Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in the rear cargo area. You will have to remove the trunk floor coverings, ceiling light, ceiling panel, side trim panels, and side access panels to access this harness.

Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your rear cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Great wiring harness! Very poor installation instructions. One of the connections was in the roof of the car, not even close to the location that was on the instructions.

by:

Everything worked perfectly. Will always use the trailer when I need a hitch. Thank you Hannah

I would give you a zero if I could. I was going to purchase more from your site. however the order came destroyed. I was supposed to hear from customer service today. It is now 5:00 pm eastern and I still have herd nothing from the customer service rep I spoke with. She ASSURED me I would hear today as she was off yesterday. I stated that I have an appoint of which I will have waited four weeks to get, and need my light kit. Extremely disappointed.

The wiring harness kit fit to specs and made the complicated tie in on the 2010 XC70 Volvo easier and neater.

by:

I ordered a trailer hitch and wiring some how I got the wrong wiring harness Called and customer service quickly got me fixed up. All the parts aligned properly

2011 Volvo XC70

Shipping was fast everything was pack pretty well expect the wiring harness box witch was smashed and the contents were all threw the box the hitch was in. Id recomend wraping the wiring box in bubble wrap and tapping it tight to the hitch box, other then that everything thing else was 100% great

by:

Connection is literally a snap. For this model the instructions where not explicit but you do need to remove the rear drivers quarter interior panel to gain access to the main harness connection

Great

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver Height and Ground Clearance on 2012 Volvo XC70
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75916 will give you a hitch height of 14-1/4 inches from the ground to the inside top of the receiver. That means you will have a ground clearance of 11-3/4 inches at the hitch. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 13266 will be slightly shorter at 13-1/2 inches to the inside top of the receiver giving you 11 inches ground clearance at the hitch. If you will be towing with this hitch,...

  • Recommended Class III Hitch and 4-Way Wiring Harness for 2015 Volvo XC70
For your 2015 Volvo XC70 I would recommend the Curt # 13266 over the Draw-Tite # 75916. These trailer hitches have an almost identical design. Although the Draw-Tite has a higher towing capacity, it looks like both of the hitches exceed the towing capacity of your vehicle so you will be limited by your vehicle. I would double check the owner's manual to make sure. Both have a concealed cross tube, so you will only see the receiver tube at the back of the vehicle giving it a factory look....

  • No Brake Lights with Hopkins Plug-In Harness On a 2013 Volvo XC70
There are two different sets of tail lights on a 2013 Volvo XC70, a pair in the quarter panel at chest height and a pair in the lower bumper at knee height. I took a look at all the trailer wiring harnesses for a 2013 Volvo XC70 (Curt T-Connector part # C56386, Tekonsha T-One part # 118774, and Hopkins Plug-In part # HM11143735) and these all show the connectors plugging into the tail lights at chest height (see photo). It sounds like you may somehow have them plugged into the tail lights...

  • Removal of Interior Trim Panels and Installation of Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2015 Volvo XC70
Our installers removed the rear cargo liner and routed the wire from one side of the vehicle to the other through the trunk and spare tire area. The panel you have open in your photo should allow access to the back side of your taillights. There may be a small piece of foam you need to remove and replace when finished. Then you should be able to route the wires down the rear cargo area and to the other side. It would be handy to remove the spare tire and allow access to the grommet needed...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for 2008 Volvo XC70
The best hitch for your 2008 Volvo XC70 is the Draw Tite part # 75916 which is mostly hidden and has the best towing capacities. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well. Then for trailer wiring you'd want the part # 118774 which is the most reliable and the easiest to install. If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch...

  • Are Spacers Required for Curt Hitch On a 2008 - 2016 Volvo XC70
In regards to the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13266, which is a fit for a 2008 - 2016 Volvo XC70 the spacers which go between the vehicle body and trailer hitch are only required on models with a raised edge around the space where the hitch installs. I cannot recommend you operate outside of the installation instructions but I don't see a huge issues with using the spacers even if the edge isn't present. If you will be towing then you'll also need a trailer wiring harness, the...

  • Determining Towing Weight Capacities of 2013 Volvo XC70 and 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon
The Draw-Tite Hitch # 75916 is rated for 4,000 lbs towing/400 lbs tongue while your 2013 Volvo XC70 is rated for about 3,300 lbs towing/330 lbs tongue from what I could find online (you will want to verify this in your copy of the owner's manual). The Draw-Tite Hitch # 76227 is rated for 4,000 lbs towing/600 lbs tongue while your 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon 3.6L is rated for 2,700 lbs towing/200 lbs tongue. When installing The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional # 90195 on your 2012 Volvo XC70 the only other part you would need would be The Wiring Kit for 2, 4, 6, and 8 Brake Electric Trailer Brake Controllers # 5506. Since you already have the 4 flat and the 4 flat/ 7 way connector on your Volvo The Wiring Kit For Brake Controllers # 5506 just gives you the rest of the kit needed to activate your brakes on your trailer.
