306-X7310 however I recommend going with the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # SH69ZR out of all the hitches offered for your vehicle. This is going to be the only hitch that has a 2" receiver, has a completely hidden design, and is made in the USA. I do have an option for you but the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" part # C11564 is not a fit for the 2017 Volkswagen GTI. If you are looking for a concealed cross tube so the only portion of the hitch that is visible once installed is the receiver tube I recommend EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7310 which is a confirmed fit for the GTI. • Trailer Hitch Ground Clearance for 2016 VW Golf GTI
Both the EcoHitch # 306-X7310 and the Curt # C11412 are great options for a trailer hitch for your 2016 Volkswagen Golf GTI. The EcoHitch features 13 inches of ground clearance measured from the bottom of the receiver to the ground. I don't have an exact measurement for the Curt hitch, but the Curt seems to sit a bit lower from the frame. For a hitch that fits your 2011 VW Golf TDI I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24825. This Class I hitch features a bolt-on installation and has a 1-1/4" receiver. • Hitch Recommendation for a 2016 Volkswagen Golf TDI
The EcoHitch Hidded Trailer Hitch part # 306-X7310 is a fit for your 2016 Volkswagen Golf TDI and would be a great choice. For a bike rack solution, I prefer a hitch rack to a roof rack as it puts the bikes in an easier to load/unload position and also gets them out of the direct wind on the roof. For a bike rack I really like the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack # HLY94FR. This is a platform bike rack that only weighs 20 lbs. The biggest drawback to platform bike racks has always...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2016 VW Golf TDI for Ease of Install
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11412 is a little easier to install than the EcoHitch # 306-X7310 on your 2016 VW Golf TDI. It is the easiest installation of the compatible hitches, and the quality is the same. To complete your towing setup, you also need the Wiring # 119250KIT, a Ball Mount # C45521, and either a 1-7/8" # 19256 or 2" # 19258 hitch ball depending on what size coupler your trailer has. Both receivers have the same 2,000lbs trailer capacity rating and have a 1-1/4" receiver tube. The EcoHitch is rated for a higher amount of tongue weight at 300lbs versus the Curt at 200lbs.
