Video Transcript for Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2019 Nissan Frontier

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com. Today you're going to be taking a look at the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with a seven blade RV style connector on our 2019 Nissan Frontier. Now our Tekonsha wiring harness is going to provide us with the seven way connector at the back of our Frontier, that way we have all of the required lights, like our clearance lights, turn signals, and our brake lights, but it's also going to give us our reverse signal, our brake controller output signal, as well as a 12 volt power source at the back of our seven way.Now I do want to mention that our kit is not going to come with the mounting bracket to mount your seven way plug up to, so you will need to pick up this extra. But here we're using the Pollak seven way mounting bracket that fits our socket perfectly. The socket is going to have a spring loaded door, that way it'll keep all the dirt, debris, and moisture out of the inside, hopefully preventing any kind of corrosion from building up on the contacts. If you're looking to pull a trailer with your Frontier, wiring is going to be necessary, but our seven way not only is going to give us those lighting functions but it's also going to let us add a brake controller later on down the road if we want to, so we have a little bit more control of our trailer. The nice thing about our wiring is the fact that we're not going to have to cut or splice anything.

There's only going to be a few plugs and a few relays to put in and it should only take about 15 or 20 minutes. In fact, let's go and walk through the installation together. To begin our installation, we want to come to the back of our Frontier. Were going to come underneath the rear bumper, and on the driver's side frame rail, we should have three plugs. One of them will probably have a wiring harness in it, but the other two should just have caps in them. We need to pull both of those out.Now it may be a little hard to get your fingers in there and really pressed down on that clip to release it, so what I like to do is take a flat blade screwdriver, and I'll push it in on the center at the same time that I go to pull down.

We're going to pull both of these caps out, the one with the black plug and the one with the gray plug. I will let you know, the gray plug can be a little bit tough to get loose, but we want to make sure we pull both the caps out of those. Now we want to grab our harness. On one end we'll have a green and black plug that's going to match what's on our truck, and on the other end we'll have our seven way connector. Before I plug these into my truck, what I like to do, is I like to put a little bit of dielectric grease to fill up that cavity on each one of the plugs. Hopefully this will prevent any kind of corrosion from building up inside. Then we'll just take our plugs, make sure they go into the connectors and lock and place, give it a quick tug, and we can start routing our seven way connector towards the center of our hitch wherever we're going to mount our seven way plug.

Just keep in mind who are going to need to pick up a seven way bracket to mount it up and depending on which hit you have, you may want to pick up a no-drill bracket as well to mount everything to the hitch. Now we went ahead and mounted our seven way bracket to our hitch because we already have a mounting bracket attached to it. But again if you don't, you can use a no-drill bracket and then pick yourself up a seven pole bracket so you can securely attached to the plug. We'll grab our plug, we'll line it up with the holes. Then we're going to take the included hardware that comes with our bracket, we're going to pass it through, pushing the screw through, then I'm going to secure it down with a locking nut on the back side. We'll do that for all four mounting locations because they're going to give us enough hardware to mount the plug up. Then just use a flat blade screwdriver to tighten down the screws.

Now since they're locking nuts, we shouldn't have to get a wrench. We should just be able to hold it with our hand and tighten them up.Put a little bit more dielectric grease on the end of our connector, and then you can simply just take the plug, line it up with the socket, and plug it in place. A quick tug to make sure it's locked in, and then we'll just tie up all this excess wire underneath where it's not going to interfere with our spare tire and be up out of the way.Now we need to move into the front passenger seat. We're going to open up the door, and right behind this kick panel is where the second part of a harness is going to plug in. We need to remove all these panels here. I'm going to start with the kick panel that connects to the threshold. I'm just going to grab the threshold and start pulling it upward until I can get this panel loose and we get set it aside. Now for this back panel right here where our wiring's going to be going, at the very front of the firewall, we're going to have this plastic fastener holding it in and we should be able to just grab this with our fingers and turn it counterclockwise to loosen it up. Then we want to grab the panel and we're going to pull outward away from the truck until we can get it loose and get access behind there.I'm going to grab our harness, it's going to have three plugs on one side and a large plug on the other. At the very corner right about where we pulled that plastic fastener off, we're going to have the harness that our other section will plug into. You want to line it up, make sure it's facing the right direction, make sure it locks in, give it a quick tug, then we can get ready to plug our relays in to the other side. We're going to have three different relays, two blue ones that are going to be exactly the same. The blue ones are going to plug into the white plugs and they can only go on one way so you don't have to worry about messing it up, plugging it in wrong. Make sure they lock into place, and then our brown relay will plug into the brown plug. Again, they only go on one way so if it's not going on, just flip it around and it should go in.Now with these behind here, there is a good chance that these are going to rattle around and make a decent amount of noise, so in our kit they've provided us with this foam tape. Now remove the backing off of one side. What I'm going to do to one, help the relay stay inside the socket but also dampen the noise, I'm going to wrap each one of the relays with this foam tape so there's less likely a chance that they're going to rattle around or come loose. They do provide us with three pieces so we have enough to cover each one of our relays.Once you have them all plugged in. We just want to tuck all of our relays and the wiring harness behind this panel where it's not going to interfere, you just want to stay clear of any of the mounting points where the panel goes back into place. We'll tuck them all back and then we can reinstall both the kick panels and that threshold panel. Now the final step of our installation is to make sure that all the circuits are working properly. I went ahead and plugged up my tester so we can run through all the lights and functions to make sure they are working, but if you don't have a tester, you can use your trailer at home to verify everything. But if I turn on my headlights, you can see the clearance lights are working, the left turn signal, my right turn signal, my brakes, and even our reverse signal works as well. Now we don't currently have a brake controller in our truck so we're not going to be able to test that function, but if we look at the top where it shows our brake voltage, we can see we are getting a 12 volt signal back there. Now all we have left do is hook up to our trailer and hit the road. But again, I'm Rob here etrailer.com. That'll finish up your look at the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with a seven blade RV style connector on our 2019 Nissan Frontier.

Excellent Product and Video installation. It takes less than 30 minutes to install the wiring kit
Glad that Etrailer provides the Installation Video for the products they sell

Just purchased a new 2019 Nissan frontier with out a tow package. Ordered the tow bar and this required harness. Very simple install in the pass. side kick panel. I am a 25 year auto tech. and this is a easy install.. and same quality as the more expensive brand.

by:

Nissan made this easy by having the chassis already wired for a trailer. The extra wires and relays needed from etrailer made this install very simple.
Plug, plug and plug then I had trailer lights on a 7-pin - no splicing or hunting for the right wires.
Not much skill is required to do this yourself.
I added a brake controller at the same time and it also plugged in and runs along the same wiring harness as the lights.
I also added a receiver hitch at the same time.

There are several wiring kits available for the Nissan Frontier. This is the one I selected based on price. I have no complaints. The wiring, connectors and workmanship are all excellent. Everything plugged together and works as it should. The only thing I did not do was buy a bracket for the electrical connector. I was able to find one locally. I can recommend this kit.

Out of sight, out of mind. This wiring kit continues to work fine so I have not had to think about it.

The hitch, harness and mounting bracket were a perfect fit at a great price. The videos were a big help. Ashley followed up several times to address my concerns with the order and the installation. This was a very smooth project from the order to the installation. Get it right the first time by using etrailer.com......

Perfect fit!

This kit fits exactly and all that is required for my 2008 Nissan Frontier. The kit would benefit to have the mounting bracket for the plug either supplied or as a popup option. I completely overlooked this when ordering and had to source from my local auto repair shop.

The trailer breaking system works as designed. Takes a little bit of adjusting to find the sweet spot depending on the weight youre towing.

Great product! All items were included as described and has been working properly for over a year now.

Nissan Frontier

Wanted to be able to pull a RV trailer with my '08 Nissan Frontier which did not come with a tow package originally. This kit provided a great solution. Kit was a perfect mate to the existing factory wiring. Everything needed was in the package and install was simple. I try to keep lithium grease on the connection points for added protection. Only wish the bumper mounting screws for the female connector were stainless or coated as the screw heads are for sure rusty after a year's install. However, trailer lights work every time they're plugged in.

by:

good products with prompt delivery

Everything came on time and as ordered. Thank so much to Sara R. for all her help in getting our order to us in time for our camping trip.

by:

Our dealer did not use one of these Plug and Play Wiring harnesses. They connected wiring to the existing wiring on our Vehicle. We removed all of the Connections, and extra Wires they added, and connected the wiring connections that were already in our vehicle. The most difficult part was locating the connections that were in clusters of wires and Connections.

by:

Good lord, that was fast and helpful? I didn’t even talk to anyone and I feel like there was a lot of personal attention that went into this! Pricing was half of dealership. Took 29 min to bolt it on and 10 to wire it

by:
Ram 2500

The Rhino Rack 2500 Series and the Rhino-rack Vortex Aero Crossbars fit like a glove. GREAT quality at a decent price (you get what you pay for). I also purchased the Rhino-rack J-style Kayak Carrier which was also a great product!! I was helped by Karen F and she did a great job from start to finish, thanks Karen!!! I have purchased several items over the years from etrailer, they have very good prices as well as a very knowledgeable staff. This business and its staff are a class act!!!

Most components received as advertised. Running board lighting kit was in an open box and missing one of four lights and I've requested replacement but with no response as of yet.

2022 Nissan Frontier

Plug and play in the way to go. Perfect fit. It is a little hard to find the plug for the relays but it's there behind the thick wiring harness. Look for the white tape

by:

excellent prices, product is always as described, great customer support,
ive ordered about 7 trailer mounts for my service vehicles and every single time the process was simple, fast shipping, and they check on you periodically to make sure everything was perfect

by:
2022 Nissan Frontier

I ended up drilling a 2 inch hole in the bumper where a factory connector would go. So the connector looks factory. The pictures with the harness instructions could be a little more clear but the installation was painless.

by:
Nissan Frontier

With the help of etrailer installation video, I was able to complete the installation within half an hour. I didn't order the tester but I believe that the system will work just fine. Great buy for my Nissan Frontier.

by:

This was one of The easiest trailer wiring hornist to install. It is just a plug and play, it took me all of about 15 minutes to install everything.
Thanks

by:

Very Professional Result. the Dealership wanted $800 and doing it myself was fast and easy. This is as easy as plugging a Lamp. The video and instructions will give you all the confidence you will need. Your just connecting up the factory harness and includes foam pieces to prevent rattling. 100% Perfect.

by:

Plugged right in. Wish they had included the mounting bracket for the receptacle. I had to make find one locally.

This wiring kit worked flawlessly. The instructions were complete, and this kit was a direct fit for my 2022 Nissan Frontier.

The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector Item # 118281 is the correct harness for your 2010 Nissan Pathfinder.
