Thule TracRac Slotted Crossbars

The sturdy aluminum crossbars on all Thule TracRac truck racks feature integrated slots for mounting and easily adjusting accessories, such as the included load stops. These slots appear on both the top and bottom of the bars for the ultimate in mounting versatility. Like the pieces that mount in the base rails, these accessories also have quick-release knobs that let you loosen and tighten them with a mere twist of a knob so that they can be positioned as needed along the bars.

A built-in trip strip at the front of each crossbar shields the slots from wind, maintaining the aerodynamic quality of the bars and preventing that annoying whistle you often find with slotted bars.

Included Tie-Downs

Thule TracRac Load Stop Accessories

Included with your Thule TracRac SR are 8 tie-down accessories. The 4 load stops are designed to mount in the slots of the crossbars and slide along them for quick, easy adjustment. These bookend-style pieces help to hold ladders and lumber in place on the crossbars. They also have built-in loops for securing tie-down straps.

Thule TracRac ARC Side Cleats

The 4 cleats attach at any of the provided mounting points along the outsides of the upright supports so that you can tie down items that require additional anchoring or that sit in your truck bed.

Sturdy, Rustproof Construction

The Thule TracRac base rails and rack system, as well most Thule TracRac accessories, are constructed of durable, lightweight aluminum. Because aluminum is lighter than steel - the material most often used for truck racks - only a small percentage of your truck's cargo capacity is taken up by the rack itself, enabling you to pack on more weight than you could with a steel system.

Even though aluminum is already rustproof in itself, Thule TracRac has taken that extra step of adding a dual powder coat finish to further protect your rack. The electrostatic powder coat (e-coat) clings to the metal surface better than traditional paint finishes for a more durable covering. The second coat is a clear finish that adds extra shine and protection from scuffs and scratches.

Video Transcript for Thule TracRac SR Sliding Truck Bed Ladder Rack Review

Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the line of Thule TracRac SR sliding ladder racks. So when it comes to ladder racks, there's a ton of different options available, and you're going to want to choose the one that's best going to suit your needs. I will say I'm pretty impressed with this one for one big reason. And that reason really separates this rack from many of the others available. And that's the fact that our cross rails here are actually adjustable. So say if you have a small ladder or some pieces of lumber or something like that, can actually push these two closer together and accommodate for that load.

Or if we have larger items, we're able to pull it all the way back and again, accommodate for it. But not only that, you're not always using your ladder rack and sometimes you need to put something tall in the bed of your truck. Well, a lot of times you're going to have to kind of work around these ladder racks and it can kind of be a headache, but these we're actually able to push them both all the way to the front of our truck on the uprights are going to have some knobs. And when you loosen those up, you're able to make those adjustments. So like I said, what's pretty neat about this one is we can pretty much put these right on top of each other. And so by doing that, we freed up all this space in the bed of our truck here, and now we can put tall items in here whenever we need to.

So if I needed a ladder rack for my truck, one of my first questions would be how much can it hold How much can it support, because you're going to want to load this down over time, I am sure. Well, this one's actually at the higher end of what many ladder racks are rated for. This one is good for 1,250 pounds, and that's a pretty high number. It would really take a lot to max this out. What's even more impressive is this is actually made from aluminum, so it's lightweight, easy to handle and you know, it's not going to rust, so it's going to last a long time and we're going to be able to use it, put it to work for whatever we may need to do.What's pretty cool too on top of our crossbars, we're going to have these adjustable load locks.

So these can really come in handy. Say if you have some lumber up here and want to keep it secure, other than your traditional straps, it's going to kind of go the extra mile. We're able to loosen up those knobs, put some pressure against it and tighten on that load lock. So for me, that just gave me a little more peace of mind, knowing all my cargo is secure up here. And since the crossbars have these T-tracks here, what you're able to do is use other different types of accessories in this T-track, so it kind of opens up your options. And let's just say, for example, you don't want to use these load locks.

Say if they're in the way, you can actually loosen it up and pop them out, so really does give you a ton of different options on how you're able to use your roof rack and other accessories. So it's pretty nice to a lot of times, whenever you put these ladder racks on your truck, you lose some of your tie-down points or your anchors. And what's pretty cool is Thule actually decided to put a cleat here on her upright, so it's really solid and gives us that additional tie-down point that really does come in handy. And let's say, for example, you really only plan on hauling or using your ladder rack for very long loads. Like our customer today, they actually on a lumberyard, and so that's really what they plan on doing. Well, if that is the case, you can make life a little bit easier by picking up the cantilever, which is an additional part that'll bolt right up to this, and what that does is actually extend your rack up over the cab of your truck, so definitely gives you a little more room and space to haul more stuff. And you're not going to have to worry about pushing these too far towards the front of the truck and hitting your cab because there are a little bump stops here, so that'll stop you from having an accident. What's really cool about this setup too, is that it's made from aluminum, so it's going to be really lightweight and manageable, and better yet, we're not going to have to worry about it rusting out, so it's really going to last a long time, so you get a lot of use out of it. It's going to have a dual stage powder coat finish, so it's really going to do a great job of keeping everything protected and looking good. And honestly, I think it would take a lot to beat this thing up, so should stay looking good and lasting for a very long time. So one of the big questions we get asked all the time in regards to this ladder rack system is if you're going to be able to use a tonneau over with it. Well, sometime tonneau covers will work and others won't, and the way you can kind of find that out is if the tonneau cover actually gets secured to the inside of your bed, I would say, chances are pretty good. It'll probably work out. Now, I can't be certain for every single one of them, but there is a couple that I do know work for sure. We've had them in the shop with this tonneau cover and this ladder rack combination. And the two that we do know work is the BAK revolver X2 and X4.So if you're looking to keep your stuff inside of your bed protected and still have a ladder rack, that's a great choice to go to. So our base rails here are going to get installed on top of our bed rails, and they're going to utilize the stake pockets to secure them. So what's nice about that is there's no drilling or anything required, but we have had some customers wonder how strong that really is because it's just a rubber block that is attached to a bolt that goes down into that stake pocket. So I can understand that concern, you might think it doesn't do a good job of keeping everything tight, but it actually works out really well. And just to show you I'll grab the end here, right where it is secured. And if I pull up on it, as hard as I can, it doesn't even budge. So with that in mind, I don't see giving me any issues as far as getting loose or having any problems down the road. So at the end of the day, a really nice ladder rack, that's going to get the job done. And because of its design, what's really cool about it is you can kind of grow into it if you need to. You can use it for other accessories. Say, if you want to go on a trip on the weekend, maybe throw some kayaks up here, something like that. And if you have to get that extra cantilever that extends this all the way to the cab of your truck. So it's one you really can't go wrong with. Now, as far as the installation goes, it's really not too bad. There's no crazy modifications or anything like that, so you shouldn't have any trouble getting it done at home and your garage, or maybe even in the driveway. And that'll finish up our look at of the line of Thule TracRac SR sliding ladder racks.

Not A bad system. I like that you can adjust the ladder racks spacing on the TracRac rail. The hold down pieces on the side of the racks are very durable. Its a very nice looking system, adds flair to my truck. I haven't pushed in on the 1250 lb carrying limit yet but it handles 500-600lbs without any issues.

Love the ladder rack. It's great to have the option to take it off. The only thing that would make it better is if they offered this model in black

by:

This is essentially the same rack TracRac has been making for years – great materials and very well engineered. It is not spec'ed for a Gen2 Toyota Tacoma, because the composite bed doesn't have stake pockets – but after I popped off the plastic bed side caps, there were lots of options for attachment. You just have to be comfortable drilling holes in the rack and in the sheet metal of your truck. In the end, it looks and functions great.

We've been really happy with the Thule Sliding TracRac, and have made some unusual modifications. We wanted to mount it outside/around a camper shell, so we needed to mount the rails outboard of the truck bed (aluminum "shelves") and figure out how to make the crossbars longer (bought a third crossbar and connected extension sections by making three-holed t-slots nuts and using round aluminum tubes). None of this sanctioned by etrailer or Thule, of course. See photos, which also show an adaptor I made to mount a Thule square bar above the TracRac crossbar to use existing Thule accessories.

Past 20 years I've used Rack-It truck racks. They're solid steel, eventually rust and took two grown men (and an extra set of nuts) to remove them from the truck. Great racks. Just way more than what I need the older I get.
However I wanted something that could easily be removed (by myself), if needed, and was aluminum. I bought these, as well as the extension cantilever, and it serves my needs as a general contractor. It supports my 24' walk plank just fine. The only thing I have to be creative to transport is full length rebar. If I transported rebar all the time, this rack would not be my first choice.
At the time of my purchase, there was not a specific rack for my GMC AT4. So I simply measured the bed of the truck, bought one with a similar measurement, and modified the drilling holes to work.
Lastly, I didn't want a silver color rack on my black truck. While you could get the racks in black. You could not purchase a black cantilever. So I simply had all the pieces powder coated black.
Honestly, I get a lot of compliments on it. Because no one else has one like it.
I'm very happy with it. It's perfect for the occasional ladder, walk plank, or 16' piece of lumber. I've had it mounted for over a year now, with zero problems! I remove it weekly to go through the car wash, and throw it back on in 5 min or less when i get home.

DO NOT TRUST THE ADVICE GIVEN BY THE SO-CALLED EXPERTS AT ETRAILER. This rack WILL NOT fit the Carbon Pro Bed...I was told by 2 different "experts" that this rack would fit my 2023 Sierra w/the Carbon Pro Bed, since this rack mounted to the stakebed pockets and not to the underside of the bedrail. After receiving my order, I prepared to install the rails and cutout the front stakebed pocket covers which is required to do the install (also indicated by Kevin C. from ETrailer). As soon as I got to step 3 of the rail install instructions, I knew there was a problem. The instructions indicated there was a hole on the inside of the bed to secure the rear stakebed pocket adapter to. There is no hole or any other type of access to any of the stakebed pockets on the Carbon Pro Bed. So, now I have altered bedrails and have a rack that does not fit. It is completely irresponsible of the "experts" at Etrailer to provide information or direction that is not true or hasn't been confirmed.

Just installed this last night sobs true rating is hard to do. With that said it is definitely good quality very tight with no wobble! Hope it works like I want with removal for trips and going through the car wash. Keeps the truck looking pretty sharp compared to the traditional ladder racks!!

etrailer.com is an outstanding company. I purchased a Thule system in January. Due to logistics (my fault) I tried to install the system in April. Three of the attachment arms were incorrect. I contacted Ashley of etrailer, the sales representative who sold me the system, who patiently listened and after receiving the needed photos and explanation, etrailer sent me a replacement system. The new system was installed and the truck is ready to go. Ashley's professionalism, communication skills, product knowledge were excellent. Ashley and etrailers' commitment to solving my issue expeditiously puts etrailer in a class by itself.

I received packages with Thule trac rac SR sliding truck bed ladder rack,Iam totally disappointed, parts arrived incomplete, mising:
04 rubber shim
04 rubber block for base rail
04 metal pocket nut
also
04 crossbar tie down
I really want you fix this problem by replacing the missing parts or else I will return everything

by:

Very heavy duty ladder rack that does not "whistle" while you drive down the road. Easy install overall, and it is very easy to install and remove the racks as needed after the original install. At the time of purchase this was not available for my vehicle with a short 5.5' bed, but with very minor fabrication the rails for longer beds fit perfectly. I have recommended this rack to several people since purchased a year ago.

by:

I did install the Thule TracRac SR. I did it on my own and it went well.
I'm really pleased with it.

As for the photo, I will send you one, once I've washed my truck.
Can't make a photo with a dirty truck.

I will leave feedback later after some time with the rack.

I searched many ladder racks I was unsatisfied till I found this one. It’s beautiful it’s light and it’s versatile. I have a X-short bed Toyota Tundra platinum with a top. With this ladder rack I was able to keep my topper.

by:

Couldn't be happier with the Rack, it went together and operates flawlessly. Dealing with e trailer was a snap, I was informed all the way through the buying process of shipping and arrival dates. Will absolutely buy shop again with e trailer.

by:

Very happy with the rack on my 2018 Silverado. I also have the Back flip hard top bed cover. I am able to open all but the very last position. I might still be able to adjust the rails and to get there but it hasn't been an issue. Used it to haul lumber and I made a bicycle rack that works with the racks and the bed cover down. Works great. Was not hard to install.

by:

Fit perfectly. Was a little concerned that it wouldn't work with my bed cover. But it does and couldn't be happier.

by:

This is the second trac-rac I have owned and have had one for the past 18 years.
The flexibility it allows is is fantastic. Would not own any other ladder rack

by:

This is a great product and works really well with the Bak RevolverX2 Tonneau cover.
The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because the base track has about a 3/4" overhang at the rear of the bed rails. Unfortunately the bed rails of the 2016 Tundra Double Cab are not square. As you can see from my photos, the front fits flush while the rear hangs over. Besides that, they are very sturdy and installation was simple.
Knowing what I know now, I would still buy this product again.

by:

Really nice rack. Exceptional customer service from Sherry S. Was looking for something to rack out my truck but not lose bed cover. The sliding rack is awesome. Can move it forward if bed room needed. Came back and ordered some additional accessories (self retracting ratchets, pads for crossbars, storage bag, tie down loops. Quality is top notch. Seems pricey, but when compared to other racks isn’t really all that bad when you are getting grade A product that has versatility. Also keeps the truck looking pretty nice. If I could give 10 stars I’d do it. Just buy it… and buy it from etrailer. Delivered on time, as advertised.

by:

Great product! Packaging could be better for the larger pieces (rub marks). My 2018 Ram 1500 quad cab came with some small challenges that I had to solve myself. No videos or written words available. Basically if your bed rails are covered with a bed liner you need to remove the plastic sleeve in the rear stake pockets. Otherwise you won’t get an equal spacing from one rail to the other. You will also need to use the provided rubber tape with the wedges in order to make the rails level. Otherwise it went together great.

Works well

  • Difference Between TracRarc Sliding Ladder Racks 43001 and 43002
The difference is the size truck bed they are both intended for. The part # TH43001XT is for a compact sized truck and the part # TH43002XT is for a full size truck bed. So for your 2013 Ford F-150 with a 6-1/2 foot bed you'd want the part # TH43002XT-501 which is the correct size and fit.

  • Can 2020 Honda Ridgeline Carry Kayak Carrier
There aren't any ladder racks that fit your 2020 Honda Ridgeline truck bed so best option would be a roof rack like the Malone part # MPG216 which is a fit for the raised roof rails on your truck roof. Or if instead you had a naked roof you'd want the Rhino Rack roof rack part numbers # RRVA150B-2, # RRRLKVA, # DK470. Then you could carry a kayak carrier like the etrailer # e98878.
