Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this replacement fabric for the Roadmaster Tow Defender Protective Screen. This part here will replace the fabric screen that's on your Roadmaster Tow Defender, part number RM-4700. That part we do sell separately on our website. And basically the Tow Defender, it's a heavy duty nylon screen that attaches to a two inch hitch on your motor home and extends out to attach to the base plates on your towed vehicle. Wanting to pop up an insert just to show you what we're talking about.
If you look at that insert, you can see the motor home and you can see the towed vehicle. And if you notice in between there you'll see this protective screen to keep any, what it is, it's designed to deflect any rocks, gravel or road debris down to the road away from your vehicle. Protects the towed cars finish against any chips and dings while it's being flat towed. Now this is a nylon mesh. You see here This nylon mesh will let the air go through it which helps keep it low and over the road.
And this part is just for the replacement screens if your screen becomes torn or damaged. It is made of a heavy duty nylon material. If you notice right here, it does include with these four storage straps with the buckles on each end. And basically, if you're not towing at the time, you can actually roll this up towards your motor home, put these storage straps around it to keep it in place. A few dimensions on this, the width of this, it's pretty hard to see.
I have it extended out, but if I hold this up and hold this end up, you can see overall width is about 75 3/4 inches. And the length from here to that end down there is 47 inches long. But that should do it for the review on this replacement fabric for the Roadmaster Tow Defender Protective screen.

Made of heavy-duty nylon.I have an old Blue OX BX88255 KarGard II Polypropylene Protective Screen (73-1/2"W x 36"L). Blue OX no longer make the KarGard II nor a replacement screen. I had read the Roadmaster Replacement Fabric Screen (RM-4700-10) would fit the Blue OX KarGard II. Ordered and installed. The Roadmaster has two sleave locations on both front and back sides. Using the inner most sleaves made an installed finished size of 72"W x 40". The install required the front gas springs removed to include there ball connector allowing the rod to fit through the opening. On the tow vehicle side the clamp bracket had to be slipped on the bare rod rather than over the screen material due to the double thickness of the screen when utilizing the inner sleave of the Roadmaster screen. This setup is not perfect but works as a replacement for the Blue OX KarGard II.

Excellent fit, prompt service. Replaced the other one destroyed by exhaust when the mechanical portion wore out a bushing. Was able to repair the bushing, but the fabric was cooked and brittle. Thanks
We were so glad to find the replacement fabric for our Roadmaster Tow Defender. Sure did not want to buy the entire unit again. We use the tow bar to pull either our 2018 GMC Denali HD and 2021 Jeep Rubicon. Great equipment that provides totally safe vehicle towing.

Unfortunately 3 of these melted under the exhaust of my Class A Coach. I added over it fire proof welding blanket material to try and make sure version 3 does not melt away. It caught fire! So now I gave up using this item between my Jeep and Bus.

The Tow Defender is easy to store, easy to setup and is the best way to protect our tow vehicle that we have found. etrailer: easy to place an order and the support for the products they sell is excellent.
