Today on our 2015 Ford Edge, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Core Bar Roof Rack System, consisting of part numbers Y00421, this is the Core Bar Crossbar 50 inches long, part number Y00146, these are the Baseline Towers for the Yakima Crossbars, and part number Y06102, this is one set of the Fit Kits for your Ford Edge, and part number Y06139, and this is the final Fit Kit for your Ford Edge. The Yakima Core Bar Roof Rack System is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories on your roof while freeing up space inside your vehicle. The two bars have combined carrying capacity of 220 pounds, although you always want to double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure that your roof can withstand that weight. The bars have a nice aerodynamic shape to them and that's going to cut down wind noise and drag while you're driving. Also, all the towers have these knockouts here which you can buy lock core systems which are sold separately, so once you install this onto your roof, it will be secure to your roof as well. Know that we've gone over the features of the Roof Rack System, let's go ahead and show you how it installs. We have our rear bar partially assembled on our table here and I will finish assembling it by attaching our Baseline Tower to our Core Bar. We have our tower set up here. Our first step is we're going to insert our adapter piece that comes with our Core Bar. You just push it into place until you hear a loud click like that. Next, we'll take our bracket here, slide that over our bar, then loosely install this portion onto this.
Now, the screw here will connect to this point on the bracket. We'll first slide out this gray piece here so we actually have access to that very screw and then we'll line it up, use our included tightening tool, and loosely install it. Now, you'll see that there are settings here or notches. You'll have to check in your instructions to make sure you don't have to make any adjustments here. We do at this time, so we'll loosen up the screw here and push this dial back to that notch there and then tighten it down. Now, one of the nice features about this tool is once you have it completely tightened, you'll hear a couple of clicks. Again, we want to make sure that our bolt here aligns with this notch, but before we do that, we'll make sure that our crossbar spread measurement is set. We'll measure from end to end and again this measurement is in your instructions. Loosen that up a little bit so we can move it and now we can completely tighten it down. All right.
We push that cover back over it and then we'll move on to our Fit Kit. We'll take our landing pad here and push that into place. Once we have this installed, then we can install our end cap at the end of our bar and now we can set this on the roof of our vehicle. Then we're going to measure from center of the bar to center of the bar and again you'll find this measurement in your instructions as well and we're going to do this for the other side as well. Now, we're ready to put our clips into place. We'll open this gray hatch here and we'll push our clip into place. There we go. Just notice that it's in a raised position here. This screw, once you turn it to the right, it'll lower the hook into place. We'll repeat this process on the passenger side.
Once it's set where it needs to be, we'll start to tighten down that center portion which will bring the hook or the clamp snug up against the door. Our last step is to put our covers in place. Just snap in. Now we're ready to load up our gear and hit the road. There you have it for the Yakima Core Bar Roof Rack System on our 2015 Ford Edge.

In the past, I have had rails installed on the roof of my pickup trucks, but I find the BaseLine towers to be a better solution, since they don't permanently change the truck. Plus, they are much more solid than SkyLine system on the rails.
Love my Yakima roof rack!! It exceeds my expectations.great product. Also thank etrailer for the tec support! great staff always there to help thanks again!!
Follow the instructions, and you can't go wrong on the self installation
Strong, Solid Bars, Super Light, and really easy to install!
Your notice of schemes was a lot better than the yakima site provided. They did not suggest the scheme you did.
But when the products arrived, the instructions were by yakima. Generally worked as instructed except the tower to tower transverse mounting dimensions needed to be tweaked for a perfect fit.
Really easy to install & work as specified. So happy with the customer support/service at etrailer.
Ackage came 2 days early the install was somewhat easy (did it by myself)
Did not get to mount anything to it but seems really sturdy. One thing I can say is mark out your mounting points with provided stickers then put up and make adjustments to the roof rack.
etrailer had a quick response to my email request for info regarding the replacement parts I needed. The suggested replacement part were exactly what I needed to fix the issue.
Solid build quality and easy installation on my '21 Mazda CX-5.
Happy with the purchase. Crossbars shipped and received quickly.
So far so good. Purchased these towers to use on a 2022 GMC Canyon with HD bars that I already had, primarily to carry my canoe. Yakima's fitting instructions worked perfectly and the whole system seems really solid.
Well packaged and on time
Yakima towers and crossbars were solid and easy to install with the very well written instructions. We used them on 2 cross country trips with any loosening. They were easy to remove. We plan to use them again as the need arises.
Perfect fit for our car, much better than any OEM rack I've ever seen.
Roof rack parts were ordered correctly and shipped quickly.
Very happy with the Yakima roof top rack kit for my 2017 Ford Edge with glass roof. The instructions were a little confusing at first, but after reading through them a couple of times while working with the product they became much clearer. The Yakima fit site was helpful as well. After the initial cross bar mounting measurements and set up, attaching and detaching the racks from the roof is a very simple process.
Great product fast shipping
Great! Easy to install!
Work exactly as they should and hold everything securely to my vehicle without interfering with the car’s normal operation. etrailer had best prices based on my research. These bars are much quieter than traditional round bars and worth the added expense.
Easy to install thanks to the etrailer video. I have used the rack system on many long distance trips including driving from South Carolina to Yellowstone.
All aspects of the purchase and installation were great. Based on the information provided on the etrailer.com website, I had a high level of confidence that I was purchasing the correct product(s) for my vehicle. The installation was relatively simple and straightforward and the rack is rock solid on my roof. It appears that I did a great job of following the directions :)
Easy to install and sturdy. I carry a 9' pontoon boat on my camper shell using this rack at freeway speeds with no problems.
The crossbars are light and very strong. They fit perfectly and installed easily.
Nicole was beyond helpful!!!
Dealing with etrailer has been very easy. The first roof rack was incorrect and they worked with us immediately to get it resolved. In hindsight I am glad as the Yakima is a much better quality and works great with our car.
Thanks!
