Clayton: Hey, everyone. Clayton here at etrailer.com. Today I have a 2016 Kia Sorento. We're going to be taking a look at, and I'll show you how to install, a PTC cabin air filter.Our cabin air filter filters the air coming into the cabin of our vehicle. Changing this routinely is very important for clean air. It's not only going to be good for you, but also for your passengers.
And another key feature of changing your cabin air filter is that your AC in it is not going to have to work as hard because the air is going to be a lot cleaner going through, and there's not going to be as much restriction.Our cabin air filter is made of a white media particulate. And as you can see, it's pleated, and what these pleats are going to do is help catch any particles coming through that air box. Now this filter is going to filter up to 90% of all debris and contaminants coming through our air box. In this vehicle in particular, it's very easy to change the cabin air filter. Personally, I do mine every couple of oil changes.
I just like to have clean air for me and my passengers. Now I'll go ahead and show you how easy this is to get installed.We are going to be working in the glove box on the passenger side. To start, we're going to open our glove box, and there's going to be a little arm on the right side of our glove box. This is going to catch the glove box from dropping too low. We want to compress that and pull it off.
On our arm here, there's little tabs. We're going to pull down on this and pull our catch off of our glove box.This glove box is super easy to take down. It's really common on glove boxes to have to pinch the sides, but in this case, there's little tabs here. Now, all we have to do is twist those tabs and pull this plastic cap off. We're going to have one of those on each side.With that tab removed, our glove box is just going to drop down.
Then our cabin air filter compartment is located right here. There's going to be two tabs on each side that we're going to want to pinch together and pull out. This is going to release the tension on our cover. Just like that, we can pull our cover off. This part's very important because we want to make note of which way our air flow is coming, so there's going to be an arrow down. It just means we want to put our new filter in in the same direction. We can go ahead, slide this one out carefully, and then inspect it.On your left is going to be our old filter and on your right is going to be our new filter. Now right off the bat, you can notice the color difference, and that's mainly because this one is a charcoal media particulate, and this one is a white media particulate. When we look into our pleats, you'll notice that there is some dirt and debris. Now there's not a whole lot, so this must have been changed recently, which is pretty good.To install our new filter, we want to make sure our airflow is pointed down. We'll simply take our filter and slide it into our air box. We can now re-install our cover in the reverse order we took it off.With our cover snapped in, we can lift up our glove box, grab that catch, and just push it back onto that tab. We'll take our stops here on the side, get those positioned how they we're when we took them out and twist it to lock it in. As you can see, the glove box catches, and go ahead and do that on the other side. Just like that, our glove box is re-installed and we're ready to hit the road.That's going to do it for a look at and installation of a PTC cabin air filter on our 2016 Kia Sorento.

The PTC CABIN FILTER #3705 is a great value. Cost is always a factor when purchasing a disposable product, unless you have a lung disorder. Just keep in mind, it may be a long wait for delivery. Ours took several weeks to arrive ... Slow boat from China??
