Video Transcript for Kats Heaters Vehicle Heaters - Engine Oil Heater - KH15200 Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to take a look at the Kat's Heaters Engine Oil Dipstick Heater. Now this dipstick heater will temporarily replace your dipstick to heat the oil and the air inside your engine crankcase, to ensure better lubrication in cold weather. The warm oil will help provide better lubrication for a longer lasting, better functioning engine. Now this is a nice semi flexible stainless steel tubing. Allows for greater coverage in the case. It will conform with most curves in the oil stick tubes. It is designed to plugin to a standard 120V AC outlet.

It is made in the USA. A few specs on this, this application is for dipstick openings that are about a 1/4 of an inch in diameter or larger. Now overall length on this, from the very end to the other end, not including the cord, probably looking right at 27". Now the cord length is going to be right about 10". And just the heating element length is going to be right at 23".

Wattage on this is 90 watts. And the nice thing I want to mention about this, now you do need to remember that at least 5" of this heating element needs to be submerged in the oil for it to work correctly. And then you're probably figuring well how are you going to know that Well what they do is this card that they send it on, if you'll notice they have this card and on it is . You take out your factory dipstick and you lay it down here and it shows you the 5" you need to show on your factory dipstick where it will say minimum oil level, you do want to make sure that it reaches that 5" oil level. So it's a very easy way to tell if this is going to work correctly for you. But that should do for the review on the Kat's Heater Engine Oil Dipstick Heater..

The oil heater that goes in the dipstick works pretty well on my Toyota 4Runner but in trying to stick it in my Chrysler Town and Country with a 4.0, it broke. When I put in the year make and model of my van it said it was okay to use 15200 obviously it's not.

by:

After reading the reviews, I ordered 4 on the hopes 2 would work. First, as per instruction, be sure they are submerged in at least 5 inches of oil. I had 6 .5 inches. My oil capacity is 8 quarts on an aircraft. This was my test on 3 units. Note cold engine ambient oil temp. (all tests were 40-50 degrees) Ran the heaters 1,2, 4 hours and overnight. Start the engine and note the time to reach 100 degrees. Times went from 9 to 11 minutes. Very little difference from no heater. Longer times oil could be heard bubbling and smelled burnt. A hair dryer after 4 hours only took 4 minutes. I'll be trying an external oil pan heaters next.

I've used this item before and it worked great. I haven't used this one yet because the outside temperature is in the 50's now. This item is made of stainless steel, so it will last for years without rusting or wearing through. It is long enough to fit my engine, and should fit just about any engine. I would not recommend for large diesel trucks. Plugs right into an extension cord, I recommend a power cord of at least 12 gauge under 25 feet. I am glad to fine this item can still be purchased.

by:

Nice job getting it to me in a couple of days. However, the dipstick heater does NOT work! It got stuck approximately halfway down to the oil pan and would not bend to negotiate a curve in the tube. When I plugged it in, the heater did not even get warm. I took off my glove to check. Nothing. When I went into my house to take a break, I found that the kitchen outlets did not work. The garage is on the same circuit, so the laughably poor product had tripped the breaker! Amazingly POOR PRODUCT!!

by:

the dipstick heater is working perfect. the part was delivered in the snowstorm
could not have come at better time. single digit temperatures

  • Engine Heaters for 2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid 2.4L XLE
The Kat's Heaters Engine Block Heater # KH11813 is intended for use in the 3.5L V6 and 2.5L inline 4-cylinder engines offered in the 2015 Camry, including the hybrid XLE. The other type of heater you can use for your transmission or engine oil pans is their # KH24500 which is a pad-type heater that measures 8-1/2 long x 5-1/2 wide. It attaches to the underside of your vehicle's oil or transmission pan with included 3M tape. We also offer a dipstick-type oil heater # KH15200 which is easy...

  • Recommended Engine Oil Heater for 2015 Toyota Venza
Toyota discontinued the Venza in 2015 so your car would have to be a 2015, not a 2016. Kat's does not show a confirmed fit for a block style engine heater for the 3.5L, but you can use their dipstick style heater # KH15200 which is the easiest possible option for any vehicle with an oil dipstick tube of 1/4-inch diameter or larger. This works in any such engine that allows for at least 5-inches of the heating element to be immersed in the oil. The best part of using this type of heater...

  • Can Kat's Engine Oil Dipstick Heater # KH15200 Be Cut to Fit
The instructions for the Kat's Engine Oil Dipstick Heater # KH15200 say that the heater needs to be submerged in at least 5 inches of oil for it to work properly. Since there aren't any shorter dipstick heaters if there is some extra slack sticking out, it will still work just fine. If you cut the dipstick heater it will not work properly.

  • Can Kat's Heaters Oil Dipstick Heater Be Used on Gas Generator
An oil dipstick heater like the Kat's # KH15200 is a pretty universal product so as long as the dipstick opening on your generator is at least 1/4 inch in diameter and you will be able to submerge at least 5 inches of the heater in oil then it will work great. I have attached a short video review that you can check out as well.

  • Oil Heater Compatible with 1995 Chevy C1500
The Kat's Heaters Engine Oil Dipstick Heater # KH15200 is the only option in that style. If 5 inches of the heating element is submerged in the oil, it will still work for you, but that seems unlikely based on the 27 inch length of the original dipstick. Another option for you is to use the Kat's Heaters Oil/Transmission Pan Heating Pad - 5" x 4" - 120V - 150W - Grounded Plug # KH26150 to heat your oil pan and keep the fluid warm for easy startup.

  • Installation Location for Kat's Cartridge Style Block Heater KH11812 in 2014 Kia Sportage
I called a tech at Kat's for guidance and he advised that on the 2.4L engine you will want to use a receptacle on the rear side of the block that faces the firewall for installation of their Cartridge Style Block Heater # KH11812. There should be 5 plugs on the block; you want to use the one to the right (passenger-side) of the center. In other words, if you were counting the plugs from left to right this would be the fourth from the driver's side. I do have an alternate suggestion, using...

  • Recommended Engine Oil Heater for Grasshopper Mower with 36HP Engine
We offer several types of heaters you can use on your Grasshopper mower's 36hp engine. The pad type heaters like # KH24050 that attach to your oil (or transmission fluid) pan with 3M tape are one option, but for convenience I recommend a dipstick type engine oil heater # KH15200 which simply slips into the engine's dipstick receptacle. Unlike the pad heaters that require you to stow the cord after the unit is installed, the dipstick heater comes out completely when not in use and for me...

The Kat's Heaters Engine Oil Dipstick Heater part # KH15200 is a universal fit item that will work on a variety of different makes and models. There are only two requirements for the dipstick heater to work. The engine oil dipstick opening must be 1/4" in diameter or larger and at least 5 inches of the heating element must be submerged in the oil. The heating element on the above dipstick is 23" long.
