Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

  • Comparing Curt and Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receivers For 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA
You are correct that for your 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA there are two trailer hitch receiver options, the Curt # C55WR and the Draw-Tite # DT72MR. These hitches are in all honestly pretty similar as they share the same overall design, both have a 525lb tongue weight rating and 3500lb trailer weight rating, and will have roughly the same installation difficulty. With that said I recommend the Curt # C55WR due to it being made here in the USA so you know it is a quality hitch, and in our experience...

  • Dimensions for Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT72MR For Mounting On a MB 2023 GLA 250
While Draw-Tite has not been able to test the fit of their Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT72MR on a 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 I did take some measurements which you can use to verify if the mounting points are the same. The mounting holes are spread 37-3/16" on center from left frame rail to right. The oval holes are spread 3-1/8" apart on center with the round hole closest to the front of the vehicle being 2-1/8" from the center of the oval hole. The end of the receiver tube measured...

  • Least Visible Trailer Hitch For A 2021 Mercedes GLA250
Though we have not yet done an install of either the Draw-Tite # DT72MR or the Curt # C55WR on a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA250, I did mange to find a couple pictures of each hitch installed. With that being said, you are correct in that the Draw-Tite will be slightly less visible/exposed than the Curt. I do have to say that it is pretty marginal though, and the picture I found for the Draw-Tite isn't the best, so just a heads up.
