When replacing gas shock on your vehicle or RV, you will want to make sure you are buying a replacement with the exact same extended length, compressed length, and pounds of force. This information is usually printed on the shock. Lengths are measured from the center of the ball joint used for mounting. If you are planning on installing gas shocks on something for the first time, identifying the shock you need requires fairly complex initial calculations, so be sure to do your research to avoid purchasing a shock that will not fit your application.

Video Transcript for Review of JR Products RV Door Parts - 100 lb Force 26.3 Inch Entry Door Gas Shock - 372-2600-100

Hi there, I'm Michael with www.etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this gas shock. This shock is going to replace a worn or damaged shock on your RV's entry door or storage door. Of course, the purpose for a shock like this is to make it easier to open your storage door, and prevent it from slamming shut, so you don't have to worry about fingers getting caught, or any of your gear getting smashed, anything like that. So, this is gonna make it much easier to open up. It's got a 100-pound force behind it, so it's gonna help with that lifting action, and it's going to help resist closing.

You're gonna get a nice gradual close with this in place. This will attach to your 10-millimeter ball socket. This is the ball socket that will attach to your 10-millimeter ball stud. So it'll just snap right in place. There from the center of one ball socket to the center of the other, when we have it extended like this, it's right about 26 5/16th, 5/16th of an inch long.

If we we're to compress it, it would compress down to about 15 and 5/16th of an inch. So, make sure that that's gonna work for your situation, the compression force, and the distances that you want there. This does have a nice, black nitride finish to it, so it is gonna look nice. Should do a really good job for you once you get this installed. If your current gas shock is just not doing what it needs to anymore, this is gonna be a great replacement for you.

That's gonna complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with www.etrailer.com. Thanks for watchin'.

I’ve never ordered from a company that was so kind, supportive and so willing to please. I will certainly stick with you guys for all future needs, thanks so very much guys, you’re awesome!

The selection process was easy to follow. I needed gas struts with a greater lift capacity for our under bed storage due to the addition of a memory foam mattress. I was able to select a strut pair with the proper length and extension from the website. The struts were received quickly and were exactly what I needed. The bed now raises gently and remains elevated.

by:

When my package arrived it was beat up and one of the clips on the end of the shock was missing, not what I would give a good report !!

by:

Item was exactly as advertised, easy installation, fits perfectly on our RV door. Our previous gas shock was worn out & would not hold the door open. This product is sturdy & stable. It fixed the issue.

by:

This strut did not fit precisely due to the thickness of the end connectors. They are thicker than the original strut and since the strut has to fit between the bottom of the door and the threshold in the closed position it would not allow the door to close. I found that by exchanging the end connectors with the original strut I was able to install the strut and close the door. The only problem with this solution is that the new strut with the old connectors is slightly longer than the old strut/connector assembly and now allows the door to open slightly farther than before. Our awning arm just barely clears the door when opening and closing so will have to be very careful from now on when extending and retracting the awning. Our motorhome is a Sunseeker 3010ds model in case this is helpful to others ordering this product.

by:

Product is installed but instructions were a bit vague and difficult to implement(related to the removal of previous gas shock bar).

by:

Exactly what I needed for my Kwik Kamp motorcycle trailer! It's nice to share information in our group when we find parts to use for our discontinued campers.

by:

Thanks, now my tool box won't cut my arm off.

by:

product works well, shipping took a little longer than I expected

by:

Very fast delivery! I've ordered from e-trailer several times and service has always been great!

by:

These work great for toolbox lid

by:

Price is right and product fit and functioned well for my application on a Leer truck topper rear glass door

by:

Works great haven't had any problems with it, would buy again if I ever needed it

by:

This fit my 05 Bigfoot 9.6 camper door with about 3/8 compression left. This is the shock you want. It has a slow open feature and does not slam the door open possibly risking tearing the mounts off. So no worries about people who just open the door and head out. We used to have to coax the door open. Not you can let go of it. Love this shock!!

by:

Exactly what I needed delivered in a timely manner

by:

The Stabilus shock holding the 22" door of our bumper pull trailer open was weak. Mild wind would push it shut. This shock fit right onto the existing ball joints. A small blade screwdriver pried the "c" clip back, allowing me to slip the socket over the ball, and the clip snapped into place. Maybe 30 seconds and the shock was installed.

The biggest challenge was determining what force I needed in the replacement. The existing shock had the model information scraped away where it rubbed on the door threshold. No where could I find on the etrailer site what force a small door shock should be. I ended up chatting with an RV service tech I know, who looked it up in his parts catalog. Turns out 10 lb force is standard except for large RV doors. I would suggest etrailer.com add this information on their online catalog. Maybe it's there and I couldn’t' find it? "Gas shock force needed for RV doors."

by:

Product was damaged and not received, but etrailer stepped up and sent another gas prop. More companies should have these work ethic’s. Good job

by:

fit and worked great

by:

This item was not an exact fit but it was very close and it worked. My thanks to Josh for his help and time he spent with me to figure it out. The difficulty was there was no part number or part to use or measure. Josh was working in the blind and lucky for me it worked.

by:

Great customer service and prompt delivery.
I haven't installed them yet but look to be the exact replacement part for the current ones in my camper.

by:

Overall, I was satisfied with the process as well as as quality and condition of the door opener. I was fortunate that the opener fit correctly. There was some dissatisfaction that your web site offered little in the way of cross-reference data for a direct replacement with the existing opener on my trailer. Also, considering that the item was in stock, delivery took longer than I had anticipated.

by:

Excellent service. Definitely going to order from them again.

by:

All that I expected. Jaime did a great job helping me make sure that I ordered the proper parts. Thanks

by:

These shocks made my RV cabinet door stay up like new again!

  • Is A Replacement Gas Strut With A 100-lb Rating And Measures 27" Long Available?
I spoke with Atlas Lift, and the poundage rating for the Hood Lift Support # ATL45VR is not something they record. However, we have some other options that are close to what you're looking for. We have the Taylor Made Marine Gas Strut # 3691869-100, which has a 100 pound rating, and is 28" long. and we also have the Gas Shock # 372-2600-100, which also has a 100 pound rating, and measures 26" long. Unfortunately, we do not have any gas struts that have a 100-lb rating, and measures 27" long.
