AJ: What's up everybody! It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we'll be checking out this double clevis link from Buyers Product. Now, what it does, it'll help you repair your broken chain. Let's say one of these chains breaks up here, you'll have to pry that out and then you have two parts of the chain. We would just move that old one, put this in between so you can still use that same chain. You don't have to buy an all new one or two new ones.
You can just repair the one you got, or you can pop off this hook at the end, attach it here and add another chain to it to make it a little bit longer. Let's say you just don't have enough length, and again, you don't want to buy another chain. You got another one you want to add to it, you can do that with this.Let's check it out. Went ahead and removed that hook from the end of the chain, so can show you how to put on the double clevis link. Just going to slide out the clevis pin itself, put the chain in between like that...
Let me set this down actually, be easier with both hands. We run the clevis pin back through, going through the middle of the link of the chain here so it stays in there, then we'll put our pin back in. Cotter pin back in there, then we'll just bend it out. That way it stays in place. We're going to repeat that process with the other chain linking these together, and making it one full working chain. Got to bend out the cotter pin ends here, that way it won't pop out of place.
With our link installed we have a complete chain once again. So, whether I just repaired this broken link - that would have been right here - or I took the hook off and extended the chain out to here, you still have those options, you don't have to get a new chain. It's also made out of a grade 70 metal, so it's going to hold up. Not to mention it being zinc-plated, so it's also going to hold up to those elements if you leave it outside on your camper like we do today. The double clevis link might stand out from the rest of the chain but it's going to be just as strong as the chain itself, and has a safe working load limit of 5,400 and a breaking point of around just a little bit above 16,000.If you need something for your 3/8" chain that handles just a little bit more weight, Titan Chains offers the same thing but just at a higher weight rating and a higher breaking point rating. So, you can look into that on our website too.So overall, I think it's a great way to repair that chain you already have and not have to buy a new one.
I know I don't like to buy new stuff all the time, but if I can fix what I got already, I'll definitely do that. This is definitely that option. Like you've broken link, add this in there to where it broke, fix your chain, or just if you need a little bit longer chain and you got two sitting around, this is your solution.I think that does it for our look at the double clevis link from Buyers. Hope this helped..
