2013 Subaru Outback Wagon - Roadmaster Standard Magnetic Tow Lights

  • Bypasses Vehicle Wiring
  • Removable Tail Light Kit
  • Roadmaster
  • Magnetic Mount
  • Universal

Avoid tapping into your towed Subaru Outback Wagon's electrical system by using these self-contained tow lights. Heavy-duty magnets keep lights securely in place on your towed car.

Features:

  • Allows you to legally tow your car without having to tap into its wiring
  • Eliminates risk of electrical damage to towed car
  • Attaches securely with magnets
  • Connects directly to motor home wiring, bypassing towed vehicle completely
  • Has heavy-duty vinyl casing for superior protection of wiring
  • Meets Department of Transportation standards
  • Fits all vehicles
  • Includes 2 lights and wiring harness with 4-pole flat trailer connector
  • Length of wire:
    • Wire that connects the lights: 53-1/2"
    • Wire that extends out the back of the light: 243"
    • Wire with 4-pole connector: 35-1/2"
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty

The law requires that all towed cars have functional signal and brake lights in sync with the RV towing them. Most wiring kits require you to splice into your vehicle's electrical system, but doing this can void your manufacturer's warranty. Magnetic tow lights avoid this problem by having the wiring run underneath your car and plug into your power source.

These lights have worked flawlessly for the whole 2023 camping season on my RV towed vehicle. I mount them on the rear of the roof so they are nice and high above bicycles on a hitch mounted rack.

by:

Extremely happy with the tow bar wiring. Not one problem for the year!

by:
Jeep

They were shipped fast and arrived quickly. These are quality lights with very strong magnets. I installed them on my Jeep in no time after making some steel brackets for the tubular aluminum bumper. Would be nice to have 5 or 6 magnetic clips to place along the wire to secure it to the vehicle. I highly recommend these lights.

Timely receipt. have not installed yet. but the instructions seem simple enough.

by:
2005 Subaru Forester

I like these lights, nice strong magets hold them securely to car roof. I use them because my bikes in bags cover my tail lights. I added LED bulbs because when I tow the car with my RV these additional lights put to much load causing voltage drop and dim lights.

These lights are still working well only improvement I could suggest is if they could somehow maybe put up plastic layer between the magnets and the roof because they’re taking paint off, if they could still make the magnet is strong.

Jeep Wrangler

I purchased the Curt Tow Bar with Adjustable-Width Arms - Car Mount - 2" Ball - 5,000 lbs. initially I was Leary of the product because of its low price compared to other tow bars. I now can say my concerns were needless because after flat towing my Wrangler over 5,000 trouble-free miles I have nothing negative but only positives to report. The best thing I like about the tow At is that it only takes 5 minutes to attach and unhook.

by:

by:

Fast delivery. Did a test as soon as I received the light kit. Flawless. Magnets very strong but safe for car finish.

by:

Heavy duty magnets gave me the security of knowing they wouldn’t come off. Very easy to install!

by:

I did a mock-up set-up and this kit works as advertised.
Magnetic bases are strong, it should fit my needs perfectly.

by:

is far better than I expected....very nice. I should have gotten this sooner!!!

by:

Very simple product. Exactly what I wanted. I need to do something more permanent but this worked for our trip. The most important thing was I needed it fast and I got it in time.
Friendly and informative people on the phone were knowledgeable and new their product. I will shop here again.

  • Parts to Add Trailer Hitch, 4-Flat and Tow Bar Wiring to 2015 Jeep Wrangler
There is a way to add a trailer hitch, 4-way and tow bar wiring to your 2015 Jeep Wrangler but you will want to use something other than the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # HM56200. The reason for this is the Hopkins kit requires the same plug-in connection points as adding a 4-way so they are not going to be compatible. What I recommend instead is using the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 which will splice into your Jeep's...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2002 Toyota MR2 with a Demco Aluminator Tow Bar
First, if your 2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder is an automatic, it must be towed on a trailer only, it cannot be flat towed. If it is a manual, it can be flat towed. Check with the vehicle owners manual to confirm. The Roadmaster base plates, # 1169-1, are correct for the vehicle. You can use the adapter # RM-033 but, to make the draw-bar arms on the base plates removable, I recommend using adapter # RM-032. This adapter comes with quick disconnects so you can remove the draw-bar arms making the...

  • How to Install the Roadmaster Even Brake 2nd Vehicle Kit # RM-98400
To use the Roadmaster Even Brake Braking System, # RM-9400, in your 2011 HHR, you will simply install the braking system using the installation instructions that came with the Even Brake system. The only difference in the installation is that you will use the 2nd Vehicle Kit, # RM-98400, instead of the parts that were included with the Even Brake system. The first step to install this kit is to find a suitable location for the breakaway switch and the ICX transmitter. The breakaway switch...

The RoadMaster Tail Light Wiring Kit with Bulbs, part # RM-155, will require you to drill a 1-inch hole in the back of the taillight housing right under the red lens. It uses the standard #1157 bulb which measures 1.83 inches tall and .97 inches width of the bulb. The sockets measures .95 inches where it goes into the lens. The instructions show to drill a 1 inch hole in the taillight housing beneath a red lens to fit the socket and to make sure once the bulb is inserted in the socket...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 1999 Subaru Forester without a Brushguard
There is a steel crossmember in the base plate kit # 909-9. It is listed in the instructions I will sent to you as part A. These base plates are custom designed to fit a 1999 Subaru Forester with no brushguard. Consult your owners manual for the proper towing procedures for your Forester. In my research I found that the models with a manual transmission can be flat towed without modification to the vehicle but automatic transmission models must be towed on a trailer only. • Base Plates, Tow Bar and Flat Towing Equipment for 2015 Chevy Captiva Sport
According to Blue Ox, the # BX3332 is a fit up to the 2014 Captiva Sport. They haven't yet had the opportunity to do a test fit. However, Roadmaster states that the 2012-2015 Captiva uses the same # 3151-1A Base Plate. I'd recommend going with the Roadmaster Base Plate because it has been confirmed as a fit. If you went with the Blue Ox, and there was a problem, you might not have warranty coverage because the fit hasn't been tested yet. You'll also need a tow bar, safety cables, a wiring...

I checked with Roadmaster and the base plate kit part # 3151-1A that you referenced has been confirmed as a fit for the 2015 Chevy Captiva as long as it doesn't have a brush guard. Make sure to consult the Captiva owners manual for the proper towing procedure. In addition to the base plates, you will also need a compatible tow bar. The most popular compatible tow bar is the Falcon 2, # RM-520. I have included a link to the installation instructions and a video showing a typical installation...

In addition to the base plates you will also need a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking. For a compatible tow bar one of the most popular options is the Avail, # BX7420. This tow bar has a 10,000 pound capacity and comes with safety cables so you will not need to purchase any additional safety cables. For lighting if you will not be towing the truck very often I recommend...

  • Can a 2007 Honda Pilot Automatic with Front Wheel Drive be Towed with 4 Wheels Down Behind an RV
The owner's manual for the 2007 Honda Pilot, page 221, states "Your vehicle is not designed to be towed behind a motor home." If you were to flat tow this vehicle and damage occurred you would have to pay for it out of pocket. People do flat tow this vehicle despite this information from Honda. The Blue Ox base plates are only a fit for AWD models and not FWD models. For a FWD model you can use Roadmaster base plates # 1550-1. For a compatible tow bar I recommend the Falcon 2, # RM-520....

  • Comparing the Various Wiring Options to Flat Tow a 2012 Honda CR-V
First, if you are going to be towing the CR-V frequently a more permanent solution for lighting is more ideal. The bulb and socket kit would be my first choice (# RM-155) because you do not have to cut into the vehicle wiring and it is easier to install. If you do not want to drill into the back of the tail light housing but are not opposed to tapping into the vehicle wiring, you can use a diode kit # 154-792-118158.
