Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, run the red hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Powered Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Isuzu Rodeo

Went on like a charm. This is my 3rd rodeo with Etrailer. Two receiver, hitches, and a weight distribution camlock. All of them were exactly as promised.

2011 Dodge Grand Caravan

The wiring harness was installed on a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. After watching the installation video, the install was easy. I used 0.375-in Plastic Black Split Cable Tubing to protect the wiring from abrasions and sharp edges. Discovered that the opening in the mounting bracket, part # 18144 is too small to mount the 4-pole plug.

Had the product installed now for about a year. I'd I remember correctly it was delivered ahead of schedule. Installation was a breeze I'd say it took me longer to locate my proper impact driver bit to take off the tail lights than the actual Installation took. Main power line ended up being the perfect length to include the extra length I took up by Routing and winding it around everything possible during install.

by:

No problems.

Great service fast shipping. This harness sure makes it a simple task to wire up my Grand Caravan for towing.

by:

Really like it.

by:

Great fit, was concerned at first when I noticed the brake wire wasn't attached, however I also noticed the vehicle's wiring harness included wires not connected to a bulb. All signals to the trailer ran perfectly when tested.

My only issue was not having an appropriate connector for attaching the power wire to the battery. Minor issue though.

Although the vehicles harness is designed for providing a trailer signal this device provides a buffer that protects the vehicles electrical system.

2018 Dodge Grand Caravan

The connections went together well enough, but leaving exposed wire in our climate is a recipe for failure. I used larger more durable zip ties and a length of hose to enclose the "rear" wires. Why Chrysler does not run an "accessory" hot wire to the rear of their minivans is DUMB. That little red wire running the length of the underside of the van is gonna be a problem.

by:

Great rig, easy to install.

2017 Dodge Grand Caravan

The wiring harness worked just fine as advertised. It took about 2 1/2 hours to install but that is because I am overly meticulous. I could probably do it again in half the time. I am happy. The mounting bracket (18144) I ordered with the harness had a cutout slightly too small to accept the 4-pin plug. I used files to enlarge it and eventually made it fit. I suggest try ordering a different bracket from another manufacturer.

The 18144 bracket will not work with hopkins wiring harnesses. I recommend a brophy bracket part # BK4F.

First one shorted out within 3 months. Had to purchase and replace it and it has worked ok since.

Installation was super easy. and it seems to be a nice product, however during my first trip the lights kept turning on and off while I was driving. I though it was the trailer wiring. After a while the only ligh that was working was the Right rear turn/brake light. Not fun driving at night that way!. When I got back I did further testing and the problem was this interface. I requested a warrantee replacement and etrailer sent one right out. I replaced the control box and it is now working, but i haven't been on an extended trip with it yet. The first one worked for about 2 hours, I hope this one lasts longer. etrailer was great on replacing it, and paid for shipping the old one back, so great service as always.

2001 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

I am totally pleased with my new hitch and wiring harness. It has been just about a year since I ordered and installed it myself. Great quality. Great customer service , and the product price was very reasonably priced.
To me, this is a top notch company with top notch employees that provide top notch products. It was a pleasure to do business with them.
Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention the great “how-to” videos on their products. These are why I felt confident enough to install it myself.
One more thing. I checked around with other sources, both locally and on line before deciding (this is probably the fourth hitch that I have had over the years), but the reviews for this company and their products were more than I could resist. And the great rewiews were totally accurate. - And, they shipped promptly. My hitch fit great and looks great too - that is to say, one has to really look to even see it. ?????????? 5 thumbs up from this satisfied customer!

by:

Only pulled a trailer a few times. After letting my van warm up, smelled something electrical burning. Noticed left rear blinker was not working. Problem, wiring harness converter box burn up, blew the van fuse.
Less than six months old, etrailer would not replace or refund. Wiring harness only has 90 day warranty. $[XX] well spent, not

2016 Dodge Grand Caravan

Took minutes to install. The box back by the trailer plug we hide behind the driver brake light. We also placed the ground screw there as well. One note is to drill the hole deep enough. There are 2 body panels. One about 1/4 inch behind the one you can see. Everything else plugged in. We followed the brake lines up to the front to connect the power wire to the battery.

2015 Dodge Grand Caravan

Ordered this Hopkins trailer wire harness for my 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan as a replacement to the curt harness that I installed 3 years ago. After two years the curt harness stopped working so I thinking that this time the Hopkins harness should last longer because the curt harness used two sided tape to hold the control box in place but did not hold and was banging around a lot were as the Hopkins harness has tabs that I can secure the box with zip ties or screws. I was very happy with ordering from etrailer. It was easy to find what I needed and order through the site. Plus fast shipping and email communicaton that my part was shipped the same day I placed my order.

by:

The wiring looked complicated and formidable coming out of the box but fortunately the video on etrailers website made it very easy to install. The only catch was the video kept calling the long wire that went up front to the battery a "black" wire but in fact it was red. Other than that it went very well. It took maybe 1.5 hours.

by:

Wiring for trailer was easy just plug it into tail lights and follow directions.
Most difficult for me was working from the ground routing the power wire for the
trailer light module. As I am 74 I do not move as easily as I once did. It was hard for me to get under the van to route the power wire. A lift will make it much easier.

by:

works great easier to wire. Could use a couple extra prong weather covers they fall off way to easy

by:
Chrysler

Good price. They had two like wiring harnesses for my 2013 Chrysler T&C. Because of their excellent DIY videos, I could compare, picked this one because little control module gets attached inside body under left tail light, whereas the Curt harness attaches the to the left inside of rear bumper- less than ideal in N Illinois.

product still working great!!

After stringing the wire to the battery ended up a foot short had to splice it, as the old saying goes "Better a foot too long than an inch short". Sent this message to the manufacturer.

The 5:10 mark of the attached video shows the route to the taillights but I am assuming you mean the route to the battery, which starts at the 7:00 mark. This shows the best route to take so that you do not have to splice extra wire to the harness.

by:
2016 Dodge Grand Caravan

Excellent fit and finish. Looks great on van. Took a little longer to install but I didn't have a lift and needed an extra pair of hands to lift hitch up into position. Watching the video is a great idea before you start.

Plug and play. Hardest part was running a wire under the car. Easy as pie.

Still as good as the day I got it

by:

Product installs easily but pay attention to the instructions for running the power wire to the battery...the wire is only long enough to go the route listed in the instructions

  • Trailer Taillights Not Illuminating With Hopkins Wiring Harness On 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan
In most cases when only one function is not working properly or intermittently it means there is a bad ground connection somewhere on your setup. I would double check the ground connection on the vehicle Hopkins plug part # HM11141995 to make sure it is grounded to a clean bare metal surface free of debris or paint. Grounding issues tend to show up most with the running light circuit because those lights remain on continuously and so they draw more current. You also want to make sure the...

  • Trailer Wiring To add 7-Way Connector to 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan
In order to add a 7-way to your 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan to use a brake controller you will need to add a 4-way and then a 7-way (which the 4-way will plug in to in order to give it those functions). The exact parts you need are the following: - Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # HM11141995 - Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat # ETBC7

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan
The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan is the Draw Tite Class III hitch part # 75579 because it has great towing capacities, the shortest listed install time, and because only the hitch opening hangs below the rear bumper so it's the most hidden option we have. I attached a picture of what the hitch looks like as well as an install video for you to check out too. For trailer wiring you'd then want the Hopkins kit part # HM11141995. • Hopkins Trailer Wiring Harness Not Working on a 2015 Dodge Caravan
Yes, there is a way to test the converter box from Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector Item # HM11141995 to determine if it is the problem. You will need a circuit tester such as # PTW2992 or a meter if you have one to perform the test. The first part of testing is to use the circuit tester or meter to check for power on the wires coming into the converter box from the vehicle. Have someone sit in the vehicle to operate the lights while you...

All are compatible with incandescent and LED lighting systems and all will install in an identical manner using plug-in connectors (please see the linked video) but since the Curt offers higher current capacity and is lower in cost I suggest it. Written installation instructions are also linked. Without knowing what harness you have I cannot confirm if it...

Yes, you absolutely can tow that trailer. The 2019 Grand Caravan has a Gross Combined Weight Rating at 8,750 for example so you have more than enough capacity there. A great hitch to set you up is the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98854. With a matte black finish that resists corrosion and scratches, it's a great choice to do the job. The Hopkins Wiring # HM11141995 and Curt Wiring # C56331 for your 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan install the same way but the Curt wiring is much more reliable, which is something you can see right away since the Curt has a 1-year warranty and the Hopkins is only covered for 90-days. If you don't already have a trailer hitch then I also recommend picking up the etrailer # e98854 because it features a hidden crosstube and a matte black finish which looks better and is more durable than the classic...

  • Installing a 7-Way Trailer Harness on a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan

The only exception is maybe substituting the long bracket # 18136 for the short # 18140 because there isn't always enough space using the short one with a 7-way.
