Hi everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today, we are looking at our Erickson cargo control bar on our 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. Now, this is a cargo control bar, which means if you do have like large boxes, your tool boxes, large cargo, this is gonna help to prevent them from rolling around in your truck bed. It helps with organization, as well as keeping things nice and secure. Let's take a look at how this works.
This has a ratchet on this end. So, if you wanna take it off, you're gonna have to hold onto that lever and turn it to one end. See, this now releases your bar, allowing you to slide it in and slide it out. So here, we have our cooler, so we're gonna keep that in place as well as our box. So, I'm gonna set this to a lower setting here on our truck bed.
So, once I have it right where I want it, I then release this bar, and then I use this ratchet to get the best fit. So, we're gonna go one click. There you go, that's as good as we're gonna get. And then secure it into place in the lowest setting. Now, with it here, you can see how this will control our cargo and prevent our cooler from sliding back.
One thing you may notice though, is that it is a little bit wobbly. And it's gonna be okay still since your feet are firmly planted against your truck bed. But if you don't like that wobbliness, you might also be interested in the HitchMate stabilizer bar. That's a little bit of a larger stabilizer bar and won't have that wobble. Other than that though, it stays in place.
And this ratcheting mechanism I like cause it's a lot easier to control and to click for an easy fit. One thing about it though, is that it does extend out. So, depending on your truck bed, as you can see on our Silverado 2500, it's a perfect fit. Now, you don't have to worry about it being too short or too long. This can go from 44 inches long, all the way up to 74 inches long. So, my final thoughts about the Erickson cargo control bar is that it is nice. It is an easy fit. It works well with your truck bed in terms of stabilization and cargo control. It does have a little bit of that wobble, but you know that when cargo does come against that bar, you won't have to worry about it slipping off. Great delivery
Product does not stand up to use - we used this item approx. 6 times before the teeth on the bar became stripped and bar would not hold. Manufacturer would not warrant product. DO NOT BUY - you are wasting your money.
Amazing product! My DH built a roll-out tray for the pickup bed and this bar locks it in place. We use it all the time. Loading up our groceries at Costco and folks stare!
I bought this cargo bar because of the reviews. Most were positive and I never really found any bad bad stuff. "MISTAKE" Maybe I got a defect or something but, it's a piece of #@*$. I can't believe nobody has had any issues. I put it in the bed of my 2012 F150 and extended to fit. The ratchet will not ratchet tight without slipping out of the so called locked position. I thought maybe it was because I had it extended so far. No, I tried it in my other small truck bed and the same thing. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt and went back the next day and played with it some more thinking all these people can't be wrong but, the ratchet mechanism is just plain crap. Sorry folks, I can't recommend this product at all. Steer clear.

Update: Etrailer noticed my review and promptly shipped me another cargo bar for exchange. First Id like to say I appreciate Etrailer being concerned enough to do that without me requesting it. They are obviously concerned with customer satisfaction. I like that. Second, the newest bar that arrived was indeed somewhat better than the one I returned although, it still isnt anywhere near what I expected in a ratcheting cargo bar. When I do tighten it and lock it, it does stay in place.........until you shake it a little and it slips out of the locked position again, just like the old one. The ratchet mechanism is just not made properly for a lot of tension. I have a bed liner so it needs the extra tension to hold in place. On the Web Page for the bar it says, Ratchet mechanism creates more tension for tighter, stronger hold. Thats just not the case. I believe the cooler thats being secured in the video is empty. My conclusion is that it is just a light duty bar to hold light duty stuff. I suppose if you had light loads you were trying to secure and you didnt tighten the bar very tight, it may do well. In their defense, they never say its heavy duty. Ill keep the bar but, I still dont recommend it for anything other than really light loads. I do recommend Etrailer though. The other items I bought were excellent as well as the shipping and customer service. Dont worry Etrailer, Ill be back, and thanks for your concern and help.

Awesome..works great. Holds cargo in place and have not had any issues. Makes things secure in my van.
I owned this product before and it is an excellent product. It can be adjusted to fit anywhere in the bed of the truck and installs in seconds. It is much better than the usual 2x6 in the bed and less costly then the OEM cargo divider. eTrailer customer service was excellent, they upgraded my shipping at no extra cost and I received the Cargo Bar within 3 days. My order was processed with one hours and was shipped within 3 hours. I was notified by email on the status of my order every step of the way. Great product and Outstanding customer service.
A win-win situation.

The cargo bar hasnt left the bed of the truck since I bought it. It still looks great as it is under the tonno cover and it also works great at holding the load, but I do need to help the ratchet by holding the sliding tab while ratcheting. I dont think it is a design issue, just an issue of being well used.
It is so wonderful ordering from etrailer. We love the communication all during the process, and we have never been disappointed in the quality of their products.
Really great product. Much better than the 2x8 I was trying to wedge in there to keep my golf clubs from sliding to the front of the bed. Definitely recommend. Perfect for when you only need a portion of the truck bed.
The product was exactly as advertised and well built. It's a simple product so there isn't much to say. What I can mention is the fantastic customer service from etrailer.com. There communication with the customer is among the best I've experienced. I had the product within days and it was very well packed. I've ordered from etrailer.com in the past and will continue to do so again in the future.
Ratchet cargo pole. Fairly sturdy pole and the materials seem to be good for this thing. When extended the male pole is a little whobbley. Should be ok for restraining a 200lb item. I use these to separate the truck bed into portisions and stop cargo from sliding in the truck.
They get the job done.

Still works great, keeps stuff where it should be.
Hold position perfectly, very adjustable and easy to use. Works terrific for intended purpose of keeping things from sliding front to back in bed of my pickup. A good price as well.

I like the ease of using this device. It functions well, is small enough to store inside my truck, and is weather-resistent. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a good, economical bed bar device.
This item works great for us so far. We dont need to hold heavy stuff in place, just coolers and boxes, etc.. I bought two and used one to replace a tension bar that came with an organizer. This works much better for that as well.

It is wonderful. Rockhounding tools, 2.5 gallon water jugs, all on DHs rollout tray. That bar makes the whole project a success. Took me a few tries to get how it locks and unlocks but now it is a cinch. Note to self: the tray wont want to roll with six bags of gravel on it certainly no fault of the bar!
