Video Transcript for Inno Roof Rack Review - 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're going to be test fitting the Inno Square Crossbar Roof Rack System, consisting of part number INB127. These are the square crossbars, 50" long. We'll also be using part number INTR, which are the Inno feet, for the Square Crossbars, particularly for track systems, or flush side rails. Finally, part number INTR132. This is the Custom Fit Kit for the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Inno Square Bar Roof Rack system is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories on your roof, while freeing up space inside your vehicle. This can carry anything from bike racks, to cargo baskets, to cargo boxes.

The square bars are strong and durable, however, they will make some noise while you drive. Inno does offer several fairings that you put in front of these to cut down the wind noise and drag, which you can find on etrailer.com. The endcaps are lockable, to secure your roof rack system to your roof as well. They also help protect your actual connection plates here underneath from all the weather and elements, while you drive.Next I'd like to give you a couple of quick measurements. From the center of the roof, to the bottom of the bar is going to be about 2".

From the center to the top of the bar, is going to be about 3". It gives you enough space to fit most factory roof rack accessories through, without interfering with your roof, or making contact with your roof. Both bars combined do have a carrying capacity of 220 pounds, but you always want to double check with your vehicle's manual, to make sure your roof can withstand those weights. Now that we've got over some of the features of the roof rack system, let's go ahead and show you how it installs. We have our front bar already installed into our flush mounted side rails, and we have our rear bar partially assembled on our table here. Here's the Inno foot pack, and the fit kit, that we're going to need to install on the other side here, as well as the keys for our endcaps, the plastic end for our square bar, and the tool that comes included with the fit kit, to install everything.First, we're going to start by inserting our leg here onto the other end of our square crossbar.

We'll remove our endcap first, using the included keys. We'll slide this end onto our square bar like so. Then we can start installing our fit kit. Next, we'll take our plastic bracket piece here, and we'll fit it underneath the top portion like so. Then we'll flip the bar, and start installing our metal brackets on the underside.

We'll take our bolts with the lock washer and flat washer. Bring them up underneath, and then take our metal brackets, making sure they're facing the proper direction. We'll just loosely install those for now. There we go. We'll repeat this on our opposite side. Our final step, before we set this onto our roof rack system, we'll put our endcap in place, just to make sure that doesn't slide off. Now we can install it. We'll set out bar in place, just being careful, because we don't want to scratch up the vehicle here. You want to make sure how it sets inside the track here, that it's in the right location. You can see how it hooks on the backside here. It grips in this little channel, and on the inside, it grips on the channel the opposite way.Next, we'll measure from center of the bar, to center of the bar, to get a crossbar spread on both spread on both sides. Then we'll measure for our crossbar overhang. Once that is even on both sides, we'll take our included tightening tool, and tighten the bolts down, which will bring those brackets up, and secure the roof rack to the flush mount side rails. Next, will take our endcaps, we'll put those in place. Now we're ready to load up our gear, and hit the road. There you have it for the Inno Square Crossbar Roof Rack System, on our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I had been looking a very long time for a roof rack for my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I wanted round or tubular crossbars, different from the “air foil” style, which were the only kind available from the factory and the many imitators. I finally found etrailer, and these fit the bill perfectly. The attachments fit the rails just like the factory model, and hold the rectangular cross bars firmly. A sturdy and solid product. And even with free shipping they arrived the morning of the second day after I ordered them, in time for the trip I was planning to take with them.

by:

Pros: adjustability, price, sturdy construction, decent appearance.

Cons: square tubes = wind noise, must remove rubber ends to mount/dismount, be careful not to strip out the hex screws

Overall impression: A good, versatile occasional use rack if you don't want a clamp on.

by:

Was very easy to install makes some wind noise but I knew that before I bought it.

etrailer was great to order from! Going to the website makes it easy to see what roof rack will fit your vehicle. Ordering process was a breeze and the fulfillment updates were great. Ordered on the 13th and received it on the 16th so the FREE shipping was super fast. New installs of anything can always be challenging but once I read the the instructions it all went pretty smooth. Installing this Inno Roof Rack onto our 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport was pretty simple and took less than an hours from start to finish. Now we are ready to load up out Thule cargo carrier when we hit the road.

I am writing this review in the context of an owner of an old Yakima roof rack system from many vehicles before the 2021 Hyundai Tucson on which I just mounted four INNO separate sets of components to carry two bikes on top of the Tucson. Note that you need at least three sets of components to have a "base rack" system, including the hooks, in this case the INNO INK680, the INNO INSUT Feet and the INNO INB137 set of crossbars. The feet are rubber coated metal so that they will not mar the paint where they clamp to the edge of the roof just above the doors. The rubber pads are also substantial to provide a slip-proof and paint protecting bottom for the INSUT feet. Read through all the directions for all the components before beginning installation, perhaps even "rehearsing" all the steps before actual installation with tightening everything. The instructions could be clearer, but with practice walking through all the steps they make sense. Once installed, I could grab any part of the completed system and pull upwards, sideways, forwards, and backwards without any play or slack in any of the components. In fact, it was easy to rock the whole car side to side without budging the INNO components at all. Compared to the old Yakima system, the INNO is just as sturdy and substantial if not more so. Just to replace the Yakima "feet" to use my old round Yakima crossbars would have cost more than the total of the three INNO components needed to get the base system. Even better, the INNO system came with included locks to lock the system to the vehicle. Many years ago, the Yakima four lock cylinders were $[XX] extra - probably much more now. So, I think the INNO is at least as sturdy and capable for much less money.

Feels premium and was pretty straight forward to install. I think it looks really good on the 2019 Honda Accord Sport. I plan to pair it with the Inno Wedge 660 cargo box. So far, it seems really well made and has a rubberized texture throughout. I installed it by myself in about 30 minutes without the instructions. It also shipped in only 2 days.

by:

These Inno racks are very high quality, and the installation is straightforward. They look good, too.

I've been a happy etrailer customer for years. Sales staff helped me pick out the right roof rack setup for my new 2023 Escape that worked with my low-profile rails. 3 separate boxes of pieces but they all came together perfectly. Very happy with my purchase and etrailer customer support! Rack is solid, low wind noise and will work with the accessories I need, kayak carrier and cargo basket.

by:

THEY DID IT AGAIN! I was looking for roof racks for our 2012 Honda Crosstour. OEM was not available. I called Etrailer and spoke to Anna and she listened to make sure we got just what we needed.Today I'm going to install and hope they fit our needs. I'm really impressed with Etrailer and there customer service! They have taken care of me many times with several different vehicles! Thank you

We bought this along with the INTR - Inno Feet for Square Crossbars. We used this to mount Thule crossbars and a Thule Adventurer cargo box on a 2001 Subaru Forester. Everything fit perfectly. The Inno mounts were completely compatible with the Thule crossbars. The fast and accurate shipping helped avert a crisis before a cross country trip.

Works great wouldnt have bought anything else and protects paint from getn scratched since i dont roof rails

My wife and I bought a 2019 Tyson with a bare roof and wanted a rack system that would be safe affordable and easy to install and not having to Buy and installed side rails. The Inno system was perfect. . It is solid material with a solid build. The directions were a bit confusing but after some time and with the etrailer how to videos it really made the difference. Ordering was simple and fast. Madison was great to work with she was knowledgeable and helpful. The delivery was fast and exactly on time. I was going to go with another company and another rack system…. I’m glad I didn’t. I saved money and got a great product from a great company. Thanks etrailer, Inno and thanks Madison! And mostly for making my wife happy bc know we can get to kayaking!!!

by:

etrailer gave me fast shipping and a great price. Inno quality is great. I’ve had this on for several months and use it to transport bikes. I use the cheap bike racks on [online] but they work.

by:

I purchased the Inno Rack system and Rhino Rack 581 saddles for my 2007 Mercury Montego. The instructions were easy to follow, and the rack is rock solid. It makes loading and unloading my kayak a breeze. I previously used roof pads and that was ridiculous compared to what this rack does for me now. I am amazed with how quiet with and without the kayak attached is - I don’t hear anything except the very slightest amount of wind with the windows open on the highway. I always have put a one turn twist in the bow and stern straps, but for the rest they’re all straight. I added an extra strap on the rear crossbar that goes behind the rear combing of my cockpit for extra security- but that’s just me. I’ve included a photo to show my setup. Thank you so much Mark S, Becky B, Carol C, and George J. etrailer rocks.

by:

I have a 2022 Lexus GX460 Premium. Fairly simple installation and a almost seem less transition from the fit kit to the cross bar system. Can be done by one person, but I would suggest a two-person system to expedite the process.

by:

Everything is good so far...the Inno rack system appears to made of good quality, fit and finish...it took about 2-hrs to get everything built, lined up, adjusted, tightened, loosened, repositioned, then retightened down...but I’m a bit of a perfectionist with things like this...plus I was checking my Saris cargo bin and various attachments, make sure that they’d all, which they do! And very well I might add...I just need to buy some new square carriage bolts for the channel now, along with new knobs...hoping that etrailer will get back to me with info soon...I will likely get a new wind deflector too...yesterday I did a test drive, was very pleased with the minimal whistling that occurred, and that was primarily between 30-40 mph and it was much quieter than my old Saris Roof Rack....after 40 mph the whistling got much quieter, very faint high highway speeds

2016 GOLF R MK7

Love it! Never installed
one of these before. 30mins to put together. Another 30-45mins to install on the car. Once you get the concept for once of the bars, the second one goes by quick. It’s just understanding how it works/how it’s suppose to be installed at first.

by:

Roof racks are very loud. Probably won’t keep them on all the time like I was planning. Shipping was very slow and took almost a month to get my order that was in stock. Overall the racks do what I need them to do.

by:

Great system. Got it installed the night before a road trip, and once you get the hang of if, assembly is easy and intuitive. This system is rock solid and well done.

Things I wish I knew that would have helped in my decision:

1) After you install the footbeds, the rails and tower easily remove as one unit in the future, and they include little covers to put over the feet. No more long debates about wind noise. If you find them modify or don’t like the look, take it off in five minutes. Even the Allen wrench is stored neatly in the rack.
2) I had been a long time Yakima user, so that’s where I started with my GX rack. Having searched far and wide for landing pads, I was all set. Step one of the Yakima system: remove factory rails. Having just spent good money on this truck, I’m not taking off factory rails and adding silicone around the holes to create new mounting points. Innos fits nicely to the factory rails.

by:

Well made. A bit complicated to assemble base, instructions could use some diagrams to help.

  • Recommendations for a Roof Rack and Accessories on a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
I have a solution for your roof rack carrying needs whichever season it may be. First lets start with the rack that will custom fit your 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Since you have the flush roof rails that run front to back I recommend the Inno Roof Rack # INTR, # INB127, and the custom fit kit # INTR132 to complete your rack setup. These parts will give you the bars, mounts, and fit kit to attach everything to your vehicles roof. According to Inno this product should be used on vehicles...

  • Can Inno Square Cross Bars mount to Thule Podium Cross Bar Towers?
While roof rack manufacturers do not specifically make or test their products with products from other manufacturers, I can tell you that the Inno Square Bars, # IN436L, are the same dimensions as the Thule Square Crossbars prior to 2019. Thule changed the design of their square bars in 2019. If you have the old Thule Podium Feet, # TH460, then technically the Inno bars should fit based on their dimensions, but you must understand that there would be no warranty coverage or guarantees...

  • Options for Transporting e-Bikes and Skis on 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee
I do have a solution for you, however there isn't a ski carrier similar to the Thule Tram # TH9033 that would be compatible with an e-bike hitch-mounted bike rack. Any e-bike hitch rack is going to be a platform-style carrier, such as with the excellent Saris Freedom # SA4412B, because of the heavier weights they need to support. Unfortunately there isn't an adapter component available that's designed to attach to a carrier like this for ski transport. With this in mind your only option...

  • Fit of SportRack Vista XL Roof Cargo Box w/ Inno Square Crossbars on 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The Inno roof rack you mentioned, which consists of the following parts, # INB127, # INTR and # INTR132 would work just fine with the SportRack Vista XL roof mounted cargo box, part # SR7018. The roof rack is compatible with a 2011 Cherokee that has the roof side rails WITH the chrome strips on them. The cargo box is compatible with crossbar spreads of 25-7/8, 27-7/8, and 29-7/8 inches. Since the crossbars will be capable of sliding fore and aft as needed, you'll have no trouble spacing...

  • Are INNO Square and Thule Square Crossbars the Same Dimensions
INNO square crossbars and Thule square crossbars are the same dimensions, 7/8 inch by 1-1/4 inch. The part # INTR would then be compatible with Thule crossbars. To complete the rack for your 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee you would also need the # INTR132.

  • SUP Carrier Recommendation for 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The Inno Boardlocker Board Carrier # INA445 would work well on your 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee once you install the part # INTR, # INB127, and # INTR132 roof rack. I attached a review video for you to check out as well.

  • Inno Roof Rack that Fits 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Factory Track on Roof
Inno has a roof rack that fits your 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the factory tracks on the roof with the part numbers # INB127, # INTR, and # INTR132 but the # INXR-6 that you referenced won't fit your vehicle.
