Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this OptiMate Lithium 8s 10-step, AC to DC smart battery charger and maintainer. Now, this is a nice, compact smart charger which will draw power from your AC wall outlet to automatically charge, test, and even maintain a lithium-iron phosphate battery. This one here is designed to work with the 25.6 volt, 26.4 volt LiFePO4 batteries, also known as the LFP batteries. Now, the larger 25.6 volt, 26.4 volt LiFePO4 batteries are normally used in applications, such as light aircraft or medical equipment.
And this smart charger here will allow the battery to be charged to 100% quicker and at the correct amperage. Does use a 10-step charging algorithm, which will automatically save, charge, test and even maintain without overcharging. This will analyze the battery condition to provide a nice customized charge for that battery. And it does test automatically and indicate if there's a battery problem. Has a push button right here that activates the BMS wake up mode.
It'll safely wake the battery out of a sleep mode or load discharge. And also, it's in tune mode that'll deliver stable 27.2 volt power to support battery during re-flashing, reprogramming and troubleshooting. Now, to connect this charger to your battery, it does come with two different options. The first one is your standard battery clamp cable, which provides a nice, quick, easy way to connect your battery. Has the positive and negative clamps.
And then the SAE connector on this end that'll plug into the connector on the battery. Total length on that cable is about 20 inches. The other one they offer is the little bit more permanent one, it's a eyelet cable. You can see it has the positive negative eyelets. This'll let you make a secure connection to your battery terminals, and this one even includes a 15 amp inline fuse to protect the electronics from potential short circuits.
It also has the SAE connector for connecting to your charger. What's nice about this one, because it's more of a permanent connection, you can see they use a nice weatherproof seal on this when it's connected. And then when it's not connected, you have a nice cap on it to keep out any dirt and water from the connection. Same way, the length on this is about 20 inches. Now, this is a very simple operation. Uses the LED lights that will indicate the charging status. Has an auto-memory feature that'll remember the last selection if power is lost to it. It is in a nice, durable weather proof case. Does include wall mounts, there's two holes down here and two right up here. It includes the six foot long AC supply lead and a six foot long charge lead that has the SAE connectors on it. Also, what's nice, it comes with a instruction manual that will describe how this operate, how it all hooks up. But what's nice is if you don't even have this manual with you, on the charger itself, right here they have a QR code that you can scan with your electronic device and it'll pull up the instructions if you don't happen to have the manual with you. Few specs on this, again, the application is for 25.6 volt to 26.4 volt lithium batteries from two to 100 amp hours. The battery types that this supports is the LiFePO4, which is the lithium-iron phosphate batteries. And the maximum charging amperage is five amps. But that should do it for the review on the OptiMate Lithium 8s 10-step, AC to DC smart battery charger and maintainer..
