More Awning, More Shade

Solera XL Provides 20 Percent More Shade

If you're getting a new awning, why not get more of it? This Solera XL awning comes with an extra 1'8" of fabric, giving you more shade to enjoy on your patio. This is a definite plus for Class A motorhomes, fifth-wheel campers, toy haulers, and RVs with a slide-out under the awning. If you've got a large camper, you want a large awning to match.

Auto Rain Dump

One thing that can quickly ruin your camping trip is a broken awning. It's not easy or cheap to replace, and you can't really enjoy your patio without one. A big hazard to a healthy awning is rain: water pools in the fabric, stretching it out and putting strain on the arms with extra weight it isn't designed to hold. Next thing you know, the fabric rips - the arms snap - the whole awning comes crashing down, slamming against your RV and leaving you with a big and costly problem.

For traditional awnings, it's up to you to run out in the rain and lower one of the arms yourself so the water can run off. If you're away from your RV when it starts to rain, you can only hope your awning isn't damaged when you get back. This Solera awning solves this problem: it comes equipped with an automatic rain dump function. As soon as rainwater starts to pool in the fabric, one of the arms will automatically drop, giving your awning a pitched angle. The rainwater will then run off to one side, taking the pressure off the awning and your mind.

Adjust Arms for Best Shade

Solera XL power awning manual pitch adjustment

It's hard to get your awning in just the right place to keep you in the shade all day, especially if you have one that's pretty high off the ground. Sometimes you need just a little slant to your awning to keep the sun out of your eyes. The manual pitch adjustment built into these arms gives you that option. Simply pull on one of the arms at the friction joint to drop that corner. It comes down easily and holds itself there for as long as you need it. When it's time to retract your awning, there's no need to readjust it; the awning will slide back in no matter what pitch the arms are set at.

Durable Vinyl Fabric

Black Fade Awning Fabric

The durable fabric of this awning holds up to the rigors of the outdoors. It's made of premium 13.5-oz vinyl, which is an upgrade over the 10-oz fabric used in many awnings. In addition, this fabric features heat-welded seams to prevent leaks. The fabric is cold-crack protected to -25 F, so it won't crack or degrade during cold weather.

This awning also comes with a built-in weatherguard to prolong the life of the fabric. This extra-thick layer of fabric lines the section of the canopy closest to your RV. When the awning is retracted, the weatherguard is the only section exposed to the elements, providing the rest of the fabric with a layer of protection when the awning is not in use.

Installation

Solera XL Awning Installed

An awning rail is required to anchor the fabric of the awning to the RV, and your first step will need to be installing one (LC715216 - sold separately) if you don't already have one on your RV. You will need a minimum of 4-1/2" between the awning rail and the top of the entry door. You'll also need 78" of open space on the RV wall - from the awning rail straight down - so that the wall-mounted brackets for the awning arms can be installed.

The roller tube comes with the awning fabric already mounted and attaches to the awning arms. The other side of the fabric slides into the awning rail on the RV. Then use the included self-tapping screws to secure the arms to the wall-mounted brackets. The awning drive motor wires to the included switch, which can either be connected to your battery or wired directly into your RV.

Video Transcript for Customer Interaction with the Solera Power Awning

Hello neighbors, it's Brad from etrailer and today we are at Worldwide Technologies Raceway and I'm here with Tyler. He's got an awesome enclosed trailer and dual Solera awning setups. So being out on a racetrack how crucial is having something like this It's big, you know, I mean especially here at Worldwide, I mean, everything's asphalt which we love, you know, working on these cars all day you wanna be on asphalt, but it gets really hot, you know, especially in July and August and summertime and having two awnings that you can just flip a switch they run out and you got shade all day. I mean, it can cool you down to 25 degrees it feels like. And, you know, racing by myself too, having electric awnings, like the Solera where you can just, like I said hit the button and roll 'em out. You're not spending hours, you know, setting stuff up and stuff like that.

It's just, I gotta switch in here for one and a switch in here for the other and they're out and it's shaded and it's cool. I mean, it's a big game changer for what we do. Especially, I mean, we're here seven days this week so having shade, not wearing yourself out's big. You bet. Yeah.

Not having to pack up, you're fold up tent every night and having to store it. Yep. Yeah. The fold up deal, I mean, you know, we did that for years and it's just half the time you just leave them there because they get broke or you know a little bit of wind breaking an arm on 'em and you you just leave 'em sitting where they were and have to spend a hundred bucks the next week. And this fixes all your problems.

Most people think about awnings on an RV or a camper, but Tyler's situation is something we're seeing a lot more these days. In the past few months, we've installed awnings on several enclosed trailers for this very reason. It's hot at the track and you have a lot of downtime between the heats. So not only upgrade and replace awnings on RVs but we've added them to enclosed trailers to provide shade on track days or even construction trailers to make a hot day on the job site a little bit more tolerable. Awesome.

Thank you Tyler. Thank you. An awesome day. At Worldwide Technologies Raceway. We got to meet lots of neighbors whether they be local or around the country right here in etrailer's own backyard in Madison, Illinois. Now it's awesome to see them in their element with their race cars and we're happy to allow them to have the parts and accessories necessary to make sure that they have the best experience while towing their race cars around.

  • Does the Solera 14' XL 12V Power Awning Come In Burgundy Fade
Peter, unfortunately the only burgundy fade awning offered is the Solera XL 12V Power RV Awning # LC65FR which is quite a bit wider than # LCV000334942-362241 at 21' wide. It does look like Lippert carries this awning in burgundy fade so your best bet is to get one through them.
