Hi everyone. It's Angelina here etrailer.com. And, today we are looking at our Yakima roof rack system with baselines towers and jet stream crossbars, here on our 2021 Honda accord. On your Honda accord, If you want to carry around a safe bike racks or roof basket, but you don't have a hitch you can pick up a roof rack like this from Yakima. And this works for naked roofs. Just like what we have here on our car.
It has a custom fit hook that way when you install it and tighten it down, you can even slam your doors on it without having to worry about it denting or scratching your car. This roof rack system comes with jet stream crossbars which I really like since they're Yakima's aerodynamic crossbar options. They come with T track channels, and this can be used with your T-track accessories at mount straight into there. And that don't need to be clamped around, which I like since that allows you to use the full crossbar space. This has 165 pound weight capacity.
So, when you do have this loaded up also make sure to follow whichever is lower whether it's your crossbar capacity or your brief weight capacity. These are the 50 inch crossbars here on our accord, which I like cause they have minimal overhang with a smaller car like this is nice because then you're less likely to bang your head against longer crossbars, which I've learned the hard way. So, we'll take some measurements. This has an overhang of an inch from the tower to the end of the bar before the end cap but you can also pick up longer bars, If you want that overhang. Let's also take some measurements for clearance purposes.
Your distance between the bottom of the bar to the top of the roof at the closest point is three and five eighth. As for the height of the roof rack from your roof it sits at four and a half inches. These are baseline towers with the option to lock them. So, if you purchase four locking cores, you can pop those in and make sure that they are key to like with your other Yakima accessories. You are limited by how this system is measured.
So, you do get a crossbar spread of 32 inches. So, just keep that in mind when you're thinking about roof baskets or cargo baskets. So, I already installed the front bar and we're gonna install the rear bar together. Now, what you first have to do is set up your crossbar. You have to take out the strip that is inside and then cut it later to fit, Once you have your towers installed. And from here, you have to install your towers. You're going to first installed these steel plate that slides into your crossbars. So, on underneath your tower there will be this tab you have to open. So, open that up. That tab is right over here and that will allow you to tighten it down with the included tool. So, just put that steel piece right on that bolt and then tighten it down to attach it. Just make sure it's loosely attached loose enough that you can still slide it into the crossbar but tight enough, that is attached to your tower. And once that is in place you can then slide your tower onto your crossbar. There you go. Here on your crossbar, You're also going to loosely tighten it down but just enough so that it doesn't come off your crossbar. We'll also check it later to make sure you have it in the right position before you tighten it down fully. Now, your fit kit comes with different foot packs. Now, you have to make sure you're using the right foot back for the right cross bar. Sometimes, it's different for the front and the back. Here on the back, we have a different size from the front. So, we're having this on the rear crossbar, just pop it onto your tower and you can do it with the tower on or off. I like to do it with it on the crossbar just so we get faster. There's an arrow underneath the foot pack and make sure that it's facing the outside of the crossbar or away from your vehicle. Now, you're gonna hook your hook onto your tower. Now, see that tab inside your tower. You're going to have that inside and that's what your hook attaches to and then down. So, once that's in place, you can tighten it down just enough to keep it in place but loose enough to attach your car. From here, you're gonna put it on your vehicle. And I recommend having a friend help you grab the other end as you put it on your roof, just like that. And then place it loosely, before you take measurements to find out it's exact spot. The instructions on your fit kit will have instructions for where you will place the towers. Here on our 2021 Honda accord for measuring eight inches from the end of the glass to the front of our tower. And from that front tower, we're going to measure 32 inches from the front of the lead crossbar to the front of the rear crossbar. So, this needs to be 32 inches away. So, I'm going to move my tower over a little bit towards the rear. Once your crossbars are 32 inches apart to the edge of the crossbar, right over there, you can then tighten down your tower underneath, and this will tighten down the hook and keep turning until it clicks twice, like a gas cap. There we go. Once you have it tightened down, you can then put that lid into place and then put your front cover on make sure to hook it in from underneath right there and it pops into place. And that's it for the install. My final thoughts about this whole system is I do like how it is a nice streamlined look on my vehicle. It has minimal overhang and it looks very sleek and minimalistic. One thing though it was kind of difficult to get it all lined up. So, be sure to double check your measurements and make sure you follow the instructions or else just a little bit of a change here and there may make it a lot more difficult to install it tightly and securely. But, once you have it all down I think it's a great roof rack that gives you the opportunity to carry around all that you need for your adventures on your Honda Accord. Also, I like to use my Moki doorstep just to give me a little extra height and leverage as I get up there. And that was in look here at our Yakima roof rack system with baseline towers and jet stream crossbars, here on our 2021 Honda Accord..

Full-length aluminum bars maximize carrying capacity.Excellent solution for my 2023 Chevy Silverado. In the past, I have had rails installed on the roof of my pickup trucks, but I find the BaseLine towers to be a better solution, since they don't permanently change the truck. Plus, they are much more solid than SkyLine system on the rails.
Love my Yakima roof rack!! It exceeds my expectations.great product. Also thank etrailer for the tec support! great staff always there to help thanks again!!
Follow the instructions, and you can't go wrong on the self installation
Yakima Baseline with Yakima CBX 18 Cargo Box fitted on my 2012 Toyota Corolla S Sedan 2012.
Instructions were clear and roof rack was easily installed.
Your notice of schemes was a lot better than the yakima site provided. They did not suggest the scheme you did.
But when the products arrived, the instructions were by yakima. Generally worked as instructed except the tower to tower transverse mounting dimensions needed to be tweaked for a perfect fit.
Really easy to install & work as specified. So happy with the customer support/service at etrailer.
You guys provide great products and excellent customer service.
Thanks
etrailer's selection process, delivery ann installation help both online and on the phone was excellent
Great fit, holds tight to roof.
Ackage came 2 days early the install was somewhat easy (did it by myself)
Did not get to mount anything to it but seems really sturdy. One thing I can say is mark out your mounting points with provided stickers then put up and make adjustments to the roof rack.
The 50” jetstream cross bars were perfect for my 2019 Ford Ranger with my ARE cap. They are paired with the Yakima Skyline towers and appropriate landing pads (protip: call etrailer when you order to ensure you have the correct setup;)
These cross bars are SILENT on my cap. Zero wind noise. My daughter and I installed them on a Friday (I do recommend watching etrailer’s installation video in addition to the paper instructions) and left for a 700 mile weekend road trip the next day to pick up a kayak, paddle with friends downstate then drop her off at summer camp.
Even with empty Yakima Jaylows on top, no wind noise. Even with a boat in the Jaylows, no wind noise.
These are the sweetest rack’s I’ve had. With the Skyline towers and landing pads, they are also easy to take off and put on. Click click done.
They look good, too;)
etrailer customer service for the win, too. When I originally ordered, I did not order all the items I needed for installation. When I realized this, I called and they got me squared away.
I’m using these towers in conjunction with the JetStream cross bars. Assembly and setup was easy, all the tools you need are provided, except perhaps a tape measure for mounting. Looks and feels solid and well made. This is my second set of Yakima towers and cross bars. I plan to use this setup for an old roof top hard shell case and for my mountain bike to get to the trail head.
After completing the installation I took it out for a spin to check for wind noise at highway speeds. No discernible noise, I’m very happy about that as I really don’t want to remove these when not needed. For reference these are mounted on a 2019 Subaru Forester Touring with factory raised rails. Plenty of clearance for attaching equipment and gear.
Side note: the gentleman that assisted me on the phone while ordering was very pleasant and helpful, got me the right products very quickly as I was in a time crunch. Two thumbs up!
Solid build quality and easy installation on my '21 Mazda CX-5.
The installation was super easy, and despite a long time stuck in shipping the delivery itself was extremely fast, and the package arrived in spotless condition. The manuals were very easy to follow, and the end result is absolutely amazing. They provided a nice, flush finish and hold the racks down tight.

So far so good. Purchased these towers to use on a 2022 GMC Canyon with HD bars that I already had, primarily to carry my canoe. Yakima's fitting instructions worked perfectly and the whole system seems really solid.
Well packaged and on time
Great product - very good quality. I liked the fact that I could keep the risers mounted on my car, but could remove the cross bars. It took me awhile to install - but I'm not very mechanically inclined.
etrailer installation videos were very helpful in selecting the product and first installation, although in practice, minor adjustments to method were required. Now after more than a dozen set ups, mounting the crossbars takes 15 minutes, and taking them off, 10. The system is well made, and when mounted, precise, strong, and reliable. Expensive perhaps compared to alternatives, but well worth the money. Used to carry a 50# sailboard 40 miles to the beach on weekends. ('11 Honda Fit)
One minor shortcoming: rubber sheet glued to base clips where they touch the car body have torn and moved sideways 1/16", but expect will be easily replaced with readily available 1/16" sheet rubber (e.g., shower pan liner) when the time comes.
Used in rain at least once, (sustained 60mph), with no leaks.
Good condition quality. Good and detailed instructions but aittle tedious install.
Roof rack parts were ordered correctly and shipped quickly.
I needed crossbars for my new 2018 Mazda CX5, which came with flush side rails. The Yakima crossbars, along with the RidgeLine Towers and the the vehicle specific kit worked great. The installation (10-15 min) is super easy. They look cool, and performed great (I strapped 160-lbs rooftop tent on them!). Removing them is also super easy (10 min tops). Highly recommend.
Because of the 'rona-induced supply chain interruptions, I was unable to purchase all of my Yakima components from etrailer, but I did get these, and they are typically excellent Yakima components. Well-made, easy to install, good directions, no problems.
I chose the Yakima roof rack, because It spanned 50 inches, rather than the leading competitor's 47 inches, making it better for tying down 4 ft x 8 ft sheets of building material. It also seemed to be about half the price. It took me about 2 hours to put it all together and mount it on my car. The instructions were all visual and there was one little pic I didn't understand, but the equipment seemed to go together correctly anyway. Now that it's adjusted, it should be fairly easy to remove and replace next time. I did need to put on super tacky gloves to get the covers off. Although it seemed unnecessarily complicated, I would still choose this product again.
Yakima Jetstream cross bars.. nice bars worth the extra money. can be adjusted for pitch/angle of attack to "tune" the air profile.. mine have absolutely no high speed wind noise or whistling.. rubber weather strip underneath further smoothes the bar profile.. quietest roof rack system I have ever owned..
