Transporting Your Viking Solutions Fishing Rod Carrier

Need an easy way to take your fishing rods with you to the lake? With this rack, you can transport your fishing rods to your favorite fishing spot in the bed of your truck. You won't have to worry about your rods sliding around in the bed and getting tangled up, and you'll have extra space in the bed for hauling coolers, tackle boxes, and other fishing gear. And because it's made out of aluminum, the rack won't rust when you put wet rods back into the holders.

Adjusting the Width of the Rack

Viking Solutions Fishing Rod Carrier Adjusts in Width

Once you've assembled the rack together, place it into your truck bed. The mounting brackets on the sides have pre-drilled holes that let you adjust the rack into 4 different overall widths so it'll fit your truck and most other full-size or compact pickup trucks. These brackets mount onto the back wall with the included stainless steel hardware, and the clamps attach to the lip of your truck bed.

Protecting Your Fishing Rods

Viking Solutions Fishing Rod Carrier Adjustable Holders

When the rack has been securely installed, you'll be able to adjust the rod holders as well. If you have fishing rods that come in many different sizes, you can slide the rod holders along the carrier to make sure that there is enough space between them so they won't scratch each other. Once you've positioned the holders to where you need them, permanently bolt the holders onto the carrier using the included self-drilling screws, which prevents the holders from tilting and your rods from falling out. And the angled, low-profile design of these holders will make it easier for you to get your rods in and out of your truck bed when you reach the lake.

Video Transcript for Viking Solutions Truck Bed Adjustable Fishing Rod Carrier Review

Hey everybody, Adam here with etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Viking Solutions fishing rod holder for your truck bed. This is going to be able to get six fishing rods to and from your destination in the bed of your truck. A lot of the times it's just really difficult just to haul that stuff. 'Cause I usually bring more than just fishing rods. So with this, we're not really losing any bed space.

You can still throw some stuff underneath there, maybe all your tackle boxes and everything else underneath this rod carrier, which is kind of nice. 'Cause it only sits down a little bit. Just to give you an idea of how much space you're going to be left down here. So I want to measure from the bottom of this rail to the top of the bed rails, and that's going to be about six inches. So for instance, that's going to give us about twelve and three quarters of an inch from the bed of our truck, to the bottom of this rail.

And we have it slid back as far as we can, but this is just for the Ram that you have here. Sometimes you'll be able to get it a little bit closer. So from the edge of our bulkhead at the bottom to this little tube right here, it's only going to stick out about 11 and a half inches. The inner diameter of this tube is gonna be about two inches. So if you look at this one over here, this one doesn't have any issues at all going all the way in and getting nice and secure.

With this one though, one, the grip is a little thick, but then with this little knob right here, it's not going to go all the way in. So keep that in mind. Some are going to fit a little bit better than others, but I don't think this is a non-usable rod with this carrier just because it goes in there enough, it's going to take a little bit of force, but it's definitely nice and tight. It is made of aluminum. So it's not gonna rust away over time, but it also has a powder-coated finish.

So it is going to look good. And I really like the look of it with the line exits in this bed and also just the black trucks. It gives a good look to it. But one thing that I would definitely recommend, the one I would really use, it's by Viking Solution, but it's a wall mount, so you can have it on your wall and then take it off your wall and then put it into the bed of your truck. And it's also narrow enough to fit into a side-by-side or a ranger. This one is not going to be able to fit into a side-by-side or ranger and half the time I just go out on the property. So that's usually what I'm bringing with me, but the only thing that's going to limit you from using this is just if you have a ton of cover, even if you do have a, let's just say a fuel tank for some of your equipment, or even just your standard toolbox in the back, you're gonna ship this thing up and still use it. We wanted to try it on a smaller pickup truck. This is a 2000 Ford Ranger, very narrow bed, and it does not fit. So with our little adjustments here, when it's completely as small as it can go, it's going to be about 56 inches from this little lip to the other side. And then for when it's completely expanded out, it's going to be about 64 inches from this lip to that lip. So just take a measuring tape, go on your truck, measure from the inside of your rail here to the other side and make sure it falls within those two measurements. So we went over all the specs and everything like that, but we do want to show you how to install it. Doesn't take a whole lot of time. So stick around. We're going to show you. You want to figure out exactly where you want to put it depending on the width of the bed of your truck. We're going to have to make a couple adjustments. So, down over here on this little part that rests on our bed rails, we're going to have multiple different holes. So with your normal sized truck, this is just a Ram 1500 and we're going to be using the farthest holes on the end. So this is as extended as it can possibly be. And it works. So put those through, tighten them up. And then we have the other hardware, which is just a longer bolt, nylon lock nut. And then this little bracket. So basically what this is gonna do, this hole right here. It's got a lineup with a hole on top of a little piece that we just put in. So that's where it's gonna line up. So what you wanna do, just put this down through there and we're going to put this bracket underneath of it, but it's going to go on the inside lip of the rails, kind of like a tunnel cover. Once you put that in, put the nut on, and then we can tighten this up with a 13 millimeter socket. We'll make sure that bracket's nice and squared away. And has a direct link to the bottom of the rails. So there's no like plastic or anything in the way. Now that it's installed, we can put our rods in. One thing about the holders that we have on the whole entire rod holder is that they are adjustable. So whenever you're first assembling this together, you can put them just completely uniform throughout the whole entire bar. But if you wanted to be able to load all six rods, what we could do is take these three and rotate it to this side on the passenger side and then take the other three on the driver's side and push them towards the outside a little bit more. Then you can load everything up and take 'em out without having to get in the bed of your truck. Once you do figure out exactly where you want them, we can take these self-tappers that we're included with the kit and then just a screw gun, little Phillips bit to drill them into these holes, just to make sure that they're not gonna go anywhere. And this is just a nice, easier way to organize all your rods. So they're not just laying in the bed of your truck. Obviously all of these rods are actually longer than the bed of our truck, just because it's a six and a half foot bed besides this one here. So they would be leaning up against the side anyway, with this, you don't really have to worry about any of that. You can use your truck how it was, and you don't have to worry about stepping on all your rods. And that'll do it for a look at the Viking Solutions adjustable fishing rod holder for your truck bed..

Great product! Holding up very well and very useful. Love it!

by:

Actually I am not going to use it at all since we purchased a RV.
I will be selling it this spring.

by:

This thing is pretty awesome for holding rods. The quality is great and it’s super easy to put together. I am giving three stars because its a little excessive. I’ve never needed to haul 10 rods at once. I’m sure some people do but never the case here. Anyways, It wouldn’t be a big deal but if this thing were set up for 5 rods. It would be narrower and I could tie it down with no issues. It’s so wide that the hooks on the rod holder are too close to the mounting points in my full size bed that the tie downs are maxed out.
I ended up wrapping a set of Pro Taper Downs around the fifth rod holder on each side and coming through the side of the holder itself.

Great Product!
I installed it on a cylindrical
piling on the dock. Durable. Better rod securement, than any of the PVC style rod holders. You should sell this on Amazon

by:

Works perfect in my 2018 ram pu

You can replace the 1157 bulbs with # ARC93FR and you could most likely find an LED 193 bulb at your local lighting,...
