This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number C56206. This is the currency connector vehicle wiring harness with a four pole flat trailer connector. This product is going to fit certain years of the Nissan Versa Note. It's going to provide your four way flat connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. It is compatible with five pole, six pole and seven pole adapters. Adapters are sold separately. It's going to come with your dust cap for the four way flat connector, that way you can cover up those connection points when the plug is not being used. The black box right here is going to be your included tail light converter. This is going to ensure your vehicle's wiring matches out of your trailer's.
This is going to be constructed using surface mount technology. It's really going to help maximize the trailer light yield and intensity while producing minimal heat. It's also going to ensure superior operation, even in rough road conditions. Now, one of the main benefits of a system like this is that it's designed to connect quickly and easily. All you have to do is look at the connection points in your rear cargo area. It comes with detailed instructions to indicate exactly where those are. The instructions are also going to help walk you through the installation process step-by-step.
They're going to feature some really nice, detailed pictures. That way it really does assist with the installation. Pictures are always a great thing to go by and it's got all the steps listed out as well, so those are going to come in handy. Identify where those connection points are, plug in your connectors. The connector with the yellow wire is going to go on the driver's side. Connector with the green wire is going to the passenger's side.
Yellow, driver's side. Green, passenger's side. So plug in the connectors and then you'll need to make a ground connection. That's going to be the white wire with the ring terminal attached to it. You want to get that grounded to a nice, clean metal surface using the included grounding screw. Again, that's the white wire with the ring terminal attached to it.
The screw is included. Then you can mount the converter box with the double sided adhesive tape provided with the kit. Then you'll need to secure any excess or slack in the wire with your included zip ties. Once your installation is complete, the four way connector is going to be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area. Now, when it comes to the amperage for the stop end trailer lights, we're looking at 3 amps per circuit and for the tail lights we're looking at 5 amps per circuit. It's also recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all your electrical connections. Terminal grease or dielectric grease, like the plugs on the vehicle and on the four pole connector itself. That's going to help prevent corrosion. Dose come with plenty of wire to make sure you don't have to stretch it to hook up trailer. It did take a little bit longer on shipping but wasn't etrailer fault. Mail is slower with all going on. I did call and talk about anything with etrailer very nice people and helpful
after looking at installation , I decided it would be in my best interest to take it to my mechanic , he stated I could have installed it but it did require more work than it first appeared . I have not used it yet so I can't comment on that aspect . Being for light weight use, I do not believe there will be a problem .
