This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area on the driver's side and passenger's side. You will have to remove some interior paneling and floor molding to access this harness.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Very simple to install, instructions were clear and easy to follow. Wiring is still working great after a year of use.
For the money you can't beat it. Still works great.
I would have like to seen a better mounting solution for the connector.
I had to deviate from the instillation instructions slightly, (but it was nothing critical)
in order to retain the factor mounting point for the connector I had to reverse the instructions a one point. Overall, The product does what it claims and I would buy it again if needed. FYI I did have to modify the stock connector mounting bracket to except the after market connector. Would have been nice if a new matching mounting bracket was included. Again not a huge issue.
My 1997 Toyota 4Runner had a problem with it's factory installed trailer wiring. I have a boat and a small lawn trailer and both where having the same issue so I knew it was within the wiring of my vehicle. I looked around the internet for a plug and play wiring harness to replace it with. The factory unit was a plug and play set-up, so uninstalling the old wiring and installing the new system was a snap.( literally ) I just unplugged the old and plugged in the new wiring and done. Works perfectly. Great job etrailer.
The harness was perfectly measured for my vehicle (2000 4Runner SR5) and installed in less than 30 min. After installation it worked perfectly from the first try. Good feel to the product. Shows it was built by hand for your vehicle.

this harness fit seamlessly as a replacement for my oem harness that i had to replaced because the converter failed... i called my local toyota dealer for an oem kit replacement and he quoted me a price that was 6-times as expensive. it was a no brainer as to which one to buy. hopefully this one will last so i can't comment on it's durabilty yet since i just replaced it.
Product came in as advertised good quality not no cheap product and at a good price.everything works and easy installation everything is straight forward. I would recommend it to anybody that needs one or is in the market for one
