This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

I didn’t have to run a positive wire clear to the the battery for this set up which was nice! Definitely recommend getting this etrailer kit for Amy vehicle
Seems very solid and installation took about an hour. Did have to cut a small portion of the heat shield away but that was pretty easy. Although easier with two people I did it by myself so it can be done by yourself. 2016 Hyundai Elantra Sport. I added a Curt bracket for the 4 pin harness for a cleanerlook.

I received the hitch in good time; the directions were clear; it was easy to install. All the electrical connections have been checked and functioned as intended.
Very easy to install. I had some trouble getting it to work at first. I screwed the ground wire to a nut in the trunk that was a ground but not a very good one. This caused some weird light problems that didn't make sense.
Once I switched to the self tapping sheet metal screw provided for the ground wire the problems disappeared. Total install time was less than an hour.
I haven't had a chance to install this yet. Question: There are two tee connectors, one with the yellow wire, and other with no yellow wire. The directions say to plug in the tee with the yellow wire. What is the other tee for or where does it go? Otherwise installation will be very simple. The Curt hitch also was an easy install - your directions were great. It appears to be a very substantial hitch. Your service was outstanding. Thank you. Dave

The yellow T goes behind the driver tail light and picks up the left turn and running light signal. The green T goes behind the passenger tail light and picks up right turn and the brake light signal. See step 5 in the instructions.
Installation on this wiring harness could not have been any easier. The excellent instructions and video from eTrailer hooked me right up. I was a little hesitant about how it would work since it comes out the trunk when in use. It fits nicely and I have not experienced any issues. I highly recommend this type of wiring harness and eTrailer.

This products is much better than other vehicle wiring harness for trailers. Much easier to install without routing hot wire to battery. I wish I would have purchased this one first.
2014 Elantra hitch, installed perfectly. Was WAY easier then the instructions stated. Besides cutting the beauty cover (plastic), the whole install only took about an hour and fit PERFECTLY. Great product.

I have a 2014 Hyundai Elantra SE, and this set fits perfectly. This installed so easily! This was way quicker and easier than installing the hitch even which is easy of course. Overall, it was a fast and easy installation. I recommend this product.

Was very easy to plugin and get setup. Wires had good length to them, not too short, but not a crazy amount of excess to deal with either. Installation was easy.
I just installed this and am very happy with it so far. The instructions were simple and clear, and matched up exactly with my car. Everything needed was included, and it was very easy. Since there are no wires to cut/splice it is hard to make any mistakes and it worked on the first try.
Easiest piece of assembly. Directions were clear to follow. Took approximately 10 minutes from start to finish which includes tucking the wires under the felt.

Not only are they awesome my second time purchasing as I bought a new car and needed a new hitch bar I highly recommended you guys to people on Reddit home improvement sub! A lot a people didn’t realize how easy it is to install a hitch onto a car and pull a tag along trailer for east home improvement stuff pick ups. So many were thinking they’d need to purchase a truck just to haul things. I recommended your site because if it’s easy to use ordering and videos to watch the simple installs.
