Optronics ILL22 Series Sealed Low Profile LED Dome Light Dimensional Diagram

Need extra light over your RV kitchen sink for when you do the dishes? Or perhaps you need to upgrade the dim, old lights in your travel trailer? This dome light has cool white LEDs that give you brighter light underneath a kitchen cabinet, in a walkway, in a closet, or inside your enclosed trailer. And the sonically sealed housing and lens are waterproof so water won't leak in and damage the LEDs.

Optronics Dome Light LEDs

LEDs are more energy efficient, last longer, and burn brighter than lights with incandescent bulbs. You won't have to worry about replacing bulbs that have brittle filaments. And because LEDs draw minimal power, the light won't drain your battery, overload your circuits, or produce too much heat.

LED Circuit Board Has Surface-Mount Technology

Unlike other LED lights, this dome light has an LED circuit board with durable, surface-mount technology. This technology will better resist the shock and vibration that happens when you drive over rough roads. And it improves heat distribution, which means that you won't burn your fingers when you need to do maintenance.

Raw Lumens vs. Effective Lumens

Lumens are utilized to measure the actual amount of light that you can see and use from a light source. If you need a super bright light for a workspace, you will want to go with a light that has a higher lumen count. If you want a softer glow in an RV living space, you should go with a light that has a lower lumen count.

Light sources typically have 2 different kinds of lumens: raw and effective. Raw lumens represent the natural amount of light that a manufacturer says their light fixtures can produce. Effective lumens, on the other hand, represent the usable brightness of the entire light assembly, including the drive method or any lenses or reflectors.

Surface-Mount, Bolt-On Installation is Easy

Optronics Dome Light Installed

This surface-mount dome light is incredibly easy to install as an upgrade or direct replacement of your existing light. Using hardware (not included), bolt the housing onto the ceiling, wall, or cabinet. The light wires to a switch inside your RV and hooks up to ground (white wire) and power (black wire).

What's going on everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Opti-Brite LED Dome Light. This light is gonna be for your 12 volt DC systems. If your trailer, camper, or RV is running off 24, we're not gonna be able to use this light. But we do have some of those on our website, but this one's for 12 volt DC systems. It's gonna pull about 0.7 amps, which is a little bit more than some of the other LEDs that you see here on our website.

But this one has 18 diodes and it puts out about 810 lumens. So it's really, really bright. That's why it's gonna draw a little bit more, but it's gonna draw a lot less than your incandescent bulb. So, if you have some of those in your trailer and you wanna take my advice, grab some LEDs, just because we can have twice as many LEDs in the trailer. Get twice as much light.

They're gonna last a lot longer, and we're gonna draw half as much, if not even more than the incandescent bulb. So, the LEDs are the way to go. Whether you're putting it on the inside of your trailer, camper, RV, or on the outside, the whole entire case is gonna be waterproof. So, you don't have to worry about the water and the elements getting to it. The lights only gonna be about 4 1/2 inches long, and about 2 7/8 inches tall.

And it's gonna stick out for the ball about an inch. All in all, the light is extremely bright. I really liked that. I liked that it is waterproof, so you're not limited to putting on the inside, you can also put it on the outside. And also, it's LED.

I like LEDs compared to the incandescent bulbs for obvious reasons. But we've gone over all the specs, so now, the only thing that's left is to show you how to install it. So, if you stick around, we're gonna show you how we did it. First thing we wanna do is figure out exactly where we want our light. I'm just gonna replace the light that was here before. I already have wires ran, so if you do great, we don't have to run any wires, but if you don't, we're gonna need a positive and a negative wire. So, once you do that, make sure you figure out which one is which. So when we go and hook them up, we're not gonna be wasting connectors, try and find that out. So find out now, then you go ahead and put the lights in the side. Whenever you do get these wires, stripped, be sure to twist them together. And then I like to start just with one wire and not putting both of them in on both sides this way. It's just a lot easier, especially if you're doing it by yourself, whatever direction you end up twisting it. I like to kind of twist this guy on there and make sure it's all the way in there. So then you can crimp them down. You wanna make sure it's nice and secure 'cause I am gonna be hiding these wires into the wall. And I don't want these to come undone if I pull them out, 'cause that would just, it's just a little bit more things I have to do. It's just not fun losing wires and having to spend time fishing for them. So once you get them crimped down, it's smart to give them a good tug, make sure they're nice and snug. And then we can go ahead and grab our light. So hook them up. Same deal as before. Once we get all this done, it's always smart to check and make sure that's gonna light up before we shrink these up. So now that the connections are made and they're nice and tight. We're gonna let that hang. And I'm gonna triple check and make sure it works. And if it does, which it does, we can go ahead and proceed. So I'm gonna use a heat gun. If you go on the heat gun, you can use a hairdryer. It's just gonna take a little bit longer. But as we start to heat these up, we start to see that it's gonna form around the wire, so it's gonna one, seal it from the water especially since these wires are gonna be back behind the wall. It's always nice to make sure these are sealed tight. Because sometimes water does get in between the outside paneling and the interior wood. So as you can see there, it's nice and sealed up. I'm also gonna hold on to the wires, so that they're crimped down all the way. So I'll just hold them in place. Just to give me a good piece of mind. This really is the best way to connect wires to make sure you have a clean connection, but also definitely a lot better than wire nuts. Wire nuts are not my friends. They always come on done and they're just bulky. And especially if we're gonna have it in the wall, we don't want them to be bulky and get hung up on anything. So once that's all done, we can go ahead and fish our wires back through. Just like that. We wanna get it positioned to where we want it. I'm just gonna go ahead and do something just like that. And the hardware is not included. So you are gonna need four screws. And what I'm just gonna use is just wood screws. And we don't want to be too. I don't wanna tighten it down too tight, 'cause we don't wanna crack the housing. So power tool isn't necessary for this. I'm just being extremely gentle. So if you are gonna use power tools, be really gentle with it and not to over-tighten. And we are done. And that'll do it for a look at the Opti-Brite LED Dome Light..

These are super bright and easy to place. I've used them in the basement of my motorhome and also used one to replace a burned out bulb on the outside of the motorhome. They are a very good value for the $$

by:

I installed a couple of them in our NT37 bilge areas. Being able to see while crawling around in a confined space without a flashlight is important and these LED lights take so little current. Great product. Easy to mount, good light output for the current, and very little heat generated.

Make it so much lighter in the bathroom

Purchased these light for my cargo trailer and they do not disappoint. Installed four dome lights and the interior is now VERY well lit. I have them located high on the side walls of the trailer; two front left/right and two rear left/right. These unit are BRIGHT! Exactly what my dark trailer needed. I had my local trailer repair service install the four units and they reported them to be very easy to install. Service through etrailer was excellent, as always.
