Today in our 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport we're going to be test fitting the Rhino-Rack Vortex Roof Rack System. We're going to be using the 54 inch arrow bars. The part numbers are RRVA137B-2, RRRLKVA, and DK360. To begin our test fit we'll grab the front half of our rack here and we're going to open the front doors on our Santa Fe. We'll then place our rack right up on to our the front roof line of our vehicle here. Now per the fit guide from Rhino-Rack we need to measure 16 inches, from the center of the door jam here.
Not inches rather but centimeters. So we'll measure 16 centimeters from where the two doors meet and we want the center of our foot pad to be placed there. There's 16 centimeters, right in the middle. Now we're going to do this measurement on both sides. This is going to ensure we have our feet in line with one another.
Here right to 16. Bring it on back. There we go. With our measurement done on both sides we're going to take our tool and begin tightening down a little bit on each side. The first time I tighten I just like to get all the slack out of it on both sides. Then we'll begin tightening it down a little bit each time. Alright.
With our front nice and secure we'll close the front doors. We'll open the rears then we'll grab the rear half of our rack. Of course we'll place on to the rear roof line of our vehicle. Right across there. Now we're going to do another set of measurements here on the rear bar.
We're going to measure 70 centimeters from the center of the front bar to the center of our rear bar. You can use the front edge to the front edge, the middle to the middle, or the rear to the rear. Whatever you prefer. I usually go right here to the rear of it then I'll measure 70 centimeters to the rear of it here. That's a little too far. Right there. Now this measurement we're going to do on both sides also. This will ensure just like the front that we have both of our feet in line with each other, but it's also going to ensure that our bars are running parallel. It's going to make it easier to attach any kind of accessories or things like that, that we'll want to do later. And again, I'll usually just push up here and on that initial tightening process I'm just going to take the slack out. That way it's kind of holding the bar in place. Then we'll go back and fourth a few times to finally secure it to our vehicle. The inside of the clamps here have a rubber protection on them. It's very hard to see. It's just a little strip of rubber that goes all the way around. That's designed to protect your vehicles finish from any kind of scratches or scrapes that you might get from other types of fit kits. It's fitting on there really well. Alright. With the front and rear secure we've got one more step to finalize our installation or test fit if you will. That's going to be placing on our locking covers. See you see currently this is exposed and of course we don't want that exposed to the elements so we'll place a cover on it, turn the key to lock it in place and that's going to of course deter any kind of theft, but also keep this working for a long time. With all four of our covers on that's going to complete our test fit today. The Vortex Arrow Group rack system from Rhino Rack. We've used part numbers RRVA137B-2, RRRLKVA, and Dk360 all on our 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. .

These heavy-duty, aluminum crossbars work with Rhino-Rack legs to create a sturdy roof rack. The square bars include built-in C-channels for mounting Rhino-Rack heavy-duty, contractor-grade accessories.I’ve had this rhino rack for over 3 years and it’s been excellent on long road trips to the ski slopes. A year after my purchase, I realized that I was missing the plastic coverings that attached to the end of the bars and called their customer service to resolve the missing pieces. I was impressed with their quick response and seamless delivery.
The rack fit well and was easy to install. Seems to be made well. The problem is the amount of road noise. I never even put the basket on. It was so loud, it roared. I repositioned it several times but the noise was way too much and I finally just removed it. I spent a lot of money for the rack and the basket and now they are in storage. I wish it would have worked out better because I thought it looked really good.
This has been a disaster, and terrible experience from the start. Original product Rhino roof rack ($188.00) misrepresented for sale, even called and was told all parts were included as "Open Box" item. Received item with missing parts and mismatched parts, then ET sent wrong parts (Legs) causing having to order these cross bars ($192.00) to fit parts sent (Legs). Now my $300.00 BougeRV ski rack - mounting base plates won't fit the crossbars. Still waiting for return label for original item so I can get my refund of $188.00. Three weeks later, still dealing with problem. I do appreciate Shawnee and EDW for their efforts in follow up service attempts.
Great product, fit was spot on with correct vehicle specific parts. Etrailer
was fantastic to work with. Great communication and feedback, worked through a small problem with positive outcome. Will definitely purchase from them again, their customer service department is top notch.
Ordered a Rhino Rack for my 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali. Rack arrived in very good shape and all items were there. Installing at this time and see no problems ahead.
Tricky to rivet tracks onto car with a manual riveter but once done, a great solution for the car with ease of bar removal. My only regret was going with the square bars which result in notable increase in wind noise.
High-quality, sturdy rails, but noisy. There was a pronounced and audible whistle driving with these racks at any common road or highway speed (with the rubber inserts installed across the top). I have since replaced these rails with the Rhino vortex aero style (change of vehicles and the HD bars did not fit the new car). Having used both types several times, I would recommend the aero style over the HD if you have the option.
Product installation instructions were fair, and that is the worst thing I have to say. I havent put anything on the rack yet as I just installed it, but I gave a good tug on the bars and they are SOLID. The product came in a reasonable amount of time, and the feedback for etrailer is that I got followup emails at each step of the process keeping me fully informed right up to the message asking for feedback.
Bottomline: etrailer is a great business to work with, and this product seems to be good too.
I am normally a exclusive Amazon shopper, but etrailer gives equal or better service and has specialty items you just can't find anywhere else. The pricing is great also. This is my 4th order from them on this project and the response has been perfect and the shipping has been prompt. They even offered to take back an item that I did not need. I desperately wanted to mount my 19ft Kayak on my new RV and with some Rhino RT tracks, a Rhino Nautic kayak lifter, a few really heavy duty rivets, and some ingenuity, I was able to accomplish the task. I am replacing the current Nautic bars with the heavy duty bars. See the attached pictures.
Good quality and locks are included. The plastic lock covers are flimsy but they will keep an honest person honest.
I got the roof rack mounted anyways. Better pics to come when it's all finished!
Can't really comment on the bars because they didn't arrive but the legs got here. Called Justin and he is getting them shipped, just wondering why it takes so long to get here. Picked on 8/12 and delivery is set for 8/23.
Terrible product! I had to tighten the piss out of the clamps just to get the doors to shut. But the window frames were pushed out. So I had to adjust all the striker pins in the door jams down. But the weather strip does not form fit around the clamps and now there's terrible wind noise. If you have a naked roof, get the factory rails. Taking these back off.
We installed our Vortex Aero rack on a 2013 Santa Fe Sport. The instructions were easy to understand, and it took me and my husband about an hour to install. The rack looks great on our car. The etrailer customer service has been a great help. There is never any wait when calling them, and they are always helpful. We are very happy with the roof rack and with the etrailer team.
This kit is easy to slap on and sturdy enough to balance my skis and snowboards. I recently used the Rhino Rack on a three hour drive to a ski resort and had no issues.
I have to say that I was hesitant ordering from a company that of which we had never heard, but we did anyway. Fabulous decision! Shipping was fast. Company to consumer communication was right on the money. These took no time to install in addition to the crossbars we ordered. They fit on my SantaFe sport 2013 with panoramic sunroof fabulously. Looks just like the video vehicle. Bought them for a couple of ten foot kayaks. No slipping or shifting. Went up to 60mph. If you are hesitant, don't be. My husband and I are thrilled with our purchase! We have even been return customers!
The roof rack works great and is easy to put on and take off the Santa Fe. We attach our luggage carrier on it for trips and when we take our daughter to college and bring her stuff home. It increases our space so we can carry more.
This is my second Rhino-Rack. They go on very easily and hold the bikes/kayaks and even an extension ladder very well....thanks for a great product
This rack works perfectly on my Nissan Versa for carrying my two Perception Sound 9'6" kayaks. The Rhino-Racks look good to me. The kayaks can rest directly on the rubber pads on the rails, unlike the Yakama racks I had in the past that had bare pipe rails. Also, I expect I can buy parts to adapt this product to a different car without having to buy new towers. I am sorry there are not hooks or loops to attach bungees when carrying lumber. They are noisy in the wind, but less so when carrying the kayaks.
Overall, happy with the product. I found that every few days after long drives the roof clamps loosen slightly and need to be re-tightened, depending on your load. When first installing the roof clamps, one of the clamps had a small metal bur on the edge (manufacturing defect) which left a nice sized scratch in the roof. Other than that, the rack has been a good product for the price.
The rack and crossbars were easy to install using the instructions and videos, great product, very happy we got them.
Two items I received surprised me when I unpacked the box were the rails because they were not black like I saw in the picture, and the rubber insert that I am having a hard time sliding in the rail. Should this rubber insert have come already installed in the rail or is there a top on how to put in with ease?
Awesome roof rack! I got it to haul my kayak around. The rack is super solid and so easy to install. I was planning on taking it off when not using it but once I realized there is zero wind noise from it I am just going to leave it on, looks good on vehicle too!
eTrailer and RhinoRack are the best! r>^^^^
This is an excellent product. It was the only product that would fit my truck. I was able to mount it by myself, it took me longer than I thought it would, but it helps if you watch first a video on line about how to put it together. The support staff is excellent if you miss any parts. I highly recommend it for the 2015 Nissan Rogue.
