When replacing gas shock on your vehicle or RV, you will want to make sure you are buying a replacement with the exact same extended length, compressed length, and pounds of force. This information is usually printed on the shock. Lengths are measured from the center of the ball joint used for mounting. If you are planning on installing gas shocks on something for the first time, identifying the shock you need requires fairly complex initial calculations, so be sure to do your research to avoid purchasing a shock that will not fit your application.

Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and today we're taking a quick look at the gas shock. This is going to have 80 pounds of force to help lift your RV entry door or your storage door, so it's going to keep that door from just slamming closed. It helps to lift it up so you don't have to and should be a direct replacement for any gas shock that might have busted on you or gotten bent somewhere along the way. The compressed length is going to be about 11 1/2 inches long, so 11.41 according to their measurements. The total length whenever we have at extended is about 20 inches, so that's going from where it mounts here, so about there to there, it's about 20 inches. So if we go from that same sort of spot, our compressed length will be about like that.
Again, the force is going to be 80 pounds. It comes in black nitride, it's the color there. So hopefully this is going to be the part that you need to replace that gas shock. If not, we do have other configurations available here at etrailer.com, so definitely check them out. Thanks for watching and we'll see you next time..

Holding up well
On time delivery and problem solved.
The strut was packaged well and fit right on. The assist worked well as it's lifting a large steel hood on a piece of airport equipment. I can't give it a 5 star as we'll have to see how long it lasts, but I'm happy with the purchase thus far.
It's exactly what I ordered - got here right on time. It's been working well. The best surprise is no surprise.
Etrailer always has the product i need! Thank you!
Haven't installed but service, delivery peice supply were excellent.
The selection process was easy to follow. I needed gas struts with a greater lift capacity for our under bed storage due to the addition of a memory foam mattress. I was able to select a strut pair with the proper length and extension from the website. The struts were received quickly and were exactly what I needed. The bed now raises gently and remains elevated.
When my package arrived it was beat up and one of the clips on the end of the shock was missing, not what I would give a good report !!
Item was exactly as advertised, easy installation, fits perfectly on our RV door. Our previous gas shock was worn out & would not hold the door open. This product is sturdy & stable. It fixed the issue.
This strut did not fit precisely due to the thickness of the end connectors. They are thicker than the original strut and since the strut has to fit between the bottom of the door and the threshold in the closed position it would not allow the door to close. I found that by exchanging the end connectors with the original strut I was able to install the strut and close the door. The only problem with this solution is that the new strut with the old connectors is slightly longer than the old strut/connector assembly and now allows the door to open slightly farther than before. Our awning arm just barely clears the door when opening and closing so will have to be very careful from now on when extending and retracting the awning. Our motorhome is a Sunseeker 3010ds model in case this is helpful to others ordering this product.
Product is installed but instructions were a bit vague and difficult to implement(related to the removal of previous gas shock bar).
Exactly what I needed for my Kwik Kamp motorcycle trailer! It's nice to share information in our group when we find parts to use for our discontinued campers.
