Today, we're taking a look at our Thule WingBar Evo Roof Rack System, with the custom Fit Kit, for your 2019 Kia Sorento. The Sorento is a great vehicle for different types of situations. You have a lot of space inside for your friends and family, but you also have the ability to go on those different adventures. Now, what if you want a roof rack to carry around those different types of accessories though Let's say you wanna carry around kayaks, or a roof box, or a roof basket, or even a roof-mounted bike rack. In that case, an aftermarket roof rack, like the one we have right here, might be the solution for you. So, this is the WingBar Evo roof rack system, with the 47 inch long Thule WingBar Evo crossbars.
We also have the Evo Feet for fixed mounting points, and then we have the custom-fit kit for your Sorento. What impresses me with this one, is the ability to move the crossbars wherever I want them to go. That's not usually something you would find for a fixed mounting point vehicle. So, here I have it set to 34 inches, just because that's where the backs of the mounting holes are in the back of the Flush Rails.
You can move that forward though up to 36 inches if needed, which is where the end caps, or the top caps are on those rails. So, here's the roof measurements with this too, because every roof rack will have a different height that it adds to top of your roof. Ours here is at top of the glass roof to top the crossbar, 4 1/2 inches. That's where your cargo is gonna sit. If you have skis and snowboards, especially the skis with the extra tall bindings, you wanna make sure that they don't hit your roof.
So if that's the case, you know that clearance, and you can take a look at accessories that give you more clearance if needed. The second measurement is the space underneath the cross bar. So, here we have it at 3 1/2 inches. So, some accessories have clamps that go around. This is gonna be plenty of space, even for those with wing bolts and wing nuts, and U-bolts that go around.
As for overhang, you have a little bit, but not that much with the 47 inch crossbars. You can actually adjust it, or offset it, to one side or the other if needed. But you are limited to around, we have one inch of clearance here. You can maybe push it out to an inch and a half, or two inches if needed. So, not that much for some accessories that require a certain amount of overhang clearance. So for security, if you have the track-mounted accessories, the end cap pops open just like that. So, then you don't really have that much security for those. Make sure you get get locking T-track-mounted accessories, if that's what you're looking for. Another thing is the tower. So, you have these plastic locks included, with the ability to upgrade to metal lock cores. So for the plastic locks, you just need to use a flathead screwdriver, or the back of a key, and you can now pop that end cap off and get access to that Allen key tightening down those clamps. So, in terms of the turning fit, you may wanna check out those metal lock cores as an upgrade. Installing this is actually pretty simple. You just have two different clamps, you have the special foot pad, and then you have the bolt that goes onto your tower. So we're gonna start with the tower, and then I'm gonna show you how to get that onto the crossbar, and then we're gonna get it onto your flush rails. So first, this is gonna be our first bolt. So, this is the bolt on the tower, and then we're gonna get this clamp onto it. So, see how we have this hook part that goes out, and then we have the two prongs. Well, those two prongs go into your tower, fit that bolt through, and make sure this is sticking out. And then get your rubber flip pad. All of them are gonna be the same, which is great, because you don't have to worry about getting them mixed up. Then this is gonna fit over that clamp, and then into your tower. Finally, get the clamp with a little slot on top. That slot is gonna fit into the first clamp. So go up and then down, and then make sure that there's space for that bolt to peek through. So, that bolt is peeking through, so you can get this nut onto there. So, see how you have that Allen head side open there, and you have the threaded side on the other one. You're gonna get that onto your tower, and you have to move your tower a little to get it lined up, but just gently, or lightly, thread it on there. Now, make sure that the end cap is off of your crossbar. You're gonna slide this tower through, bring that all the way down, feel free to put the end cap back on. And then you're gonna bring your crossbars and your tower up onto your flush rails. Just get them in the general location you want them in. And then, you're gonna measure for the width of the crossbar, so make sure there's an equal length on each side. But, you're also gonna measure for the crossbar spread, so you can see how far apart from the other crossbar you want it to be. You're then gonna use your tool to tighten down on that bolt. So, this is gonna tighten the clamp to your flush rails. This has a torque setting, so just keep turning until your tool clicks. Once all four towers are tightened down, the next step is to get your plastic lock that pops in through the end cap of your tower. And if you're using, or maybe you upgraded to metal locks for your tower, this is the time when you install it now. Your tower end cap is just gonna fit into your tower, and you have to push in for it to lock into place. And then you're gonna just use a flat head screwdriver to turn that lock into the locked position. And that's how you know that your end cap is secure on there. So, just double check that all the towers are properly clamped down, and that all the end caps are locked and on your towers. And after that, that's it for the install. You're ready to hit the road. This is another great product by Thule. It looks good and functions as it should. It was a little finicky to get it adjusted to everything was symmetrical. Use tape measure and take your time. I have not had to mess with it since I installed it. I’ve hauled my bike about 5000 miles on top of this roof rack.
I've had the roof rack for a year now and we only use it sporadically in the winter to put the ski box ontop of the car but it works great. Very easy to install and remove and very sturdy. Previously I had the kind that bolted into the roof of my SUV and had a terrible experience with that (we lost the rack and kayaks on the freeway and it tore holes in my roof). The clamp style is the only kind we'll get from now on because they are much sturdier and no risk of losing them. Definitely recommend them.

I've owned this roof rack for a year now, and it has served my purposes (carrying my kayak around on my truck) quite well. It was fairly easy to assemble, largely because the entire instruction guide was in pictures.
I have had to retighten the rack a couple of times since putting it on the roof, so I tie the kayak down to the front and back of the truck as well as to the roof rack. I suspect the ocean kayak puts a bit of lift on the roof rack resulting in the loosening.
Worked perfectly on my 2020 GMC Sierra. Looks and works great.
I have almost always had roof rails on my vehicles. My F150 had no rails and I was nervous about clamp style rack holders given what I tend to carry on top. These have been great and I am positive I have overloaded them numerous times.
We just purchased a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe as our retirement vehicle for traveling. We wanted to install cargo accessories but the dealer prices were WAY to high. After researching for several days we found etrailer.com. The prices were the best we found and the service was outstanding! We installed a Thule roof rack system that fits flawlessly and allows the panorama sun roof to plenty of roof to operate. The videos made in really easy to install. We also installed a trailer hitch system. The Tekonsha Trailer Wiring kit was also a piece of cake to install. If you're hesitant to work on electrical systems, there's no need to be afraid. It's actually easier than it looks in the video.
The Curt Trailer Hitch gave me major headaches. The delivery company banged the box up pretty badly. Apparently it tweaked the hitch just enough so that the holes were misaligned. No problem, after talking me through the installation one more time to be sure it was damaged, they shipped a new unit. The second hitch went in fine. It took a while, and it's not as easy as it looks in the video, but I'm 67 years old I did the installation myself...
Overall, I gave five stars because the price match guaranty makes it a wise choice price wise. he videos are a big help during installation. But the real difference is the service. A lot of folks provide good service to make a sale, but etrailer goes the extra distance to provide great service afterwards. That's unique! Thanks etrailer!
Bought the Thule Wingbar Evo 118 crossbars and Thule Evo Raised Rail footers and installed them on my 2016 RAV4. Pretty easy to install and I did watch a few videos online to make sure I was doing everything right. I like the new raised rail system from Thule as it is clamp style versus the rubber strap - both work very well, but the newer clamp system is nice because the tool you use to tighten the footings clicks when it reaches the right tightness so you don't over tighten it. I recommend these rails and the footings (Thule 710401) as the system is quiet when driving and looks good.

Perfect fit and easy installation. Highly recommend for a lower profile rack. Also allows sunroof to vent on 2016 Lexus RX350. Haven’t driven with them on yet so I don’t know how road noise is at this time.
One of the Evo Clamps is missing the plastic plate where the rubber spacer attaches. Please send a new plate or new clamp so I can finish my install. See attached photos to see the difference.

Great product from Thule. Fit my 2022 Ford Ranger perfectly and is very strong and secure when installed. Excellent customer service from trailer and extremely fast shipping.
I bought the Thule Evo Roof Rack to transport my kayak on my Lexus 300H. Thule will advise you on their website that his particular rack is not right for a Lexus 300H (i.e., they don't make a roof rack for a Lexus 300H); it is really for a Camry, but etrailer told me that is worked, I trusted them and they were correct. After all, a Lexus sedan is really a fancy Camry, but Thule will not acknowledge this point. It works great. Thule makes a solid product.
Superb quality. Of course, it is from Thule and they are expensive for sure. But, you really get what you pay for!
And, just consider how expensive it would be if using something more affordable (cheap generic brand) and the racks/bars take off from the roof with the box on the highway!
These will not take off, super sturdy and fits the car perfectly.
Just be sure to get the right kit.
And follow the paper instructions coming along the parts.
Can recommend these, were for Nissan Leaf 2021.

Solid foot for Thule roof rack. Used these for square bar but applicable for aero bar options as well.
Installed on a pickup truck. Hauls canoe very well. We love our rack. Easy to mount and very strong. No issues in thousands of miles of hauling. Great rack.
Customer Service at etrailer is par none, both before the sale and after. I had an unpleasant experience elsewhere buying and installing a roof rack for my old Prius. After a few days of frustrations, I sent it back to that old online store.
This time, I contacted etrailer to see what ALL I needed to install a rack on my new 2018 Honda CRV. They sent me the part numbers and a link to purchase. Viola! After they arrived, I had difficulty with one of the parts (at 69 yo my hands are not too strong or flexible) and contacted etrailer. They sent pictures and more thorough instructions on installing the rubber strip. Another VIOLA!
I'm so very happy with my total experience at etrailer. Customer Service, truly, is not better any where else I have made online or brick-n-mortar purchases.
