Have you ever been towing and had to deal with that awful back-and-forth jostling for your entire trip? It's enough to make you feel sick. And that bumpy, jerky ride not only takes a toll on you as you drive, but it beats up your equipment too, leading to premature wear and tear on both your truck and trailer. This is because most ball mounts are made almost completely of metal, so there's nothing to help soften the road shock you experience while driving down the highway at high speeds.
Fortunately, the Shocker Hitch XRC helps solve that problem.
The Shocker Hitch XRC ball mount is equipped with 2 rubber bumpers located on opposite sides of the adjustable channel. When the channel body moves back and forth along with your trailer, these bumpers help to absorb the road shock and vibration. This cushion helps protect your equipment and, more importantly, keeps you and your passengers from getting jostled around the cab when you're towing over bumpy roads and rough terrain.
Unlike other shock-absorbing systems that use air bags, which require you to consistently add and remove air, the XRC is nearly maintenance-free. Just grease it up using the zerk fitting on the side of the unit, and you're ready to go.
If you tow trailers with various heights, adjusting the height of the hitch ball is an easy process. When the ball mount is in its standard drop position, simply remove the pins and clips holding the ball mount platform in place and slide the platform up or down to the desired location. You can also flip the unit over and use it in its rise position, giving you even more versatility. Once you have the correct height, reinsert the pins and secure the clips, and fold back the handles so they're out of the way. Then you're ready to go.

What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com Today we're gonna been checking out the Shocker Hitch XRC. So, it's gonna be the drop ball combination with the shock absorber up top. So what this does is it takes some of that chucking from the trailer and that movement and absorbs it here, so it doesn't transfer up to the steering wheel when you're driving. And then of course, it's got the drop ball attached right here. That way you can level out those trailers and trucks, if the trailer's too low and the truck's too high or whichever combination, it can make that work. Let's check it out.
With that drop ball attachment, you're gonna get 7 and 1/2 inches of drop. Now, if you go to pull the clips and the pins and flip it around, you're gonna see how easy this is, one, just to remove the accessory, because that's what the Shocker hitch is all about is swapping those out. So if you needed something other than that ball, you could switch it out to a pintle hook really easily and put that in there, but I'm gonna flip it around. And show you, while it's in here loose that when you put it in the rise position, our pins in place there, that you don't really get any rise whatsoever. You see, it's just pretty much even with the hitch here.
So just keep that in mind when you're wanting to use it. We have the clips off the end and the pins that go through. I like how the pins are nice and sturdy. The handle takes a little bit to move it around but the fact that it's a big handle, you can fit some fingers in there to help you pull that out. Really helps out just because these are big and when you go to put 'em in you need that grip to get it to go through.
Now we noticed on some of the other ones sometimes the powder coat can be built up on the holes here to put that pin in. Sometimes you have to work it a little bit but the more you do that, the easier it'll get. It just depends. It's been random on the different Shocker hitches we've worked with. So, just look out for that.
One thing I will say, though, is with the whole assembly, it doesn't come with a hitch pin. So you're gonna have to buy one separately. So if you have to buy one anyway, I'd recommend getting a locking hitch pin. And then the only problem with that though, is it leaves out our pins up here that hold our accessory in place. But InfiniteRule has a three lock set you can get, so you can lock the shank to the hitch and then you can lock the pins in here, so your accessories locked up. That way nobody can take it out of the hitch and nobody can take the accessory. The whole thing is gonna be made out of a grade 50, cold rolled steel with a black powder coat finish. So you don't have to worry about leaving it out in the back of your truck. If it is to get scratched up a little bit it's still resilient to rust and corrosion. Now the ball's gonna be zinc plated or zinc coated so that you don't have to worry about it as much either, but it is a ball, so when you go to put that coupler on there, it can get scratched up just a little bit. Something you can do to fight that is put some dielectric grease around there, that can help keep it looking nicer for a little bit longer. But again, when you're putting it in that metal coupler it's just gonna get scratched. On this side I just wanna point out the zerk fitting. I like that option in there. That way you can do maintenance on it. Add some grease to it to keep it working like it did the first few times you used it. So I like that that is an option you can have here and it's easily accessible. You can get a two inch ball or a 2 and 5/16ths ball with the drop ball setup. The one thing I will say is it's probably best to get the whole assembly or the whole accessory so you get the drop ball mount and just get another one and put the 2 and 5/16th on that one, because the whole purpose of the Shocker hitch is to swap accessories very easily. Just fill in those pins and get rid of the drop ball mount. You can put a pintle hook in there instead, a clevis pin. You can put in a double ball mount, that one's gonna have the two inch and 2 and 5/16ths on the same one where you can just flip it and use it as you need to. I like the accessories for this that you can do that so easily. 'Cause I don't want a bunch of assemblies in the back. A bunch of ball mounts sitting back there for different occasions. I like to have just these little accessories. Takes up far less space and it's really quick to put them into place and get going. With the truck backed up, we'll go ahead and lower the trailer down on there. We got our two inch ball on there, okay the couplers going pretty easily down. There we go. Now going to latch it in place and then we'll bring our jack up. Make sure it's outta the way. With that all done, we're gonna attach our safety chains and hit the road. Overall, I like the Shocker Hitch XRC. I like the shock absorber here that's built-in to help with that chucking of the trailer, didn't feel when it we was driving down the road. And then the fact that you can swap out any accessory you need. I like that part of it too. So, you get some different trailer, different boats up, maybe even a different truck, you can get a different accessory, get a 2 and 5/16ths ball if that's what you need or a pintle hook and switch that out and I don't have a bunch of these big assemblies in the back of the truck or in the garage. I only have the accessories which take up far less space and are easier just to throw in there and go. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and I hope this helped..

Reduce back-and-forth chucking while towing your camper or boat trailer with this maintenance-free, cushioned ball mount. Rubber bumpers absorb road shock and limit rattle for a smooth towing experience. Compatible with all Shocker Hitch accessories. After using your e-trailer bracket to eliminate the receiver from rattling, I got the rattle back from the "drop bracket". I still gave it a 4 star because the amount of rattle is reduced very considerably.
Works as expected and well built, heavy duty hitch.
